In 2011 the Colts did the running hornline too. That stuff is intense! You don't know what it is like to Sprint across a football field and play your instrument like a boss until you do that.
I marched 'Coats 1988 to 1991 second and upper-lead Baritone. This is the best DCI vid I know of, especially the dude at 3.44, anyone who ever marched totally "gets" him.
Where can I find the video of Phantom '07 Running from the side like you had!!!!!!! I've only seen from the front, which is not as...awe inspiring as from the side.
@fartguy1172 No dude itwasnt a bad thing! I know you love all corps but you definitely chose two of the best examples to show the world, even if BD is evil!
surprised that hollywood hasnt made a drum corp movie. the shit that happens on tour is random and funny. The personalities that have to jive together for eighty some odd days drives some to the end of their wits. I was in SW, a poor corps. but full of friendly people and musical talent
@MrLastTimeIn Hollywood aka The Bluecoats made a movie called Throw It Down in 2006-07 and released in 2008. Got it on amazon.com. Pretty good I must say! Gives a non-corps civilian a pretty good idea about the ins and outs of a drumcorps from November to DCI Finals in August!! If you are a fan or former member I would get it! It is EPIC!!
@masagodude that was most likely an encore run, so they can pretty much do whatever they want, which also probably explains the really close camera angle
I think it'd be sweet to do several of these types of videos, using all different examples from all over dci to expose people to the wide array of styles in drum corps. Kind of a "Drum Corps for Dummies Video Series", if you will...
Thank you for the great vid, but I guess the better resolution is needed in order to get views from people who really don't know what drum corps is. Your idea is nice. I hope you or somebody else makes better one with the same idea. More people are going to want to march DCI, then.
Sweet Jesus this is very accurate, and yes, damn those food babies, I always hated how my drum corps habits stayed for like 4 or 5 months AFTER tour and i kept walking around home shirtless and eating 2nds or thirds.
@shadowduck93 correction, Open Class corps are known for their drumlines not hornlines, meanwhile in World Class corps its almost even but it really is the hornline that makes the corps so appealing.
i remember. I would eat a whole shit ton of food during lunch break and the staff would have us do a full run through right when we got back. Try doing a dci show with a food baby. I almost died.
@Dwindleman i did that one time when my friends went to the greasiest fast food joint in town during band camp. it wasn't such a good idea until we started marching again lol
@Dwindleman one time my mellophone buddy and I had a power peanut butter thing from jamba juice, then we went right into a really fast closer right after lunch. It was so bad
like phantom much?

@flabaman44 Go for the snare, you won't regret it. Or try the bass line
