i had mine for 20 months no problems but last week it did that :( BUT i had insurance on it xD whick only cost £30 so i get mine repaired withing 7-10 days with my call of duty 4 which was stuck inside and it works fine . anyone getting ps3 i would recommend getting insurance just to be safe

No it doesnt I had to replace my fucking blu ray drive 2 times and it freezes a lot. There are times it takes 3 minutes to accept a friend request and in most games the servers are shit. Im not going to lie I experienced a 3 ring once on my 360 but that was because I didnt put my hardrive on all the way.Face it ps3 has a lot of bad things about it just a lot of you fanboys arent going to say it because it wasnt on the news or anything. dude i had that problem...its an easy fix lol!!! i think you have to like hold the PS3 button on the controller when you turn on the system which will reset any graphic options that you had set. The yellow LED usually happens when a wire got pulled or the graphics cable changed without setting it up in the ps3 first.
