It will explain the "unsportsman like conduct" penalty (15 yards), and why...Players and/or coaches cannot decieve the defense into thinking that the ball is not about to become live, either thru action, or verbage. @JKSusie It depends on how it was used. I watched a game that had one team down 28 -0. The team on the loosing end employed this play just to get on the board. No hard feeling, no poor sportsmanship. Just one team with much better players giving up one score to another, lesser team. Just FYI, the kids that were up were largely 11YOA kids playing a team of mostly 9YOA kids.

While this situation isn’t expressly prohibited by rule, I would have thrown a flag on the play and called it back because it is illegal to do things that circumvent the rules in an unsporting way. That allows a lot of judgment to be in play by the officials. I think every official I know would call this back. Football is really big into the spirit of fair play…and this is not within that spirit.
