  • How durable are they? I'm seriously debating getting these but I'm a little worried they wont last very long. They would be worn practically every day and between workouts, runs, and work, i need to know how durable they will be.. i do not want to waste $100...

  • yep have a pair my self lol and hot feet also lol

  • they look like they still have seams on the outside which would cause them to rub the sides of your foot giving one blisters.

  • After 5 months of wearing my NB Life, I have to say that they are indeed one of, if not the best shoes I have owned. As time goes by, the foam sole will wear slightly, but in that process, you get much more ground feel. As for durability, I have run weekly 10ks, 2 marathons, 1 half marathon, and daily jogs and the shoes are holding up strong. There are no tears or any noticeable damage to the shoes whatsoever. I honestly prefer these over my NB Trails, KSOs, and Trek-Sports.

  • I might have to look into these as I like the more toned down look. I've been appealed to barefoot shoes after hearing a story on NPR. I have flat feet and have to wear custom arches in my shoes. The problem is, it is still painful for me to stand still because my feet will start throbbing in pain. I learned, a guy with a similar condition switched to a barefoot lifestyle and his arches drastically improved as he learned to walk more on the front of the foot than the heel.

  • Those sneakers do look very comfy to wear.

  • anyone done some running in them? are they walking shoes or running shoes?

  • @4limera1n I run in them all the time when it's cold. You do need some barefoot prior experience. These are the first minimalist shoes that worked for me. The other minimus shoes from NB are too narrow for me. It didn't occur to the designers that whoever runs barefoot probably has pretty massive feet.

  • Price, price, price. Shoe has less parts, less labor.

Should cost less. My wallet is staying closed.

And take it slow on the barefoot running-stresses your body

in different places. Finally got an injury running barefoot on beach

(i think) but I am 60+. When barefoot trend peters out because of

this, then it'll be time to stock up on all the New Bal close-outs.

I suspect a very light, very flexible shoe with zero drop and some

cushioning will be the shoe for me. Price NB-u have competition.

  • do you know if we can get them in the UK ? i love my vibrams and my nike frees and would like to get a pair of these but cant seem to find them in england.

  • Barefoot is the way to go. I was at the local community track and decided to just walk around in my stocking feet. NO PAIN. But with my $144.00 NB 1226 my feet were fucking acing. I'm getting NB 10 in red/grey. And running in your bare feet is the best in the world.

  • it looks like it will fall apart or rip easy

  • uh, uh, uh, uh

  • it looks like nike presto but not exact. can i trail run with nike prestos?

  • Nice looking shoes, nice idea, but I wonder how long that foam sole will last.

  • Where can I buy these from? I am in the UK, can't find them anywhere, even NB's own website does not have them listed.

  • Can I wear these year round, are these shoes supposed to be worn for running because these shoes look very nice and I would like to know how long they would last if I just walk around in them and use them casually. Please respond

  • i really wanna get a pair of those i tried them on @ new balance retail store but unfortunately they didn't carry size 11.5 !

  • these are like a smaller dropped version of nike free

  • All of you people paying $100 for a minimal shoe are not using your heads. I run in $10 water shoes. I have worn New Balance for 30 years. I would gladly pay $35 dollars for this light stylish shoe. It has less to it, it should cost less to manufacture, and its time for the shoe companies to stop ripping us off. By the way, I Iove running in my minimal water shoes which are nothing but a sole and an upper and true "zero drop" I'd prefer more style but $100 is ridiculous.

  • @ANonmse - depends. i need a minimalist shoe for work that still *looks* like a shoe. i tried my ZEMs and was told they were 'not appropriate', so a shoe that still *looks* like a regular shoe will cost more than other minimalist types...

  • would these be ideal for lifting weights or would that be too crazy?

  • @j3fferson27 thats fine but i would recomend vibram komodo sports, they are more designed for weight lifting and athletic activities. these are more of a all around walking, wellness shoe. use vibrams if your trying to use them for extensive activities.

  • How do they compare to the vivo barefoot evo???

  • I just bought these and I must say that they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever put on my feet. I might like them even more than my Vibram Bikilas.

  • justin, you are the reason i got into minimalist running. if it wasnt for your amazing reviews i wouldnt have been turned on to the minimalist style. thank you. you are the best host of any and every minimalist running shoe review. thanks again!!!!!!!!!!

  • Do they smell, when you wear them barefoot for a long period of time?

  • Are they good for general distance running as well (sidewalks)? How about the trails? How do they compare to the NB minimus trail? Are the trails good for general I just don't like the color scheme of the NB minimus roads lol.

  • @voidwareprohibited Uh, in economics, an increase in demand increases price, especially new products which face an unelastic demand curve. As the product ages, its price elasticity of demand becomes more elastic, which is why prices go down.

  • hows the grip on these shoes? would you slip over in the rain or snow?

  • That's a pretty sexy shoe. Any idea what the retail price will be?

  • @midwinterphoto hearing $100

  • @BirthdayShoesDotCom Paying more for less seems common nowadays...

  • @BirthdayShoesDotCom I picked up a pair of these today and was amazed at how comfortable and "stylish" they were. The $80 price was more than what I could hope for. Although, I do have questions about their durability. How long would the NB Lifes last if I were to use them for short distance runs (3-6 mile jogs) about 4 to 5 times a week on paved sidewalks and sand before any noticeable wear happens? Would they hold up for say, a good few months to half a year or more?

  • @midwinterphoto 80 bucks online. Clearance is now.
