Nice plane, but have to wonder why people like large scale models. I would rather be flying myself around, than just a large scale model. At some point the real thing is probably cheaper than a model. I hate to see the restrictions on ultralight planes getting tighter while models are still pretty loosely regulated. I miss my Cessna flying days and was hoping to build an ultralight, but looks like I will have to stick to models.
Watcing this video I realise that those who are not made for fliyng should do something elese! A landing manuver more stupid than this one I have never seen in my life!
That's a rather severe judgement for his maiden. Caps are wild. I personally like their wildness, but that's why they lost popularity. He may have gotten used to it after that first debacle.
KRAYZC1 - its a Carden Aircraft CAP232 using a 3W toc version 100cc twin cylinder. smoke system equipped. dual batteries ,all digital servos and single rx which recievd the glitch over d runway when the metal ignition casing caused a noise on its metal hook mounting. idle power vibrated the IS on its mounting, MY fault for the too soft a mount. Note that everything went ok after the engine died-no more low power induced vibration.this was my maiden flight on giant scale. almost totalled it. tnx
GUINNIE yup intentionally did a hot approach,it was my first try on giant scale and i knew CAPs have a nasty-no warning stall spin tendency so i elected to choose the safer choice. a stall spin would be more fatal for the plane if it occured.a definite bye bye plane scenario. plane now is bout 4yrs with me logging around 10 hrs a year only. thank god its still intact! iv learned to respect about caps bad habits. tnx tnx

pointless-I AM THE FLIER.Me?smoothness?sorry dude,i dont even pass straight and level on aerobatic planes. If u want smoothness, just fly f3a pattern.I dont fly to please audiences nor cameras.i fly for myself and i fly the way it would make me happy.that means il abuse and stress my plane as they are designed to be.Aerobats should be able to withstand + - 10gs.if they fold up,theyre not worthy to be called aerobatic planes. do u think i spent on this one to please other people?i fly for myself
dios, pero como puedes volar un cap, teniendo tan poca experiencia :S.. eso es lo que demuestras viendo este video... yo que me pensaba que iva a ser algo interesante :S:S... yo flipo con la gente que tiene tanta pasta... ai....
this video was taken a while back, i fly with this guy all the time. as far as i know during that time, it was only the carbon prop that broke. it was a rough landing but not enough to tear the plane apart.
So, what was the damage to this plane? It looks to me like the left landing gear hit hard, which twisted the entire front-end of the plane clockwise relative to the rest of the fuselage behind the landing gear. I doubt that's repairable.
Guys, if you impressed with Erwin's Giant Scale Cap 232.......Wait for my Mini 500 Helicopter Ultra Light Helicopter, it would be the Biggest RC Helicopter in the World, I am just looking for a Huge Servo to drive it, May be a SPECTRUM DX7 can do the job......Just type MINI 500 Helicopter in Search.
Erwin, we can convert your Ultra Light Plane to RC. just need a Big Servo and Spectrum DX7.
ellion nobody is impressed.i myself is pissed on that outcome on the glitch .if i idled the engine earlier and higher it would hav been a goner. oh and u better upload the other flight videos since this the crappiest flight i ever did i believe. thanks
osteopenia ya its alright, i just replaced the the carbon prop and it flew again the nxt day after cg corrections and remounting of the ignition box. thanks for the concern :)
Sorry 4 that folks! My fault!that was d maiden flight of that bird. After a long investigation it was found out that when i pulled back to idle,d heavy vibration caused my ignition box to shake loose n came in contact with its metal eyebolt hold-down which caused d interference which causd all d servos including throttle 2go berserk on short final. wasnt able to see d loose mounting.Has been correctd already n i hav logged bout 25+ flights on it already.Again, sorry for the crap 232 landing
daidyel, yup i do hav more vids.pls request them from ellioncham. maybe he hates me thats why he only uploaded my crappiest maiden flight. i also have an on-board flight video inside the cap232. wana see it?
I dont know the release of Horizons' Su-26 but from experience waiting for H9 stuff, is to expect them putting back the release date a lil bit since they seem to do that with their other planes, I have the DA-85 and this Sukhoi is going to be super lite with that motor im sure of it. I asked cousins today, they said you guys are about 3 hours drive from novaliches where i will be.
tisoy: we fly at an ultralight airfield in magalang pampanga. there are only a couple of us that fly there as it is a private airfield but you are welcome to join us.
we fly at angeles flying club in magalang pampanga, there are only a couple of us that fly there as it is a private airfield. you are welcome to fly with us. where will your 35% be coming from?
I will be coming from california, will stay in metro manila area for about one week, before heading down to Bohol, to visit family, i am very surprised theres giant scale in pinas, so i would be happy to share some 3D excitement there with other in giant scale. and then after we can do Tanduay and San Mig. :)
im not so sure how you could bring in a built 75cc bird through customs down here, perhaps if you know some people you can get it through. i imagine its going to be a huge crate. i also have an 85cc bird on the way and have a zdz80b2 waiting for a mate, its gonna be the h9 su26mm from horizon.
yeah thats the one im waiting for, the yak is larger, but i can remove the tail feathers and part the wings, its just the fuselage that will be what i will have to deal with, the su-26 fuse could probably fit in the same box with the yak's fuse.
giant scale has been around here for some time but its only been picking up recently. there are only a handful that have the big planes as cost makes it prohibitive.
The thing is, i see guys bringing huge sail surfboards, and other large items, to check in, i figure, as long as its completely defueld and i can source the liquids like fuel oil and fuel over there then it can work. what do you think?
i guess you're right about checking the plane in as long as it is completely defueled. fuel and oil is no problem down here. i personally use klotz, others use mobile1 and castrol synthetic.
I dont know the release of Horizons' Su-26 but from experience waiting for H9 stuff, is to expect them putting back the release date a lil bit since they seem to do that with their other planes, I have the DA-85 and this Sukhoi is going to be super lite with that motor im sure of it. I asked cousins today, they said you guys are about 3 hours drive from novaliches where i will be.
yup, that seems to be characteristic from horizon. even just to get the spektrum stuff from them is a pain for both asia and europe. i was thinking of sending the zdz80b2 to the states and sell it there to get a da85 for the sukhoi. i dont think novaliches would be 3 hours, maybe 2 hours at the most. i stay at commonwealth in quezon city and it takes me 1 hour and 15mins to get to the field.
I'll start trying to contact you guys around early 08 january february, will be in novaliches to see family, then of course some manila night life too, visit you guys and get some flights in, then bohol. its all planned out man it will be fun.
Oh yeah you bet! caps are most notorious of all aerobatic planes.and yes it does snap with no warning.its like it has a mind of its own,he will just quit flying! its actually from the high placement of its hor stab.
minipilot -the cap is a true testament that airplanes can stall at any altitude, airspeed and at any attitude. the cap is one bad ass airplane....but i love its looks and the way it snaps..very violent.agree??:) so what the heck. lets just do our best to try to tame the caps.
yup I have done airbus sims:) ya ur right,it was expensive. the guy i bought it from spent more than 1 grand on the carden aircraft kit,1.5 grand on assemby fee,1.5 grand on the 3w 100cc engine,500 dollars on engine accessories,500 dollars on additional hardware and covering,$200 on the smoke system,$200+ for the registered breitling sticker,500 dollars on shipping and oh ya,about 200 dollars worth of glue and epoxy :)
i agree ,,instead of using your life savings and risking your life,,get a simulator,,check my sim vids it really helps ,im certain that plane got folded up long ago unless you put it in storage immediately.and then you had then mud chickens all up under you causing distractions i was waiting for a crash the whole time,i bet you had your cousin place 5 stars...
Well if you keep flying this one like this, it WILL. Just a recommendation. Sims give you practice. YOU NEED IT. Just remember, that's about 5K you're putting in the air.
2fast thanks for the advice.i have logged more than 30 flights on the cap already.that crappy landing was just a result of interference from loose metal to metal contact. anyway it was fixed already. actually i just won first place in aerobatics last dec8 with the same plane....and its still intact:) thanks
That's good. I just don't wanna see this gem go in the ground. Ease off the throttle, as well. It's not a pylon racer. You WILL rip the wings off.....
2fast4u - roger that.i intenionally stayed on a narrow engine throttle setting since its my maiden flight and also the engine almost quit twice especially on the snaproll so i decided to stay engine-happy position since its common knowledge, the cap is a lousy glider.thanks for the concern:)
hey, to the guys who post about being crappy pilots! Your comments sounds like you guys are total beginners and has just flown backyard nitros! You never even know a 26cc unleaded gas engine is much heavier than a your beginnner Nitro engines! The builder and pilot in this video has already built a real plane and you guys comment as if you know about aeronautics????
you think it's PROLLY 90cc or 120cc? HAHA! You faggots, my friend this plane on the video and uses a 26cc unleaded gasscutter engine! you guys are dumbass! and you think we Filipinos are foolish enough like you guys???? Think again!

davidyel - nope i dont know that guy personally who did some reply. maybe he knows me from the airshow circuit since hes aware that i build planes. im assembling a full size skybolt aerobatic bipe at the moment. where are u from davidyel? are u an rc modeller as well?
zxrnl2004 i have flown larger planes than this. u may see how i really land and how i toy with planes... ultralight vs bike race, ultralight doing 6 foot limbo. my crap 232 landing sucked sorry bout that. hope i cud make u happy with my other videos:)
Shudn't fly a Stallion like this unless U've got the skill to land - U were LUCKY U got him down in one piece, so don't pat Urself on Ur back. Landing is about conserving energy and balancing it as you descend on Finals then touching down allowing it to slowly bleed off - You cant Force the plane down the way U did - Hope U've improved since. If not, go Fly a Kite and keep the CAP in a showcase.
leadsolo- nope,i dont breed hangar queens.i bought them to fly em. yup i agree the landing was shitty and i almost lost it wen the servos went berserk.vry obvious i didnt hav controls.good thing it was close to the ground already. if u noticed also, wen the engine stopped, all controls resumed function.u think id have the nerves to put this bazzilion peso plane in the air if didnt know how to land?hehe :) thanks for ur comment leadsolo :)
That U flying the plane ? Hmmm, how schweet - anyway, as for the justification on landing, guess Uv put e blame square on the tool, not the carpenter (Though a good carpenter never blames his tools) - Mb U've had better days, but iv heard my fair share of excuses and know a problem when i see (not hear) one ... also know cutesy guys wif gazzilion peso turbine jets who can't fly yet, n dunno knee from elbow - Happy Flights anyway !! :3)
yea i thought so too,and it looks really fun too,i was planing on getting an electric though.not sure what better 3 channel or 4 chanel..something affordable that can do some stunts...i wanna spend atleast 100...
i def recoment electric... finding something that is a good first plane and can do some stunts is hard... i recomend a super cub as a great plane to learn on(easy to fly and very durable). but that cant do many tricks and is very slow. the easystar can do more tricks and is faster, but it is a little harder to fly and more expensive. send me a mesage if you have any more questions, i have allote of experience flying and know allot of great web sites that can point you in the right direction.

Maybe a servo saver and a downer exponential would have helped you to land safely... You can mester it with a program function on your nice radio :)

planes stall from lack of lift. either lighten the plane, or dual server flaperons, flaps go down when you pull back, mine never snaps when i use it.

you mean that flaperons are ideal for occasionally preventing stalls?if yes, this function will become handy for me.

pointless-I AM THE FLIER.Me?smoothness?sorry dude,i dont even pass straight and level on aerobatic planes. If u want smoothness, just fly f3a pattern.I dont fly to please audiences nor cameras.i fly for myself and i fly the way it would make me happy.that means il abuse and stress my plane as they are designed to be.Aerobats should be able to withstand + - 10gs.if they fold up,theyre not worthy to be called aerobatic planes. do u think i spent on this one to please other people?i fly for myself

dios, pero como puedes volar un cap, teniendo tan poca experiencia :S.. eso es lo que demuestras viendo este video... yo que me pensaba que iva a ser algo interesante :S:S... yo flipo con la gente que tiene tanta pasta... ai....
PUPISHOPER 4 years ago
this video was taken a while back, i fly with this guy all the time. as far as i know during that time, it was only the carbon prop that broke. it was a rough landing but not enough to tear the plane apart.
rolfking 4 years ago
So, what was the damage to this plane? It looks to me like the left landing gear hit hard, which twisted the entire front-end of the plane clockwise relative to the rest of the fuselage behind the landing gear. I doubt that's repairable.
DrSandmann 4 years ago
drsandman yup the left gear got bent.bent it back, changed the prop and it flew the nxt day. thanks for the concern sandman

Erwin, we can convert your Ultra Light Plane to RC. just need a Big Servo and Spectrum DX7.
ellioncham 4 years ago
ellion nobody is impressed.i myself is pissed on that outcome on the glitch .if i idled the engine earlier and higher it would hav been a goner. oh and u better upload the other flight videos since this the crappiest flight i ever did i believe. thanks
erwindematera 4 years ago
is it alright?? nice plane..
osteopenia 4 years ago
osteopenia ya its alright, i just replaced the the carbon prop and it flew again the nxt day after cg corrections and remounting of the ignition box. thanks for the concern :)
erwindematera 4 years ago
Wow you suck at landing!
Mav1843 4 years ago
Sorry 4 that folks! My fault!that was d maiden flight of that bird. After a long investigation it was found out that when i pulled back to idle,d heavy vibration caused my ignition box to shake loose n came in contact with its metal eyebolt hold-down which caused d interference which causd all d servos including throttle 2go berserk on short final. wasnt able to see d loose mounting.Has been correctd already n i hav logged bout 25+ flights on it already.Again, sorry for the crap 232 landing
erwindematera 4 years ago
yup my landing sucked alright hehe.first flight plus vibration equals interference equals an almost lomcevac to the ground
erwindematera 4 years ago
hmm..
Do you have more vids of your flights? :P
davidyel 4 years ago
daidyel, yup i do hav more vids.pls request them from ellioncham. maybe he hates me thats why he only uploaded my crappiest maiden flight. i also have an on-board flight video inside the cap232. wana see it?

I dont know the release of Horizons' Su-26 but from experience waiting for H9 stuff, is to expect them putting back the release date a lil bit since they seem to do that with their other planes, I have the DA-85 and this Sukhoi is going to be super lite with that motor im sure of it. I asked cousins today, they said you guys are about 3 hours drive from novaliches where i will be.

tisoy: we fly at an ultralight airfield in magalang pampanga. there are only a couple of us that fly there as it is a private airfield but you are welcome to join us.

Hey where do you guys fly in Pinas, im going in February, ill bring my 35% Yak.

we fly at angeles flying club in magalang pampanga, there are only a couple of us that fly there as it is a private airfield. you are welcome to fly with us. where will your 35% be coming from?
rkingt1 4 years ago
I will be coming from california, will stay in metro manila area for about one week, before heading down to Bohol, to visit family, i am very surprised theres giant scale in pinas, so i would be happy to share some 3D excitement there with other in giant scale. and then after we can do Tanduay and San Mig. :)
tisoy909 4 years ago
Its an Aeroworks 75cc Yak and tryng to figure out how i can stuff su-26in a smaller crate, without making problems with the tsa at the airport
tisoy909 4 years ago
im not so sure how you could bring in a built 75cc bird through customs down here, perhaps if you know some people you can get it through. i imagine its going to be a huge crate. i also have an 85cc bird on the way and have a zdz80b2 waiting for a mate, its gonna be the h9 su26mm from horizon.
how big is your su26?
rolfking 4 years ago
yeah thats the one im waiting for, the yak is larger, but i can remove the tail feathers and part the wings, its just the fuselage that will be what i will have to deal with, the su-26 fuse could probably fit in the same box with the yak's fuse.
tisoy909 4 years ago
giant scale has been around here for some time but its only been picking up recently. there are only a handful that have the big planes as cost makes it prohibitive.
rolfking 4 years ago
The thing is, i see guys bringing huge sail surfboards, and other large items, to check in, i figure, as long as its completely defueld and i can source the liquids like fuel oil and fuel over there then it can work. what do you think?
tisoy909 4 years ago
i guess you're right about checking the plane in as long as it is completely defueled. fuel and oil is no problem down here. i personally use klotz, others use mobile1 and castrol synthetic.
rolfking 4 years ago

tisoy909 4 years ago
yup, that seems to be characteristic from horizon. even just to get the spektrum stuff from them is a pain for both asia and europe. i was thinking of sending the zdz80b2 to the states and sell it there to get a da85 for the sukhoi. i dont think novaliches would be 3 hours, maybe 2 hours at the most. i stay at commonwealth in quezon city and it takes me 1 hour and 15mins to get to the field.
rolfking 4 years ago
Hey! we will be waiting for u ok. c ya soon

I'll start trying to contact you guys around early 08 january february, will be in novaliches to see family, then of course some manila night life too, visit you guys and get some flights in, then bohol. its all planned out man it will be fun.

I have a smaller CAP 232 and it is as unstable as shit. It litteraly falls out of the skies when I turn it. I'd hate to see that beaty crash.
minipilot13 4 years ago
Oh yeah you bet! caps are most notorious of all aerobatic planes.and yes it does snap with no warning.its like it has a mind of its own,he will just quit flying! its actually from the high placement of its hor stab.
erwindematera 4 years ago
minipilot -the cap is a true testament that airplanes can stall at any altitude, airspeed and at any attitude. the cap is one bad ass airplane....but i love its looks and the way it snaps..very violent.agree??:) so what the heck. lets just do our best to try to tame the caps.
erwindematera 4 years ago
Lol... You better get an instructor or train on simulator.
That plane looks pretty expensive.
Wouldn't it be too bad crash it?
I wouldn't take the risk :>, Although I have once already ;) - The result was even worser than yours.
davidyel 4 years ago
yup I have done airbus sims:) ya ur right,it was expensive. the guy i bought it from spent more than 1 grand on the carden aircraft kit,1.5 grand on assemby fee,1.5 grand on the 3w 100cc engine,500 dollars on engine accessories,500 dollars on additional hardware and covering,$200 on the smoke system,$200+ for the registered breitling sticker,500 dollars on shipping and oh ya,about 200 dollars worth of glue and epoxy :)
erwindematera 4 years ago
While I do not think he's a dumbass, I do think he needs practice before he drills this one in the ground. So a simulator is HIGHLY recommended.
2Fast4U0921 4 years ago
yup theyre right, the landing was dub:)
itb was the best landing i could do with all the servos going in six different directions:)

airborneSGT 4 years ago
ya id love to see it, where can i find it?
erwindematera 4 years ago
i agree ,,instead of using your life savings and risking your life,,get a simulator,,check my sim vids it really helps ,im certain that plane got folded up long ago unless you put it in storage immediately.and then you had then mud chickens all up under you causing distractions i was waiting for a crash the whole time,i bet you had your cousin place 5 stars...
norm53 4 years ago 2
nah it aint my life savings yet:) i still got 42rc planes,2 ultralights,1 amphibian,1 full size rutan quickie in my garage:)
no thrill on sims, they dont explode into a million pcs when thy crash.:)
erwindematera 4 years ago
Well if you keep flying this one like this, it WILL. Just a recommendation. Sims give you practice. YOU NEED IT. Just remember, that's about 5K you're putting in the air.
2Fast4U0921 4 years ago
2fast thanks for the advice.i have logged more than 30 flights on the cap already.that crappy landing was just a result of interference from loose metal to metal contact. anyway it was fixed already. actually i just won first place in aerobatics last dec8 with the same plane....and its still intact:) thanks
erwindematera 4 years ago
That's good. I just don't wanna see this gem go in the ground. Ease off the throttle, as well. It's not a pylon racer. You WILL rip the wings off.....
2Fast4U0921 4 years ago
2fast4u - roger that.i intenionally stayed on a narrow engine throttle setting since its my maiden flight and also the engine almost quit twice especially on the snaproll so i decided to stay engine-happy position since its common knowledge, the cap is a lousy glider.thanks for the concern:)
erwindematera 4 years ago
hey, to the guys who post about being crappy pilots! Your comments sounds like you guys are total beginners and has just flown backyard nitros! You never even know a 26cc unleaded gas engine is much heavier than a your beginnner Nitro engines! The builder and pilot in this video has already built a real plane and you guys comment as if you know about aeronautics????
You guys are funny! dumbass my ass!

davidyel - nope i dont know that guy personally who did some reply. maybe he knows me from the airshow circuit since hes aware that i build planes. im assembling a full size skybolt aerobatic bipe at the moment. where are u from davidyel? are u an rc modeller as well?

ATM. I don't because of lack of money.. :\
I'm almost 16 years old and it's not that easy to earn money...

zxrnl2004 i have flown larger planes than this. u may see how i really land and how i toy with planes... ultralight vs bike race, ultralight doing 6 foot limbo. my crap 232 landing sucked sorry bout that. hope i cud make u happy with my other videos:)

leadsolo 4 years ago
Shudn't fly a Stallion like this unless U've got the skill to land - U were LUCKY U got him down in one piece, so don't pat Urself on Ur back. Landing is about conserving energy and balancing it as you descend on Finals then touching down allowing it to slowly bleed off - You cant Force the plane down the way U did - Hope U've improved since. If not, go Fly a Kite and keep the CAP in a showcase.
leadsolo 4 years ago
He prolly don't know about half of what u saying.. ;) I agree.
davidyel 4 years ago
leadsolo- nope,i dont breed hangar queens.i bought them to fly em. yup i agree the landing was shitty and i almost lost it wen the servos went berserk.vry obvious i didnt hav controls.good thing it was close to the ground already. if u noticed also, wen the engine stopped, all controls resumed function.u think id have the nerves to put this bazzilion peso plane in the air if didnt know how to land?hehe :) thanks for ur comment leadsolo :)
erwindematera 4 years ago
That U flying the plane ? Hmmm, how schweet - anyway, as for the justification on landing, guess Uv put e blame square on the tool, not the carpenter (Though a good carpenter never blames his tools) - Mb U've had better days, but iv heard my fair share of excuses and know a problem when i see (not hear) one ... also know cutesy guys wif gazzilion peso turbine jets who can't fly yet, n dunno knee from elbow - Happy Flights anyway !! :3)

Crappy pilot plus nose-heavy pilot plus crappy servos equals the landing you got in the end.

planes... by far
timbocar 4 years ago
yea i thought so too,and it looks really fun too,i was planing on getting an electric though.not sure what better 3 channel or 4 chanel..something affordable that can do some stunts...i wanna spend atleast 100...
red19841984 4 years ago
i def recoment electric... finding something that is a good first plane and can do some stunts is hard... i recomend a super cub as a great plane to learn on(easy to fly and very durable). but that cant do many tricks and is very slow. the easystar can do more tricks and is faster, but it is a little harder to fly and more expensive. send me a mesage if you have any more questions, i have allote of experience flying and know allot of great web sites that can point you in the right direction.
