no way. the only thing what handles Crysis maxed out [absolutely, included Resolution and 8x AA] is an ATi HD5970 and i7 cpu. with 6gigs of ddr3 ;) so please people stop telling that the rig with 9800gtx, gtx295 in quad even can handle the game with frames upper than 59 frames.

I personally wouldn't, I play a game made in 2002 on the lowest settings and I still only get about 20fps if i'm lucky. Graphics really don't affect the playability of the game, lag does.
Yes. A Core2Duo E4300 or a AMD x2 4400 für example would be a fine ground for playing modern games. Crysis would run with the same videocard at 1024x768 and low details smoothly enough to have most fun with this game.
ive got a Intel Pentium 4 CPU @3.20 GHz, same as yours, but i just bought a dual core 3.2ghz and my graphic card is an ASUS EN8800GS, its an extreme overclocking version of the 8800gs series, and i get about 20minimum frames running at 1280x 1024 and 40 maximum frames. on medium with no aa no and no vsync.
i have a evga 8500GT, it's OC'd, I can play on med/high just by turning view distance to 30% and turning off all texture filtering, I get about 30 fps on average 22 at lowest.
you're probably right. i got this PC at least 4 years ago and upgraded it, but most of the hardware is still outdated by today's standards for gaming PCs.
@punkster4eva a 9800 or 8800 is fine for all your games , is just that directx11 shit that is ruining everything and now that fucking pci 3.0, you can also play on the lowest res or use the sli bridge whit other 8500 if you have 2 PCi ports.
"running Crysis on 8500 GT on medium settings mostly except for sound quality and physics quality, but they only affect CPU, i believe. i get about 14 frames per sec which is not playable.
on low settings it is just about playable, i get 20-30 frames per sec which is fine for crysis imo."
i've upgraded again to 7950GT which is a bit better than the 8500GT.
i haven't play the whole of crysis with the 8500GT, but on the first level, i did get 20-30 frames per sec which was just about playable. i think that on the other levels of crysis, it would have been a lot slower and unplayable with the 8500GT.
i think i played with 800X600 resolution.
i'm pretty sure that the 8500GT is better than your 6200...
@punkster4eva mine gets min 20 - 30 tru fax its overclocked to 650 mhz tough and I have 4gb of ram and I use a phenom II x4, I put everything on medium but whater and textures that are on high, i still have not reached the level were people say things get homo, anyway i am going to a 460 gtx 2 months from now aprox. I am poor you know
thats why its slow. you're using pentium 4 not a better cpu even its 3.0 Ghz, its not gonna help. upgrade your CPU. It might just help in medium settings.
no, i think it's more to do with the graphics card than the CPU as with most video games on PC. i did upgrade the graphics card and it was bit better.
I have a 8500GT 1Gb, 2Gb RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz system... so ill tell you this... dont blame the 8500GT cause you have a shitty Pentium 4... if you upgrade it to a Dual Core or Core 2 Duo at least youll have a better perfomance on your games... its not 8500GT fault... its your CPU man =)
Yeah, I got XP Pro. I just always like to be on the plus side you know? Seen as 1GB of DDR2 800 costs around $10 these days.
I was thinking on overclocking the processor to 4ghz. I took it down to my local PC store, he said its possible to push this to 4.2 if cooled right. So I said around 3.8 will do just fine.
The only think I just noticed is, I have a 3ghz HT not the 3.2ghz like I though. All I need extra he said is another 120MM fan mounted to the case to give it the cooling it needs.
i don't think there's much improvement (game performance wise) from overclocking that CPU. from what i've heard, the CPU we've got runs hot, so any more overclocking could mean a lot of heat. if i was you, i wouldn't bother with OCing it. just go for the graphics card upgrade if you want the most bang for buck.
i would not recommend the 8500GT. about 3 months ago i upgraded to a 7950GT which is better than 8500GT but to be fair, the 7950GT is still not satisfactory :P
if i was you, i'd look for a better graphics card. at least an 8600GT, otherwise you'll be hungry again for better graphics with the 8500GT.
So what is the top top top one out there at the moment? is it the 9800? I'm a broke ass motherfucker right now, I just bought my first car = face fucked insurance. So I'm in the minues atm. :)
9800GT is a good card, which is apparently the same as the 8800GT so you may as well get the 8800GT if you wanted to cop out that much money. depending on which country you're from, one card could be good value for me, but not good value for you. i'm from the UK and atm, online, the best value card i could buy is probably the 8600GT if i was in your position.
If you want a card that would last, I'd recommend going with the 9800 GT, the cost nowadays is around $100 which is pretty affordable for today's gamers, and offers high performance with a normal resolution. (AKA not extremely expensive monitors with high resolutions.) ;P
Save some more. In a few months the 4870 will be a budget card, the 260 too! But if you want a good card right now go with the 9800gt, mine's sitting under the tree right now. I'm using a PNY 8500gt 512mb ddr2 right now, It's not bad, but it's not that great either.
Sorry for the hrammAtical errors... it's like 2 a.m.
take in for example hes using single core 3 ghz with (dont know how much memory, guessing the minimum like the cpu) 1 gb, and a now so great psu... thats not bad, if you had anything a little more decent youd be going pretty good on medium for a cheap price.
apparently, the 8800GT has very similar performance to 9800Gt but is cheaper, so maybe you should get 8800GT instead? i'm not 100% sure on this so you might want to ask others before you follow my advice.
i have xfx 8500gt 1 giga,,,while i am playing games such nfs prostreet,,when i race,,there are white dots on the car,,,when i change the setting nvidia sittings, and i set it on performance,,the white dots disappear!!!,,tell me please what is happening??
most of the comments i've read about other people who have 8500GT say they get similar performance as me, maybe slightly better coz i have crapper hardware, but not much.
come on man thats shit i have amd athlon 64x 2 5000 + 1.50 gb ddr2 ram and a 8500gt 512 mb xfx and it runs so fast the is not even one glitch so is gears of wars and mass effect and assassins creed man they run like maximum hell speed man so this thing up there it aint true its shit
have you tested crysis using that card? well, i'm not lying about the framerates i get. it's most likely because we've got other different hardware. my other hardware is probably bottlenecking my GPU, which is why i posted the rest of my specs.
new graphics card is the most obvious thing to do. i'm getting a 7950GT for £53. when i finally get round to installing it, i'll let you know if it's worth purchasing.
i get about the same amount fps but i have pentium 4 2.80 ghz nivida Geforce 8500 gt 1 gig gddr2 and a big ass power supply and 1.5 gigs of gddr2 ram on my comp how can i get better fps and graphics if any one knows private message me thx
lol, dont mind what the guy recomends, for a low price u can get a 9600 gt and u can play crysis on dx10, some things on high others on medium, 2x aa if u want, and u get 20-30 fps... better than a 7950....
but 9600GT costs more than 7950GT, from the sites i've looked at like ebay. i don't think there's any need for DX10 yet, so i want to get the 7950GT still. then when DX10 becomes mandatory, then i'll go for a 9 series card possibly or even go with ATI cards, coz they've released some decent cards recently from what i've heard like the HD4850 and HD4870
mmm well 9 series now has been replaced with the gtx 260 and the 280 as far as i know.... Still if u want a decent low price vid card i'd recommend the 9600 gt, the price of 1 is below 150 dolars. Maybe u think dx10 is not like totally necessary now, but if ure not planning to upgrade in the next year or so, get a 9600 gt
graphics cards prices seem to be different in the UK where i live. I'm jealous of the US prices coz they seem so much cheaper. this is why i got the 7950GT, coz it was significantly cheaper than any other cards. almost half the price of the 8800GT and 9600GT
i had a P4 @ 3.0 ghz, 1.5 gb ddr2 ram and an ati raedon x1650 pro with 512 vram and i still ran this game better on medium with some minor settings adjustments..

I just found somthing interesting on eBay UK.
The 7900GS XT is:
1) Cheaper.
2) More Powerfull with almost double the speed.
The 8600GT is:
1) More expensive
2) Half the memory clock of the 7900GS.
3) Supports DX10!!
Damn! I was looking into GTA4, and I found out you need DX10 to play it. And the 7900 is not supported by it.
That sucks.

take in for example hes using single core 3 ghz with (dont know how much memory, guessing the minimum like the cpu) 1 gb, and a now so great psu... thats not bad, if you had anything a little more decent youd be going pretty good on medium for a cheap price.

yh naf card, best bang for buck at min is HD Radeon 4850 or Nvidia 9800GTX+
athompson1989 3 years ago
This card is actually pretty good when its overclocked:)
STEAMflipp25 3 years ago
I have the same card, same performance...
I'll got a 9800 GT soon as possible
RenatoCervati 3 years ago
apparently, the 8800GT has very similar performance to 9800Gt but is cheaper, so maybe you should get 8800GT instead? i'm not 100% sure on this so you might want to ask others before you follow my advice.
punkster4eva 3 years ago
this looks way too good to be an 8500gt
rocwiler0 3 years ago
it is way too good. if you look in my comments, i said the game on all medium settings gets an average framerate of 14fps which is crap.
punkster4eva 3 years ago
*RenatoCervati*, to answer the comment on *punkster4eva*, in fact there is no difference in terms of performance between the 8800 GT and the 9800 GT.
The advantage of the 9800 GT is a better cooler on the videocard, so if you wanna overclock your videocard in the futur, the 9800 GT is a good choice.
But if you don't plan to overclock your videocard, don't waste your money and go for the 8800GT who is as good as the 9800GT !
Good comment *punkster4eva* !
Take care guys,
May God bless you !

very shitty card, I would imagine punkster4 not recommending this card at all. trust me this isn't better then a high 7 series card.
bunuptoast 3 years ago
I had an 8500 GT but now I have a 9600 GT. Mass Effect runs six times faster now. :)
Fredvdp 3 years ago
this card sucks. don't waste your money on this shitty video card
jabron0000 3 years ago
amen to that brother. i've got a 7950GT now. it's quite a lot better.
punkster4eva 3 years ago
What card do you have?
STEAMflipp25 3 years ago
GeForce 8500 GT 512 MB
Windows Vista DX10
1 gig of RAM
AMD 3800+ 2.0 GHz Dual Core
And i can run crysis at medium-low settings (800x600) at around 25 fps.

mephistophales1990 3 years ago
may be cuz you are runnin the game on 64 bit dx10
reweshs 3 years ago
that can't be coz i'm using windows XP, so its 32 bit in DX9 mode.
punkster4eva 3 years ago
the game will wrk gdd with windows xp but not vista, if u hav XFX 8500GT 1GBDDR2..
mansu08 3 years ago
i dont know man this game runs great with me even mass effect runs better than this
reweshs 3 years ago
what are the rest of your PC specs?
punkster4eva 3 years ago
but still man if this was 8500 gt it should run a lot better
reweshs 3 years ago
most of the comments i've read about other people who have 8500GT say they get similar performance as me, maybe slightly better coz i have crapper hardware, but not much.
punkster4eva 3 years ago
ive had the same result with my 8500 gt
Destiny4Travail 3 years ago
its a nice video card. its not the best but its very decent
feuerzzz 3 years ago
this is actually pretty good for a 8500gt.
ryanoghlan 3 years ago
come on man thats shit i have amd athlon 64x 2 5000 + 1.50 gb ddr2 ram and a 8500gt 512 mb xfx and it runs so fast the is not even one glitch so is gears of wars and mass effect and assassins creed man they run like maximum hell speed man so this thing up there it aint true its shit
reweshs 3 years ago
have you tested crysis using that card? well, i'm not lying about the framerates i get. it's most likely because we've got other different hardware. my other hardware is probably bottlenecking my GPU, which is why i posted the rest of my specs.
punkster4eva 3 years ago
hey i have got a:
AMD athlon 64 x 2 5000+
2GB DDR2 Ram
250GB hardive Vista 32 bit
Nvidia Geforce 8500GT 1gbddr
but my crysis run bout the same on medium kinda slow, ny1 know how 2 speed it up lol..
mansu08 3 years ago
new graphics card is the most obvious thing to do. i'm getting a 7950GT for £53. when i finally get round to installing it, i'll let you know if it's worth purchasing.
punkster4eva 3 years ago
Change yoru graphic card and your PSU and your chassis.
A 8800GT will do the job.

StalkingyouXD 3 years ago
i'd suggest upgrading your graphics card. that's the biggest performance gain you'll get for the money.
punkster4eva 3 years ago
I would go for a new graphics card. look at the 4850 its the best mid range card for the price.
ryanoghlan 3 years ago
lol, dont mind what the guy recomends, for a low price u can get a 9600 gt and u can play crysis on dx10, some things on high others on medium, 2x aa if u want, and u get 20-30 fps... better than a 7950....
couldntgetanamelol 3 years ago
but 9600GT costs more than 7950GT, from the sites i've looked at like ebay. i don't think there's any need for DX10 yet, so i want to get the 7950GT still. then when DX10 becomes mandatory, then i'll go for a 9 series card possibly or even go with ATI cards, coz they've released some decent cards recently from what i've heard like the HD4850 and HD4870
punkster4eva 3 years ago
mmm well 9 series now has been replaced with the gtx 260 and the 280 as far as i know.... Still if u want a decent low price vid card i'd recommend the 9600 gt, the price of 1 is below 150 dolars. Maybe u think dx10 is not like totally necessary now, but if ure not planning to upgrade in the next year or so, get a 9600 gt
couldntgetanamelol 3 years ago
graphics cards prices seem to be different in the UK where i live. I'm jealous of the US prices coz they seem so much cheaper. this is why i got the 7950GT, coz it was significantly cheaper than any other cards. almost half the price of the 8800GT and 9600GT

do i detect some lag?
