  • Why do you think that the government would be a good steward of trillions of dollars to run healthcare? They clearly have failed at other enterprises that should never have been in the hands of gov't (post office, medicare/medicaid, social security). This is a serious question. I am not here to bash you, only to understand why you think Obamacare is the answer. Thanks for your video

  • Fair questions, thanks for engaging. I think the government has been a good, but irresponsible steward of Medicare. With open online access to appropriations and spend, and implementation of the Mayo model, the costs savings will be incredibly aggressive. The popular mantra is to talk about what govt. has done bad. Let's do a little digging to talk about successes. They are there. If not for govt. initiatives and private contracts on projects ... you wouldn't be microwaving.

  • Here's my deal. We're Americans. We can make this work. To that end I'm going to take a stab at putting my demands for health care out there. This is just me trying to be engaged. I'm a fiscal conservative, and I've looked at this critically, and think that with medicare savings alone (rationing, whatever you wanna call it) we can cut the deficit in half, and actually improve Medicare services overall. We can do this.

  • Now is it just govt? No way. By utilizing web 2.0 tools and staying all over our leaders we can make them more accountable then they've ever been in human history. We won't let them hide. We can also remove state barriers, set 12 base plans through the health exchange, leave room for innovative business models, and hold ALL Medicare doctors to the Mayo model, giving them a timetable to conform, or step out and drop their medicare patients. Common man's thoughts, my friend. Thanks.

  • i live in texas but I 100% agree with you.

i wish more people were "critical thinkers"

    keep it up

  • Thank you for posting this. It was a joy to be at the rally with my kids on Thursday among 'like-minded' people as you say.

I live near Monticello, where I know 3(!) other Democrats, none of whom want to be publicly known. I feel very alone.

My cousins are all religious right-wing nuts, and I've gotten tired of putting proof before their noses and receiving nonsense in reply. Yes, critical thinking is in short supply in this state.

  • It is, it truly is. But there are far more of us than people realize. Don't lose heart! As I tell folks all the time, I'm not about winning these debates, I'm about moving minds, and clarifying perspectives. Doing that at the lower level, can equate to a real WIN in the aggregate, such is the effort on Health Care Reform! Yes we can!

  • Hi DSBROWN... I am glad to see you are still hanging in there. Just remember it is darkest before the dawn. Do not forget to watch the President on Wednesday. :)

  • I'm on it!

  • Why do the republicans or republican supporters in your country keep getting communists and Nazis mixed up? I mean the fascist, nazi party in Germany and socialist ideas are like polar opposites. In fact on the political scale of right to left (right being fascism and left being communism) the republican party is far right where as democrats are more centre.

  • They spit words they have heard on the telly that they do not understand. The American peasantry is highly uneducated, overly religious, and deeply emotional--a cocktail that brings the worst in people.

  • And we can display some real

paranoia. The latest edition of the

Economist has an article on paranoia

in American politics. Their is plenty of

    this in America's right wing.
