We should only give to people who need it; thats what the bible says. Being a christian has nothing to do with your money. We are save by grace and faith. Man has made the gosple of Jesus christ all about money. Its sad.
It's a kind of spiritual snobbery that makes people think they can be happy living without money, while you have several jets parked at the airport. Living in a house worth millions, and continue to beg millions of people for there grocery money to pay for all that.
Exodus Chapter 20:Vers.17 the tenth commandment: Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Why does God need money? It reminds of a Star Trek episode where Captain Kirk comes upon an alien who says he is God. The Alien tells Kirk need needs a spaceship to get back to earth to save the people. Kirk is no dummy, he realizes that God would never need a spaceship, god can go anywhere. I the same way God does not need our money. Man does. All God want is your life of righteousness.
Amen my Friend! God loves a cheerful giver, and a true follower of Christ's giving extends far beyond money! God has opened your understanding to his wonderful truth concerning the imposition of the tithe. It is my prayer that you continue to seek the truth of the scriptures in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Be empowered!
Yes, paying tithes, attending church, reading the scriptures or praying wont make us righteous. Christ has already made us righteous.
But, being under grace and grace abounding more, since we are not under the law, we do these things now out of love not trying to attain what we already have. So I, the righteousness of God tithe because I love God.
You have taken an interesting position as it pertains to paying tithes. Comparing it to reading the Bible, going to church, praying and fasting. As you know, these actions are all works. Now, if you believe the Scriptures teach what you have written, by all means continue to pay your tithes. I will continue to be a Cheerful Giver unbound by any Israelite ordinances by percentages promoting promises that God has already given to the Children of His Kingdom. Fair enough.
Yes...we will be judged according to our works, and the Bible says that. We all won't get the same rewards in Heaven, even though we who are saved get the MAIN gift of Salvation. Tithes have always been a "freewill action". Yes, we are supposed to honor Yahweh with our possessions because it belongs to him anyways. Jesus came to fulfill the law, not abolish it. He said to be perfect as the Father is perfect. You see tithes as a "law", I see it as an "honor"
Fair enough. However, I must correct you on one point. It's not what I see, It's what the word of God speaks. The tithe was clearly established as law for the Children of Israel. Tithes are not a freewill action acording to Scripture. Numbers, Deut, Leviticus, Malachi, all support what God says about the tithe. I am bound to what God says. If you give me Book Chapter and verse where God says Tithing is a freewill action, I will study it. I'm always willing to study the Word of God. Thanks

I share teaching like this one to greedy pastors all the time. They refuse to discuss it. Blind guides are everywhere!
Do not give to these till they repent.

Paying tithes is just like reading the Bible, like going to church, like praying, like fasting...it's ALL a part of the relationship with Christ.
