Just a question why are we always keeping D strong open ... arent we suppose to play D string at different frets to make different chords ....

well im pretty sure triad is a 3 string chord. so hes only playing g b and e

You can certainly add notes to the chord but these will be repetitions of notes already included in the chord.

Hmm. Changing between minor and major triad shapes does my noggin in since I need to figure out where my rearranged fingers are in relation to the root. Study, study and more blasted study. These whacked out, drooling guitar-stoners must be smarter than they look.
