sucks dude, i just mine, hardest bit is trying to eat with it elasticised shut, and i have a splint so no food goes through the top teeth, quite infurating
i was suppose to get the same surgery but in the last day the doc said that my upper jaw is to push back and it will be moved foward and well it was been 4 days got my surgery july 28, 2008 at around 8am it lasted 4 hrs. i was really scared before but wen i saw this video i didnt feel so bad. now i am waiting to heal up and so i can smile to my babe =]
hopefully i heal quick
well thank you for the video really helped me out
Some people are more comfortable leaving in wheelchairs. Since you don't walk around THAT much in the hospital after surgery and since you are still "drugged up" some peoplle can't walk down to leave.
i actually jus got unwired a few dats ago bro, i feel fantastic. it sucks for the first couple weeks, u get used to the shit. yeah i drank alot of milkshakes, boosts for breakfast ensures for dessert lol my best advice for u would be to get a magic bullet lol thing saved my life strait up. good luck wit that tho man, n prepare to lose weight, i lost 29 lbs in 7 weeks. peeeeace
hey mate why did u get ur surgery? i got knocked out on friday after a guy sucker punched me then punched me again while i was on the ground, result: jaw fracture in 2 places, was rushed to the hospital and got metal plates in there now, the first 2 days were HORRIBLE had some tubes in my mouth and in my nose which hurt like shit.. im so scared anything will ever happen to my jaw again, how can i get over that? worst pain of my life after surgery, taking the tubes out of the mouth was horrible 2
hey dude, i got my jaw broken the same way, two fractions (one was a open one), got three titanium plates in my mouth, had a tube sticking out of my neck going up to where the upper jaw was fractured. My nose hurt like shit as well, and during surgery i had one eye opened a little so it dried out wich hurt even more than the fractures or pulling out the tubes. I got sucker punched also, can't remember a thing though. Glad my buddy told me what had happend. Good luck to you man, and be safe!
yo buddy, ye man some thing to desinfect entered my left eye during surgery so on top of having my mouth hurt my eye hurt like a bitch.. so i stayed like 2 days with my eyes closed and shit.. im glad its over.. taking plates out may 28, good luck man and i hope ur not suffering too much with the eating thing :P
yeah man thanks i'm fine, this happend summer of 2006. good luck with taking out the plates, mine are staying for the rest of my days... i have to say though, i find it quiet interesting that we both got sucker punched, and that we both had two fractures, and on top of that we both had our left eye hurt like son of a ..... hehe But thats life! take care buddy!
How did you afford it? how long do you have to wear the braces? is the bone fragile or might break if applied with force? is it symetric? did it affect your speech? how was the pain? thanks if you can answer these
i am sorry you have to go thu that i am 13 i had it done when i was12 it hurt like a b i cryied so much and did you have it done at sait marys in kansas cause thats where i got mine done
I was just told my little boy (9) has a bull dog jaw, anmd will need sugery to correct that. I do not know if i want my 9 year old to go through that or wait till he is older.
I have 2 weeks left until I get mine out. I feel everyone on that shit. Mine was broken in an altercation and the breaks were on my wisdom tooth and my chin. 2 more weeks...can't wait. I am going to keep the weight off. I will pig out for a week and then limit my diet after that. I don't think it is such a bad thing to go through...just takes will power to fight the pains and deal with the liwuid diet.
Life change, not really. I had a 6 week recovery and I was pretty lethargic and missed cinnamon rolls. Other than that, I lost some wait, quickly gained it back, and I feel pretty much the same. The world looks the same to me looking out, but sometimes I look in the mirror and say "who the fuck...oh, right, new face." Otherwise, pretty much the same for me.
thanks! i got it... and can i just say,i can kinda c now why u picked that song + i really like d r video..ima girl by the way geangeas is only 4 fun ha ha!!!!!!thanks again...good luck!
hey i was wondering how you were able to afford this surgery? I want to have this surgrey done but i thought that insurance companies dont cover it because it is cosmetic. What did you do in your situation?
I'm not sure how, but i did get it mostly covered by insurance. Mine was called a class 3 maliclusion and I had a doctor's note to say that it would be detrimental to my health if i didn't do the surgery. Something like that. But you should definitely get insurance. It's way too expensive otherwise.
Actually, DON'T stay in bed, I had this surgery exactly two weeks ago, my swelling has completely disapeared within the first 6 days and the mouth piece is being removed TODAY. I went out a lot, did a lot of shopping, a lot of parties with friends...Staying in bed and thinking about how bad you look might have an effect on your recovery.
Brought back some rough memories for me. I had jaw surgery in December 2003 and while it was pretty hard on me I am very glad I did it. It's not an easy surgery but it's good to feel good about yourself again.
how long were you in braces and everything? i have an underbite and considering getting jaw surgery to correct it, but i have doubts about braces because i'm 22.
I am 21 and I've had braces for a year and a half and I will have them on for another 6 months. So far, recovery has been a son of a bitch, but I'll tell you in six months if it was worth it. Yeah, braces at 22 sucks, but if you think about it, it's always better now than later if you're going to do it. I'm sure I'll think it's worth it in the end, but for now, it puts a damper on my confidence.
yeah i'm pretty sure i'm going to have it done. i regret not having it done sooner because now i have to wait until i graduate from college at the end of the month and get my own dental/medical insurance. best of luck to you and your recovery. i'll all be worth it, man.
Yeah, I started when I was a junior in college and I still have them. They suck. But you don't need me to tell you that. Furthermore, the surgery is terrible. No solid food for about 2 months depending on your healing. You look different. Your face stays swollen for a long time. Really think it over. Are you doing it for cosmetic reasons of pain/functionality?
