  • I can't watch any Youtubes without references to Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. Why is this? If they are garbage why drag it into this enjoyment? I don't enjoy food because I hate fecal matter, whatever your definition of either is. Ok?

  • 4:57 is best part to the end.

  • amazing.stop

  • svaka čast onome ko je ovo stavio na you...ima li negdje čitav koncert

  • svaka čast onome ko je ovo stavio na you...

  • Finde den fehler.

  • It's a mistery to me. I look at a lot of comments here of people wondering why they don't make music like this nowadays. I saw this kind of comments on other music videos of different styles and eras. I like to belive that this is not just a simple case of nostalgia. So all this crap today is made for whom, exactly? Why can't the big music companies understand that people need other things than the Gaga-Bieber oligarhy, and the whole bunch of manufactured artists? Let's get back to the music!

  • @alexsimescu I watch videos from TV channels & I see them getting 100,000 views. I hear them saying, piracy is destroying our industry. then I click a video from some guy sitting in his kitchen making something, a recipe, a song, telling me something & it has 1 million or more. the only possible explanation for why they don't 'get that' is momentum. I have grown up in the 90's and 2000's. It's a repeat. My hope is that mass Internet distribution will allow the next generations to shine

  • @alexsimescu because the music industry is completely controlled by the rich elite... they use manufactured garbage to control the brain dead zombies just like they use the TV un-reality garbage to throw the masses into a mind controlled trance. I wish we still had music like this today... The radio drives me insane

  • @puhutes I'm sure that there are artists out there doing quality music, but they are completely ignored by the " traditional" industry. However, the record companies are at loss as the business model shifts to favour independant internet artists. That is the result of their greed (and the new technology, yes).

Cash, cash, cash is what they want with no regard to the public, the artist or the art itself. These sharks have to go.

  • @alexsimescu Gaga-Bieber? Well it's faster to make music using them. Simple they don't care about quality anymore. Only money

  • @HALKIDEOS1 They are not making music per se. Actually a farting monkey would sound more musical to my ears. But I digress!

  • A 30 años de este gran concierto. ¡Cómo se nota el respeto del público!

Qué tiempos aquellos, cuando predominaba la calidad musical por sobre lo comercial y el choubisnes!

  • Genius!!!

  • Mike Oldfield started Sir Richard Branson on the road to where he is now, Sir Richard Branson started Virgin records because of Mike Oldfield, we owe them both many thanks ;o)

  • ohh thank you for this great vod :)

  • 6:22 - have you noticed Maggie Reilly's gesture? ;)

  • Thanks for your Video.! Old but great, this was handmaded music!!!

  • 3:00 is a very nice entering ... Just magnificent!

  • Absolutamente maravilhoso.

  • One of the best live versions of TB... I only like the one from Knebworth Festival more. Anyway, great piece of music... the whole dvd is great

  • Genio Mike Oldfield-Fantastic................

  • This is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I never knew music could sound like this...it's completely unique.

  • 2ND....I CONTINUE... YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • Is it just me... or is the guy on the piano/keyboard thing really awkward?

  • @ArmenianSnipe13 yeah he is weird isn't he.

  • Hello everyone,

Yes this is great! Got the cd ``exposed``. Is live and very good. Listen to that!

    Greetings.

  • Its great but gotta say from about 3:00 on, it goes to an whole new level. Although, I could do without the singing lady. There are so many amazing things going on here which all seem to meld into a seemless piece of music except I just don't see how the woman fits into the equation.

  • @15 and @1:08 You're freaking kidding me. That alternation is beyond awesome.

  • I nvr knew he looked like tht! I thought he was 40 odd.

    Amazing,

  • look at luke skywalker play the piano :L

Love this so much thanks for sharing :)

  • Who is better, Mike Oldfield or God ?

That was a trick question : Mike Oldfield IS God.

  • This is the meaning of life.

  • the best musician of our time

  • I love oldfield, this is truly amazing

  • lastima que la primera imagen que veamos sea la del tio ese y no la de Mike

  • It is great. Only the listless, lethargic cleaning lady is a pain.

    DieterFriedrich

  • If one part of this concert is good, the following I see is better...

Oh, my goodness, why I had to be born so late and miss all this wonders when they happened??

  • Was der alles aus dem Ding herausholt!!!

So viele Möglichkeiten in einem Lied hab ich aus EINER Gitarre noch nie gehört!

  • Maggie Reilly is the best female voice of this planet

  • love the Les Paul Jr. 1959-60? ..had one n it met an untimely finish to its playing moments as SMASHED by a disgruntled ex'band member ..cryin shame! yet' retain the neck w/fretboard but headstocks shattered GONE ' only fretboard is re'usable...NE1 have an Idea how 2 best tre'Use it? peel it n replace I suppose eh...? Oh ya' These musicians are excellent specially Like the gtr' riffs n scalews etc... thanks 4 entertainment

  • @icedout24x: thank you for that incredibly insightful and meaningful contribution. Truly, you are an amazing critique of music, and a master of social convention. We should only be so worthy as to read all your brilliant analyses. Please let us know the next time *you* are invited to play at Montreux; it's an event I'm sure we'd all like to miss.

Oh, excuse me, I must have meant "attend."

  • @TheShawnbean Should we not heed his poetic words? after all he is obviously a connoisseur in the art of playing the pink flute. Indeed I believe his family crest to be a large gilded anchor surrounded by a `W`

I await with baited breath for his next in depth review which I am sure will be as scintillating as this one.

Why didnt I save time and just call him a Wanker?

  • @ibanezguitarman Probably because it have taxed his vocabulary?

Have you seen the video of Mr. Oldfield's London Concert for Tubular Bells 3? A surprisingly powerful interpretation, I thought.

  • have all his work, the modern mozart

  • I always thought this part sounded alot like Wishbone Ash.... here it really does!

  • AMAZING !!!

  • Who's the red-haired lady?

  • Maggie Reilly

  • The Logo in the back is soooo 80ies....

  • Thanks for this video, I've looking for months!

  • w morde odjazddd

  • Plain awesomness. I always eglected the concerts and compilations, only recently i have discovered how many new approaches to the same 'ol mike created in these performances. Now to put them into the time line and see how the tunes evolved. Excellent.

  • This is CRAZY fucking good. Just listening to this makes me want to return to my evil drug taking days. This music is otherworldly. Fuckin' awesome!

  • @hsd628 you should never of left them! peace out.

  • ...e' fantasitco...mitico...

  • never heard maggie reilly this good before. must have been a great concert one will never forget. even my nightly youtube-sessions with MO follow me in my dreams...

  • great live concert and song !!!! i prefer this version

  • musica de Dios EN LA TIERRA

    guitarra de Genios para genios

  • I believe that the keyboardist was "Tim." :)

  • Who was the keyboard player???

    ADT

  • EXCELLENTE!!!

  • My gf fancies him! I do a little bit too, the man is a genious.

  • A fantastic version of Tubular! I'm buying this DVD soon! Great stuff! Thanks for putting this on the tube.

  • Mike Oldfield, perhaps the Mozart of the 20th century! But you never can know!

  • @ichmalealsobinich Mozart, Beethoven...the best musician of our time...

  • @ichmalealsobinich

I doubt that there will ever be someone like mozart again writing down his first compositions with 4 years of age. Most parents don't even think about music lessons for their children at that age which is sad. Still mike is plain awesome and has a very refreshing aproach to composing contemporary but still neoclassic music.

  • @bassmajor At least M.O.s musical skills resembles much more to Mozart than Michael Jacksons who in german television was often compared with him. But I agree he was a unique genius like Bach, Händel & Co. in his time. Btw. it's nice that my comments are still read after more than 12 months of their upload. :)

  • @ichmalealsobinich

Yea thats true indeed^^ and the times have changed and so does the meaning that music has today. But it's still and will always be the flower of feeling^^

  • @ichmalealsobinich he certainly was a mozart of this age. it's evidence is in the way he's layer so many different voices into the same theme (precisely as mozart did), which few people bother with.

  • Mike Oldfield and Rick Wakeman always on my turntable in 1976

  • hohohoh...Wakeman...imagine if those two colaborated on something? How cool would that be...but nah, he's from a kinda different scene than Mike, it'd never happen.

  • look at his mouth at 5:58!

  • It's called a guitar pick.

  • why he is doing this with his mouth?

  • he used to do that, hold his pick in his mouth, so much because he had his amp up loud and it'd start ringing with the patterns he was playing with normal picking. he grew his nails longer on the right hand like a flamenco player and would mute the string to stop them ringing and pick each out clear. but he's 100% into it yea, if that's what u mean

  • look at his throat. he is singing the melodies

  • :)) 5*****

  • check out moonlight shadow in berlin, mike at his best

  • get the album you dope. The albums called tubular bells and winds up to the bells.

  • what a masterpiece!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing music

  • this is genius

  • When I saw Punkadiddle, I thought it was amazing.. but this.. Really fucking awesome! And a great voice!

  • This is my favorite performance of Tubular Bells because it maintains a more analogue, "vintage" sound that is absent from the 2003 version, yet does include some more modern synth work that improves on the original.

  • I love the riff that starts at 3:02. Mike is an absolute genius.

  • what happened to the 20-instrument gigs that oldfield made during the 70's??

  • es sorprendente...sensillamente brillante

  • I feel the same about this as I do about many live performances I see.

I would go through hell and back to go back in time and be at that gig...

  • In away might i add greensteff.!!

  • you are definitely a greensmurf.

Zappar as in frank ? if so get a new stereo or get your bootleg c.d supplier sacked or get your ears tested?.

  • Oldfields guitar tone reminds me of Zappas in a way

  • almost as leet as me at UT..Top stuff

  • After all these years still unmatched in artistry! Just nothing compares...

  • Absolutely brilliant!!

  • well .... maybe they should develop an own style then, oldfield is around longer i bet ^^

  • The pianist is mad.

  • Do you have a partial idea about who is him, and what's his role in this concert, and about this music? You're tender...

  • sorry for your loss. but its got to be said, your brother had great taste in music :P

  • now, why can't modern music be like this?nowadays you have idiots playing the same chords in the same order but with slightly different lyrics. Mike Oldfield is a god among modern day noise makers. YOU RULE!!!

  • My dad showed my some of his favorit bands back in the 60's, 70's and 80's :D I totaly fell for this x] Cant stop listening...I wonder how many 13 year old boys there is that listening to this x]

  • me =D

  • And me! =D

  • Yay xD!

  • i'm 15 but i think it's the same xD

  • I'm 13 and love this

  • im happy that you are so young and like this music :')

  • I'm 24, he's 13, and you're older i guess.... we've all heard it. i'm sure kids being born will in a few decades who grow up listening to it. i'm still not sure if i think it's incredibly simple and dumb or incredibly good.

  • uumm i am happy that he isnt hearing that shit music of this years..

  • I`m 14 and I love it to,

MIke Oldfield is just a genious!!!

  • im 15 but me too!

  • well, I`m 14 and have been listening to this my hole life, does that count?

  • There is not 1 thing wrong with Tubular bells apart from lack of lyrics =]

  • lol that's true =))

  • nah lyrics would only have taken away from it

  • Tubular bells, great album

  • Thanxx whobear for posting the three parts.great great great!!!

  • Honestly the highlight of the whole show is the sideburns on Morris Pert. But seriously though, the sheer energy they've put into this performance rules over anything Mike ever recorded. Plus it's great to see some of the later albums like Five Miles Out and Crises being still in development here under the guise of Taurus. Great show!

  • omg, i cannot believ he was a little oder than me on this concert... im such a looser... icannot even play guitar :)

  • hey, youre not the looser, just he was awesome, my uncle started playin guitar aged 43, its never too late!

  • The band is great and the quality of the music is marvellous!!!! 0ldfield rules!!!

  • I wish I could get the tab for this

  • the person on piano/keyboard freaks me out

  • Anyway, he is a great keyboard player.

  • nah.. man he shows a bit of personality. digging it!

  • He kind of looks like a rat

  • He looks like Jimm Carrey in younger days xD

  • quite cool though! who is he?

  • give it 100 years or so and this will be classical music

  • Dose anyone know what pickups are on that gibson SG

  • his gibson SG guitar has one P90 pickup in the bridge.

  • i love this ol song soo much lol and im only 15 atm so before my time but amazin none the less and haha the singer looks distraught lol likes shes shat herself or pregnant

  • who is the drummer? u see the shame in the guitarist's eyes as he fumbles a mere 3 or four notes through this entire spectacle. genius. who is the drummer please? peace. is that kate bush singing? peace

  • The drummer, who looks like Animal from Muppet Show, is Morris Pert. Played many gigs with Mike.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahaha... perfect !!!

  • i dont no much bout this artist band but all i no is the music is fantastic and the lead guitar guy wouldnt look out of place now dressin like that i mean the shirt the haircut the sweat band looks like hes just gone back in time looking at all the other guys lol

  • obvious you know nothing bout Mike Oldfield so shh

  • frackin' awesome. always inspiring to see such genius on display!! wish I could have seen him when i was younger.

  • fantastic discipline

  • A large (well, about 5 minutes) chunk has been missed out from in between part 1a and part 1b. That tragedy aside, this is great as ever.

  • fucking awesome like allways :) good job mike

  • Dub Dib Dub DibDub Dub Dib Dub DibDubDub

    Its greaaaaaat lol

  • what is she wearing??????

  • An aftershock of the 70s.

  • Wow! is an extasis.

  • I would give it 5 stars but that woman's voice just about ruined the whole thing for me!

  • Hah, gotta love how you can see the pot smoke wafting above the crowd.

  • Mike is great, but I do HATE Maggie!! An awful woman with a screeching voice... incredible.

  • Are you kidding me? Great jazz/fusion vocals, man.

  • I would not consider them "jazz/fusion" volcals, but hse does have a well trained voice, has great pitch and is very precise. Quite beautiful actually.

  • I don't know about the voice, but was actually surprised that MO is 'classified' as a progrocker, Next to Yes, Genesis and ELP. Nothing against, I love his music, and it definitely has elements of progressive rock. Besides, who cares, his music is amazing!

  • Genesis and Yes are brilliant too.

  • so awesome

  • Maggie is so cute, and I love her

  • I love this music but where was the tubular bells?

  • hey, wasn't there a live recording of this done in the 70's, i know I've seen footage somewhere ....

  • the song was recorded in 1973 or somewhere round there

i can imagine there will have been a live recording then.
