@Graffmas im pretty sure u use it to figure out where to put your speakers for surround sound .
like u put the mic where u will normally be sitting (on the couch) or whereever and it sets up the speaker volume or somthing so that it actually sounds like surround and not like everything is happening infront of u or somthing. (<-- this might not be right but thats what im pretty sure it does)
