Yeah The Replacements are give many props by many bands over the years. You wouldn't have Green Day without them or a lot of other bands. They would have been bigger than the rolling stones had they given a damn....but then glad they didn't.
I understand being glad and having the Replacements for our own but it would be nice to whisper The Replacements in the ear of a girl and shes says "let's go to bed right now".
@11xzxzxz A rare one, apparently...Funny because no one I've dated since even knows who they are. Deal breaker. Next to (apples/oranges) Tom Petty, best band ever.
@santamonicagirl1980 Only 2 women I have ever talked to could name 1 song by them. Even on YT I see mostly guys like them and they all seemed to like them drunk which I can't understand that appeal at all. Seems I am in the minority of "sounded better sober". A doc "color me impressed" had the director explain just how confused and contradictory the band was .. who knew what the hell they wanted the most? To drink or not to drink too excess or success, that is the question..
I think Paul ultimately solved that question... sober and still a genius. Kiss me on the bus is one of the most romantic songs ever written. And When It Began? Ugh, just awesome.
@santamonicagirl1980 Yeah those are two great songs... If you knew how I felt you wouldn't act so adult. Would have been a billion seller but "your tongue your transfer" was immoral, so wrong. I also like Nobody, Sadly Beautiful, All Shock down from the last Replacements and 14 songs has got the beautiful "Things though and "Last Glimmer and "Knockin' on Mine .. Paul did an even better version of Knockin' on mine on Sat nite live, i think.
This is a wonderful song, the song that introduced me to the warped world of the mats. Those that know, know. Those that don't...never mind. My question is: Was there a rule in the Replacements that the lead guitarist must resemble Christopher Walken? I mean, both Bob and Slim could be mistaken for him. :)
Sorry but your are clueless. Th Replacements were one of the most influential ROCK and ROLL bands of the 1980's. And they laid the grounwork for countless "alternative" bands in the '90's and '00's. Let me guess you're an Incubus fan?
i was listening to a band called the Casualties for the first time and they sucked so I decided to listen to this song

Westerberg has continued refining his craft, evolving along just fine, heard he's got a son who helped change his life.

I just bought "Let It Be" the other day. they remind me of early Green Day. Peter Buck (who played this on the album) did a great job too

They weren't really influential-they just had the attitude, you know? The attitude carries on.
