  • if that was my dog it would bite that baby's hand within the first 5 seconds. lol so cute

  • You are very lucky with the patience of the dog. Most dogs will (rightfully so) bite after this much ears- and eye-picking. Please, with all due respect, don't allow a baby to do this to a dog. It can go right many times, but there will come a time when a dog that says no. Great dog btw, and a great kid ;)

  • omg this video is plain cute. Clearly the Bassett is fine as it moves everytime the baby is too annoying. I love it its funny. My baby cousin use to do this to our great dane until he would walk away.

  • I get why a lot of people are complaining about the roughness (the nose excavation made me cringe) but it's not a big deal. If the dog didn't like it she would've left, bassets are extremely patient but when they've had enough they'll move. I was raised with one from birth and did PLENTY to him, as children do. He'd just lay there and take it, if he didn't like what I was doing he'd get up and move to a different spot and keep moving from spot to spot until I got the hint. He was an awesome dog.

  • Great video and great experience, forget everybody else who has a problem with it.

  • ddd

  • you guys are a bunch of whiners.. relax people!!!!

  • EVIL BABY!!!!!!!!

  • Not to be rude, but this is horrible. You need to teach your baby to be more gentle. And this is nothing to make a youtube video about.....

  • This child is clearly abusing this poor basset hound. I believe someone should contact basset rescue in the area the poster lives in. That dog is screaming "RESCUE ME". Look at how evil the child looks, like he is a demon from hell. They must separate child and basset. The child should be given away to a baby shelter. Don;t worry if their is a high kill rate. You have a cute baby, he will go right away. Too bad we can't find a nice farm where he would be happy on.

  • @Chrysaphius

Oh very droll. If you could learn to spell I might take your comments a bit more seriously. Well can't win them all.

  • @msmoppett I spelled everything correctly. The only issue was with reference to my incorrect usage of "their" instead of "there". That's still not a spelling error. Moreover it clearly doesn't negate the abuse your dog is being subjected to. You should teach your child to be gentle, and not allow him to continue poking the dog's eyes.

  • @Chrysaphius He was young. leave him alone.

  • I think the bassett hound is a great breed and this one is no exception in being a wonderful dog. The baby shouldnt be allowed to pick it that dog to test it cause we know he is a good dog, this is just inspiring bad behavior for all.

  • 0:26 evil eye

  • 0:27 evil eye!

  • The toddler looks pretty evil to me too.

  • The child could seriously injure the basset by accident with his probing fingers. If the basset were to react out of instinct and nip at the child and draw blood, the dog might face euthanasia. Probably best not to let the child poke the dog's eyes nor pull its ears. This is a common sens

  • @Chrysaphius basset hounds are the most loving pet there could be cause i have one so they wouldnt do that but u are correct the child doing that is not good for the dog i mean its hurting it and i can tell

  • The child could seriously injure the basset by accident with his probing fingers. If the basset were to react out of instinct and nip at the child and draw blood, the dog might face euthanasia. Probably best not to let the child poke the dog's eyes nor pull its ears. This is a common sense tip for those of us who have had basset for 80 years.

  • Pretty sure the basset would have given a more intense reaction if the baby was actually gouging his eyes out. Relax, the dog didn't seem to mind.

  • It's one thing to see a baby and Basset together and be cute. It's clear that the baby don't understand yet, but be an adult and don't encourage anymore rough housing by offering the dogs ear. The baby is exploring and the dogs eyes should not be the subject at hand. Please supervise and don't allow the dog to be subjected to that....

  • @lindanjulio1018

We've had Basset Hounds for more than 40 years: the one in the video is 7 years old so we think we know precisely how far to go. Wouldn't attempt this with any other breed. That's why I put it up.

  • Think the toddler was allowed to gouge poor bassets eye one time too many? Just a thought really?
