The scariest thing that happened when I went there was the tour guide's tight trousers.

I did the tour a couple of days ago and it was amazing. Our tour guide told us that a majority of the vaults were sectioned up, unsafe (not necessarily because of paranormal activity but pressure, etc, it would be dangerous) or they are blocked up (as @jamiegobangbang stated). And you wouldn't be able to do it without a tour as all the entries are gated up. Would love to go on the tour again, learnt a lot about the history of Edinburgh and it was creepy as hell.

Hilarious. These were bought in the 70s for about 300 pounds (one room). The buyer started knocking down a few walls and discovered a warren which he turned into band practice rooms. I practiced there for about 4 years. The room we practiced in is now number one "woo-woo scary" room on these tours. If you believe this shit you will believe anything.

The crappy tours that go below do no justice to it. I only saw a few rooms. I didn't even know they went further. But apparently they do. Might have been more interesting to go through all of them, but we didn't have time to figure out how to get there without a tour.

@PahaLukki you cant see all of the entire vault system as it has all been sectioned up now! plus 60% of the system is still uncovered and blocked up. you cant get in without going on a "Crappy tour" and whoever told you that you could go through all of them was talking crap.

@suicidewillie lol yeah, its interesting to me that those things happen. i know that ghosts don't show themselves, and some are there and not visible. it would be nice for them to show up on a working schedule, lol. A ghost will see someone come in and yell at the others: "Alright guys, let's get to it!" yeah, i have no idea what the hell i said that for, lol. (^_^)

Ireland and thier castles. had family that traveled there about 10 years ago. they went to Galway where our family comes from and their were a good 8-10 different pictures that were taken all at differeent location in ireland and they were all what you would call "suspect" My grandmother who owns the photos has shown them to us along with the hundereds of others yet those 8-10 still stand out as the craziest pictures I have ever seen. "people" randomly next to family members that didnt see them

oh no pressure i am very interested in it as well. I will try to get them casue my grandmother still has them. If I can borrow them to get it uploaded I most definitaly will. One thing that has brought me into the paranormal jsut like most is not only those pics but a personal expeirence to go with it.....It was from a previous residence of mine. at the time just myself wife and newborn son. Pretty creep stuff happened in our two bedroom apartment....can tell u more just runiing out of room.....

Good video. Not overstated. The vaults the most haunted site ? Britain must be the most haunted place on the planet ! Not surprising , just look at its brutal history! What other places in Europe are comparable to Britain when it comes to hauntings?

Went on the Mercat tour last week. I had a great time,even though it is creepy when you hear rustling or weird noises.Would love to go back again sometime and spend more time in the vaults!

I would recommend the vault tour. I saw blood dripping from the walls and demons hanging from the ceilings, that were not there. Our guide refused to come in to a room with us that had a huge fireplace, saying a little girl previously on the tour was burned by the fireplace with no fire. Believe it, the next day, my face and arms were all red and burned. I had been looking right in the fireplace to see what the fuss was! I had not been near any sun. It was November 1997. Cool tour!

I have been on the mercat tour. If you want to be scientific about it, alot of things are psycopsymatic, so believe nothing they tell you to be objective, also the floors are divited and uneven as well as few light sources to keep visual referance so at times it feels like you are walking on a ship.

At 1:05 you can clearly see the ghost that i think is known as the gatekeeper(not sure of that name)

However i do know that the description of him was tall with hair pulled back suit on and melted face.

I've been in those vaults and I have never been so terrified in my life. There is most definitely something down there watching you. I was so close to running out . you must be very brave to spend the night! Good luck!

yeah will do iv done all the tours in edinburgh and done the grey friars kirkyard tour 5 times! this is the first of me doin an all nighter in the vaults it cost 30 pounds so i hope i get my moneys worth lol if you go on mercat tours web page you can read all the details and book it
