  • This specific video is not for any type of medication that requires aspiration this is regarding our produts of Trim™ Methylcobalamin Max and HCG injections.

    Thanks for the comments!

Also just so you all know she was nervous. This was her first time being on camera and it is for all to see! Thanks Kathy!

  • ...and she forgot to SAY inject the same amount of AIR into the vial as medication she's withdrawing. She DID draw up the air and inject it, she just didn't SAY she did that step at 1:44 minutes in.

  • @megalith100 You can give subcut injections at 45-90 degrees.

  • @Rizmaestro it depends on the syringe being used and the amount of fat tissues of the patient

  • aspiration for subQ injection is a must.. why? because we are giving medication via subQ in order to 'slow down' the drug absorption into the body... how if one in one hundred, we accidentally hit the vein, you cud put the patients life at risk.. Lets say, we are giving epinephrine subQ, and accidentally we hit the vein in the fat tissue... pt cud suffer HPN urgency...

  • I don't worry about gloves. Worst case scenario, I poke myself with a sterile needle. A glove wouldn't prevent that anyway. After the skin is cleaned with alcohol, don't touch the area of the injection.

  • She didn't need to wipe the bottle, because it was already sterile under the cap. However, it'll need to be wiped before it's used again. You don't need to dry the skin with anything. Just wait about 15 seconds before giving the shot. The alcohol will be evaporated.

  • "Aspirating," the practice of pulling back to ensure a vein isn't being hit, isn't anything to worry about with SQ injections. The areas used aren't vascularized sufficiently to make that an issue. IM injections should always be preceded by "drawing back," because arteries are deep, and not visible. If you can't avoid hitting a vein, find a different line of work.

The injection angle isn't critical with a SQ, unless there isn't much fat present.

  • ok i was taught to cealn area wiht a circular motion to prevent debrisfrom entering skin? second

she is supposed to pull before pushing to make sure she is not injecting into a vein! if no blood comes into needle then is sage to inject.

    even i know that!

  • @eLoveCR7 oh my! clean are with a circular motion not up and down! le t it air dry

pull to make sure no vein is bein used to inject, if no sign of blood then is ok to inject.

  • News. The angle at which the injection was given in this video was 90 degrees, not 45 degrees, as stated incorrectly by the nurse. They need to re-edit the video with the correct information. 90 degrees is perpendicular to the surface, as was shown in the video. 45 degrees is half that angle. Learn geometry.

  • "if you're giving it to a client you will need to wear gloves" hmm the irony. I especially enjoyed where she cross contaminated both cleaning with alcohol and again drying with the cotton. If you're representing your employer, at least try and represent them in the best way possible.

  • it can be give between 45 and 90 degrees depending on the persons fat content on the specific location

  • she supposed to inject SQ at a 45 deg. angle. She was giving it incorrectly like an IM

  • This is a helpful video too!
