I remember the one in about 67-68 was just as good but you could see it coming from a long way off and it was eerily calm before it hit. The sky turned from yellow to orange to red then brown and black and the wind was terrific when it finally hit. We all got sent home from school, 1st grade for me, which was funny because we didn't have our parents to pick us up. LOL. They wouldn't do it now....would they???
It's a shame the BIG dust storm was masked by the dust.
Today I had a clean up and I dont think I will ever look at dust storms the same way again....they are frightening if your alone...and yes....they can hurt you...flying debri is very scarey in it own right....Thanks fo sharing guys...
I finally got the kids and went out to feed my horse...tell Jarrod...lol...they were calm as...surprisingly......The dirt hitting us was like sharp pins......scarey...and when I got home and looked in the mirror...I was a tinge of red...
Kids were in lock down at the local BHHS & I got caught out in this in Bromide street trying to pick them up,it took less then 30secs from a red sky to a black night sky, very scarey when the car started to rock & I could hear things bashing into the roof. I couldnt even see if I was under a tree when I pulled over but I couldn't see the road ahead even with high beam on so I decided to sit it out & wait a while.
Did you film this with a potato? ...and did norman guntston say "feel my clock" lol

Fuck the dust storm, 48 years in Broken Hill is the scariest shit I've ever heard.
Someone needs to kidnap that poor prick and send him to Rome, Osaka, NY or somewhere else exciting... 48 years... my god.

Do you have a chicken farm or some such thing?
.
I hope so.
Cheers.

"Forty eight years in Broken Hill, and that's as bad as I've ever seen it." Is it climate change, or just bad land management by farmers?

one thing the camera guy needs a way better camera.

It might not be the camera, it might just be a bad compression.

That would have been the one that hit Adelaide. Torrential rain occurred while the dust was over Adelaide and it rained pure mud!

It's a pity the guy can't even tell the time. He tries to be so accurate and tell the time to the exact minute....FAIL!!!

Just a shame the quality of the footage wasn't better. Otherwise this was a great insight to what happened in the TRUE dust storm of NSW! LOL

Yep, it is the worst storm I have seen in my entire 36 years of being here, the last storm that was close to this was recorded in 1926.
