This is one reason why I don't worship on Sunday. I worship on the 7th Day Sabbath that's in black and white in the Bible. Because Constantine made Sunday their day of rest. Also, it wasn't a cross he saw, it was the letters "ex" that in Greek, represented "Christ". His vision was from Satan because God would not give you a vision to go against His commandments. Christianity is not the thing that is screwed up, it's the misguided, mislead people who claim to follow it. Constantine being the perfect example. First of all the Roman Empire fell 1453. Thats more than 1000 years after Constantines death. The Western part fell because it was weaker than the Eastern part of the empire. It had a smaller population and the economy was not that developed as it was in the East. In the old Empire the fortunes of the East were taken to boost development in the West. With the seperation of the Empire in two halves and institutionalizing the divide made the Western part and easy prey for the barbarians.
Also, dont forget that the Eastern empire under for example Justinian managed to reconquer a lot of the old Western half. Heraclius managed in the 7th century to destroy the Persian Empire once for all. So when you say that Constantine is a disgrace to Roman identity and more or less you mean the was the reason for the downfall of the empire. Thats plainly bullshit.
The Byzantine Empire had a lot of differences with the old Roman Empire, though. Its administration changed, its language was Greek, its territories were much smaller and it was nowhere near as cosmopolitan as it had been in the past (or even up to the time of the Arab invasions).
