@lapristine @lapristine Probably because they're quite dated now big in 70s but mostlyin the North. Dunno if they have them in your country. Basically Ladders used to be really expensive and people used to save up for years to get them, when couples baught a house they would live in the shell untill they could afford a ladder to decorate. So when they baught there first ladder they would invite all the naighbours who would bring there own ladders

@lapristine part 2: , then each time a new one is baught they have a party. Loads of people sitting on their ladders getting pissed basically. It's traditional to talk anout ladders and other things similar the whole time too.
