Yes Chris,Debbie,Jimmy were the main song writers. Nigel bass guitarist did write One Way Or Another and the brilliant Union City Blues with Debbie he joined the band after Gary go the sack. Gary guitarist wrote the stunning words to Presence Dear. This song X Offender was about Gary being arrested for under age sex and getting a girl pregnant. Though he didn't know the girl was under age as he met her in a nightclub and started seeing her. The original song was called Sex Offender.
@NormanStansfield1 Chris was one of their main songwriters AND he was Debbie's boyfriend .. plus this is just one clip. The whole group radiates charisma
Wow! It's VEVO and it didn't stall once; never saw that happen before. I love seeing them all decked out like this, but I miss that little rap thing at the opening.
I love this performance - everyone seems so youthful and alive - especially with all the dancing and bouncing around. This must have been before they all became stoners.
She's soooo HOT and that little Irish jigg Deborah does just makes it bizzaro cool! Imagine bringing out a song in todays bullshit P.C world with the end verse! And when i get out there's no doubt, ill be sex offensive to you!
Todays P.C feminazi crowd would be stabbing knitting needles into their ear drums and setting fire to shit while running around screaming BAN IT! BAAAAN IT!
on the record debbie says in the intro: i saw u standing on the corner, you looked so big and fine, I really wanted to go out with you, so i put my heart on the line...
some of these videos youtube viewers make using EMI content are pretty good, EMI should acquire them and use them, instead of blocking them, I mean , use them on EMI's channel, instead of deleting them off youtube, it's like good, free content people can still enjoy and EMI can PROFIT from.
while there are several reasons why it's great to be able to see early footage like this of Blondie,
one of the main ones is to be able to enjoy watching Debra Harry at the end of this vid, do the dance made famous years later by Molly Ringwald from "The Breakfast Club".
the part where debbie says "public defender" while raising her fist is the definition of ICONIC...
there is something very euphoric and liberating about this performance...I can't imagine someone watching this and not wanting to get up and start dancing...
It makes me sad that this type of music doesn't make it onto the radio or the charts anymore....
Love this song and video! It's so Stupid that Radio Stations made them change the Name from Sex Offender as X Offender is just 2 letters LESS! Love Debroah with her ponytail and pink combo! I Still have no clue why people don't lick Blondie's Debut Album as I think it's one of their BEST. LOVE DEBORAH HARRY AND BLONDIE!!!!!!!!
gary valentine still in the band. one of the joys of seeing this band was watching debbie dance (using that term loosely). it was fun and funny. oh, yeah, and that voice!
As far as I know, Gary V was kicked out/left after this first lp. he did contribute to the next lp "plastic letters" in the form of "i'm always touched by your presence".
Correct! That bit is cool, " I saw you on the corner, you looked so big and fine, I really wanted to go out with you, so when you smiled I laid my heart on the line...."

The best part was Gary Valentine, Clem Burke, Jimmy Destri and Debbie. They should have dumped Chris Stein - what a bore.

@lrd9999 Actually it's not Vevo.
borskyviolin 3 months ago
@borskyviolin Yes, it's a little odd that an emimusic video would still have the VEVO logo. There must be a wiki page on that somewhere.
