A personal favorite to use when controlling someones back. Breathings obstructed, hard to escape, plus strikes are easy to throw if in an actual fight.
Definitely agree, this is my go-to way to hold back control because if you do it right, it's incredibly constricting and demoralizing. Also you can whip out an armbar crazy fast if things go right.
i only found out this was legal in BJJ competition yesterday when i got caught in one. was so tight i nearly tapped, but luckily for me his legs tired and i managed to turn in to him. I was suprised how effective it was (on his part)
hi, does anyone know if there is video up on how to do eddie bravos kamakazee claf crank from half guard. i saw him do it in a competition and i sometimes get it but i usually don't . is there a video up of this??
Saw this vid this afternoon(another great lesson, thank you!) and was watching TUF tonight when George caught John in an anaconda body lock. George made the mistake of getting his foot under John's leg and I'm screaming YES, YES! Hook the ankle and PULL!! lol Guess John didn't see this vid! ;-) Great move, thanks for all your great teachings on here, keep up the great work!!
If the top-side leg is a higher-percentage, why not just start with that one and skip the bottom-side leg altogether? Is there a risk to using the top leg?
body triangles are really good for guys like me with long legs, but i think trapping an arm with ur leg is the best option for when u take the back, little risky maybe but if u trap the arm their fucked.
Great video, I love using this lock to set up my RNCs, and it's nice to see the details of the proper counter so I know what to look for.
Any tips for what to do if you have the anaconda body triangle and they roll to their stomachs? It seems to have questionable success in that position, so should you swtich back to just your hooks or what?
Nobody will ever roll to their stomach! If they do, than they actually are helping you out. Just flatten them out, and that can be enough to get them to sumbit in itself.
nice anaconda body lock, and i like that ankle lock never thought about that one before. is there a school associated with 10th planet school in new york
I would like to see someone do this in an MMA match. Would be kind of funny to see someone tap when they are in a dominant position and can use strikes. This is a great move by the way.
Nice! Hey Ari do you always go for the body triangle when you get the back instead of staying with the hooks in? I always wondered which one was really more effective, and I noticed that Marcelo never attempts a triangle from the back, but maybe his legs are just too short.
I PERSONALLY don't use the anaconda from the back as much as just having my hooks in. I'd rather just have my hooks because it allow me to transfer to other moves if need be quickly.
I like to go for the ankle lock when people attempt it on me however ;-)
you should never body lock like that you can get submitted ... with a leg lock

Great option if you can get it. We call this the 'Doerksen' in the 10th Planet System. BJ Penn is big on it as well.

if they go belly down you win. Spinal Crank just sprawl your hips straight down and arch your back. throw strikes if needed.

The conda switch has happened lots in MMA. It isn't anything new, but rather a tactic used.

you really need to make videos just for small people that grapple larger people.
