matt always talked about how they got high on shrooms and they wrote this song but obviously it was written long before that. He just put the riff in and changed the lyrics and because he was high they didnt make sense
Now we know why they can't seem to explain what Plug in Baby is about. They made it so early, they changed it a million times and it just became a great and globally admired song with an amazing riff.
This song either shows muse being more 'grunt' (remember the this is from the days this was a popular style) or they were musically less developed (or both), because if you listen to this, you hear much more simplistic and repetative chord progressions than in their later work. It kind of makes this a bit more boring to listen to, is my (personal) experience.
I think this is the greatest early song they ever recorded, I kinda prefer this version, but i'm glad they didn't go with this musical style, as it just seems to similar to almost any rock song, and i love muse for there diversity in there songs and uniqueness. Plug in baby, all versions will always be one of my favorite song by muse.
I do find it awsome to see how their songs developed in time. Now Plug In Baby is one of the best songs with incredible guitar riff, and, for what it's worth, it's my favorite one. I love the oportunity to hear the previous version of it :D
@chebaka4 the guitar tab seems to be just the chourus chords from the released version all the way through. for the epic intro its the same thing except for the string bend which follows the bass of the chorus from the original :P
part 2 lyrics: Electric love screens Have tempted me to jack it in Living lightly They come anywhere here Anywhere in my head I'm tired of thinking I never meant to love these machines But they obey my commands adeptly I will never ever die In their circuits I can survive Can you hear me I'm tired of living
I do the same thing lol. I prefer the old lyrics to the new. I'd give anything to hear Muse play Plug in Baby the old way. I have two or three PiB songs where he sings it the old way. You should download them sometime!
@jackle9 I have quite enough Muse in my Itunes for the moment I think.. It currently rests at 1067 songs+video's lmao. So I've probably got a few early versions in there somewhere ;)
Electric love screens have tempted me to jack it in. Living lightly. They come anywhere here, anywhere in my head. I'm tired of thinking. I never meant to love these machines but they obey my commands adeptly. I will never ever die in their circuits I can survive. Can you hear me? I'm tired of living. Oooh!
When I was poor and lonely they give me to her floor cause you're the only. I was tired of resting but I'm not even afraid cause you're the only. God was in me and I'm in virtual reality I'm tired of living. They come anywhere here, anywhere in my head cause I'm tired of thinking. I Never meant to love these machines but they obey my commands adeptly. I will never ever die In their circuits I can survive. Can you hear me? I'm tired of living.
Matt has always implied in interviews that he his an agnostic/atheist. That is he believes that there might be a supernatural power but cannot say what form it takes.
The line "God was in me" in this demo does not refer to the Chrisitan God if that's what you're thinking.
@citizenerasd89 that was quite a cool respomce coz of the smart feel in it ha ha lol x my friend likes muse and he is sort of on the same line as matt when it comes to religion x
This is truly amazing! Muse had been working on this song for at least 3 years! No wonder it is such a great song. The lyrics "God was in me" were part of the early versions of "Plug in Baby". Hope you guys play the early version again some day. Rock on Muse!
after listening to the album version loads this song sounds pretty good :) and the early plug in bay lyrics after this are cool to :)
