i have a powerglide 900 and I HATE THE SHIT OUTTA IT! had I waited more, I could have bought a dw5000 but no I had to have this piece of shit, screeching as brand new, and falling apart within a year...
@ArpeekA oh and mine didn't feature the cobra coil and the driveshaft lost a stud about a month ago, so the cardan joint is coming apart. it began having a backlash after 1 month of use. the screws had to be replaced because the threads have been torn off(probably my fault, but since then the new screws(taken from old drumming equipment) are in place, and treated as the old ones previously. (i bought the pedals about 3 years ago.)
@ArpeekA You should contact TAMA, obviously you got a crap one, I have to say mine is perfect, no screeching, nothing coming lose. Contact TAMA and email them pictures etc.
@JAMMAN1701 made in china...what did I expect? but still, after 3 years of use, they won't even bother reacting to any contact attempts. but thanks for the advice. just for the record: I use a tama drumkit, I love tama stuff, this wretched pedal is the only exception :)
I'm left handed, but i just found it easier to have the drums setup the normal way, with the hihat and snare on the left, and floor tom on the right, but I like hitting the hi- hat with my left hand, and snare with my right :) by the way, nice review, I think you should do the Tama Speed Cobra next! :-)

I have an Iron Cobra single pedal. I wanna start playing double bass, so I was wondering if its possible to buy some kind of addon thing to clutch a new Iron Cobra single pedal to my existing one. I have seen it on other pedals like Axis. Is it possible or do I have to buy a whole new double pedal ?
@Theo9559 The main difference is in the names bro, power has a harder stroke and rolling has a smoother stroke. Hope this helps :-) I'll have that pint now ;)
@JAMMAN1701 Not quite, whist that is the end result, the difference is in the CAM, the powerglide Cam is offset and bows out so when the pedal comes down, it 'automatically' provides more power in to the drum head.
Rolling Glide is just a traditional cam with an equal curve all the way round.
I want one. In fact, I will most likely get one soon :j The only problem I can foresee is that it costs around $700-$800 in Australia ._. I've got bills to pay damn it!
How does the slave pedal compare to the main pedal in the sense of control? In other words does the slave pedal feel just as easy to control and use as the main pedal or do you have to push down a little harder to get it to hit the bass?

@JAMMAN1701 Actually, u can just use the right one as the main one anyway because they both function like a normal pedal. Or just buy the righty vesion in the first place.
Irish or not. .you guys gotta admit how helpful his videos are. and one quick tip from someone who owns an Iron Cobra Power Glide Double Bass pedal.. If something doesn't feel right, don't use it until u find out whats wrong and fix it.
That should go for all pedals.. but it particularly sucks when you break your brand new Iron Cobra's...

@85Aheadstix OK, I'd like to say a few things if I may. Firstly, your grammar is appalling. You needn't follow up every exclamation mark with a comma or full stop. Secondly, you used a double negative. Therefore, in effect, what you were actually saying is "I did get a bonus package". And thirdly, it's rather amusing that someone from Australia is calling someone from Ireland (because that is where he is from) scum. You fucking jail breaker!
i was thinking of getting some tama iron cobras and i was deciding between power glide or rolling glide
does any 1 know if the power glide makes any difference to the speed at all as its got a wierer cam im quessing it can effect the speed and accuracy Compared to the rolling glide
so what would you guys surggest rolling glide or power glide my bets on the rolling at the moment :D?
Hey buddy, I have the iorn cobra double pedals but have been having trouble getting them to a setting I like. Do you know if I can get the cobra coils and install them on my pedals to improve them? I do not have the part number from my cobras but will take a look and see! Good info what beater heads do you like best?
Please don't read me what is on the box... I can see it just fine. Keep in mind the beater head adjustment is not related to the IC pedal, you can buy the beaters/shaft w/o the pedal and get that adjustment. I do agree though, it is nice to have full contact with the BD head.
I realized that my Iron Cobra double bass pedal doesnt have that red "P" on the pedals, mine says "Power Glide". Does that mean that mine is an older model/version? Because I got mine used from a local guy for $225. And also, my pedal doesn't have the cobra coil, is there any way to buy and install that to my pedal? It'd be really helpful if you answered me these questions, thanks.
@shadowforc30 You should be able to buy the cobra coils seperatly. If in doubt bring the pedal with u to a music store and ask them if u can get the cobra coil.
Yes it means you have an older model (pre 2007). Check the top of the bearings; there are no screws on top. More importante there will be no holes in the baseplate so without drilling, the cobra coil won't fit. Then again, it works great without the coil so dont worry.
Just recently got a used lefty power glide .Question ,i can't lock it down to my D.W.practice kit .The locking mechanisms won't tighten enough to secure it to the practice kits bass drum plate. It's much thinner then a bass drum hoop .Should there be a lock down nut that goes on the screw that pops through the plate between the two lock down devices where the bare screw pops through ?. Is the pedal missing something can't tell ?.
@TheChiFlows to be honest, i would have to take a look at the pedal to know if there was something missing from it, would help to see the bassdrum hoop also. There should be 2 silver screws for clamping it onto the bassdrum hoop. make sure ur twisting both screws to get the best clamp to the hoop
when you got these at first, did both pedals have about the same resistance on each pedal? cuz each pedal i buy every time the slave pedal has much more resistance than the master pedal, and it seemingly cant be adjusted.
@HaimeToroPath You cant do that with the Iron Cobras, The slave pedal needs to be connected to the master pedal to work. Research it because there maybe a company who do this :)
PLEASE HELP!.do you think i should save up for this or the dw 5002??? the dw ones are about 280 and these 400. i am on a budget, can anyone suggest anything?? ( i am irish 2!!!)
@henotsuke I have never tried converting a right foot pedal to a left foot pedal so I am not sure if u can do this with the Iron cobra. I have heard of other brands where u can do this tho.
i'm waiting on mine...its gonna be fucking 4 days cause i live in VA and its being shipped from NV it feels like i am a five year old kid waiting on christmas...
im a lefty too!! how much were these pedals? why are lefty pedals so expensive, its soo annoying i got some pdp things and they are a load of shit! how good are these pedals for the heel toe technique?
"that's what she said" ..nice touch that! Can't understand people shhpendin' mad money on these fancy pants direct drive longboard pedals.. It's a loada aul feckin nyyonsense haigh! All ya need is them sexy iron cobras!!
@zysilveria47 depends on what you're playing. if you play really fast death metal and need to be able to play 16th notes at 250+ then probably the axis. iron cobra can go that fast too if you're god. iron cobras feel better and are much higher quality parts as i hear that the axis pedal's bearings wear out easily. iron cobra is really good for speed too, just listen to mike portnoy on avenged sevenfold's new album.
@drda94 They both have the same features, just a different cam shape. The rolling glide is a round cam (as the name implies) so it's sort of the average pedal feel. The power glide's cam is angled or offset, this allows for a more powerful stroke.
Thats just stating the basics. If you look into it online you may find out better info that what I said here.
@FamilyGuy12693 yeah, right handed will always be available with any setup, it's the most common configuration. if anything, i'd worry if anything would be left handed setup compatible.
I've had my PG Cobra's for about 6 years and have never experienced a problem with the pedals. These pedals are HEAVY duty. I do about 70-80 shows a year on the road and they just hold up. I will say that the linkage has a lot more play in it and I've replaced the small tuning rods that hold the linkage to the pedal and to itself. Replaced with Allen bolts. I would like to try the Speed Cobra when it is available.
i dont think going to the 9000 is the best idea. ive played both. and personnaly iron cobra feels wayyy better. but its just my personal taste. go for whatever works best for you man.
@llShadowXll7ll Best investment I ever made. I went from Coda to these. Just installed them a few hours ago and they sound fucking amazing. I love them.
Shoo I'm newb to drumming an I tried these at GC . Either the ones there were old or they were just dang heavy

im trying to decide between iron cobras or axis longboards...
zysilveria47 1 year ago
@zysilveria47 depends on what you're playing. if you play really fast death metal and need to be able to play 16th notes at 250+ then probably the axis. iron cobra can go that fast too if you're god. iron cobras feel better and are much higher quality parts as i hear that the axis pedal's bearings wear out easily. iron cobra is really good for speed too, just listen to mike portnoy on avenged sevenfold's new album.

@drumdemon3 the thing that beats the drums is not the same
mankepierdasss 1 year ago
@drda94 They both have the same features, just a different cam shape. The rolling glide is a round cam (as the name implies) so it's sort of the average pedal feel. The power glide's cam is angled or offset, this allows for a more powerful stroke.
Thats just stating the basics. If you look into it online you may find out better info that what I said here.
Hope this helps!

This pedal looks awesome. And i don't know if this had already been asked, but can this also be set up for a right handed player setup?
FamilyGuy12693 1 year ago
@FamilyGuy12693 yeah, right handed will always be available with any setup, it's the most common configuration. if anything, i'd worry if anything would be left handed setup compatible.

i'm thinking about buying such one.
but maybe I should buy the speed cobra.
what should i do?
snake006006 1 year ago
I've had my PG Cobra's for about 6 years and have never experienced a problem with the pedals. These pedals are HEAVY duty. I do about 70-80 shows a year on the road and they just hold up. I will say that the linkage has a lot more play in it and I've replaced the small tuning rods that hold the linkage to the pedal and to itself. Replaced with Allen bolts. I would like to try the Speed Cobra when it is available.
