  • every time you play i wanna get high with you

  • i love you david, muahhh! :P (i am man not woman)

  • can you help me PLEASE, i love that kinda licks but i got problems with picking it, it makes me wanna put my guitar away and never play on it again, it's really demotivating so if you got any advice.. it's more than welcome

  • See you in the next lesson, ROCK ON!!

  • If you could just stop talking so much that would be great thanks :)

  • Are there any videos for icreasing your speed for trills? I can't move my fingers fast enough to trill well let alone do these licks fast.

  • David, you are an incredible guitar teacher. I absoluteley love what you're doing, you're helping so many people it's amazing. You are a very talented guitar teacher. This is deffinately you're calling. Thank you so much!

  • @iPlayLoudest - thank you so much - really appreciate your kind words and so glad that you like our lessons and that we can help you with your playing - keep up all that hard work on that guitar and keep on rocking!

  • Just a tip, your trusrod cover is the wrong way mounted :-)

  • я уснул на 52 секунде

  • Lick 3 was no doubt Adrian Smith-ish. Think of the number of the beast solo while watching him play it

  • David T s videos are really helpfull,thank you

  • that right very jimmy page very clear on the communcation breakdown solo

  • 2:02-2:09 is like hes staring into your soul

  • lol, every time he's about to show you somthing it gets cut off

  • what guitar is this

  • what song is the firstd riff

  • it sucks that the guitars gibson makes in this color nowadays aren't of the highest quality...

  • hey dave you make the best lessons i just started playing in april and without your lessons i would not have progressed nearly as much as i have with them

so thank you very much, and keep up the great work

  • whats up with the backwards thrusrod cover?

  • david...your and awsome guitarist and teacher! and you have the most beautiful guitars!

  • oh, by the way - Dave, I'm a beginner and every time I bend up, I hit some lower, unwanted string at the same time - any solutions?

  • You need to employ string muting to mute out all the noise and pops. Basically you need to mute out every note that you ARE NOT playing. I have a two handed string muting technique that I teach on my website - there is a three day free pass on the home page so you can access the lessons - the string muting lesson is in the master classes intermediate lead section - check them out at next level guitar dotcom

    rock oN!

    David T

  • @rockongoodpeople dude that is a one great lesson right there!..

    it helps me a lot....

btw could u make a video on

"on how to control the excessive emotion that was being released when playing guitar so that you wouldn't spend too much buying a new set of strings every week because you strum so hard that it's impossible to not to snap those DAMN! strings on your guitar" lesson?

    thanks!

  • @rollinstonesdontsuck In addition to what he said, its practice. I had the same issue and over time it went away

  • ive been following nextlevelguitar for years. i used to be a fan of their bebo page =P.

  • That lick that he did at 3:46 to 4:26 was something Angus young used a hell of a lot in his crowd pleasing solos lol

  • You rock

    David T

  • @rockongoodpeople ure guitar is GOD

  • @smokagrass there is a gibson les paul studio with the same finish

    not the same inlays however

  • My only problem with all your vids is I tend to steal all your tricks. LOL I enjoy the hell out of em.

  • your face is priceless when you play

  • Thanks! NICE GUITAR!!

  • hey Dave i was just wondering, how long did it take you to develop your skills in playing solos because i think playing solos is the one of the hardest things when playing electric guitar.

Also i was wondering if you had an opinion of the Gibson Studio series.

  • I have a question that I know you can answer David. I play guitar. I'm not amazing but I can play some rock stuff. Nothing too skilled just like power chords and a little acoustic stuff. I've gotten this far by watching videos and tabs. I have no clue on how to read music. I have no knowledge when it comes to scales and all that. Where do I start? I just wanna make guitar easier like being able to read music and knowing how to create some licks

  • @itsallgood239 yeah i feel ya. dont know any scales or annything but i do kinda know how to read music. hey, David, what scales ARE vital to all this guitar stuff and what is a good way to learn them all?

  • wat amp/effects r u using?

  • Hi - for this video I play through the les paul straight into a fender hot rod deville all tube 2x12 amp with just a splash of reverb - no other effects - thats it

    rock on!

    David T

  • Nice les paul Dave

    is it a deluxe?

  • the guitar I use in this video is a 1996 gibson les paul standard limited edition

    rock on!

    David T

  • @rockongoodpeople Les Pauls are good lookin guitars...but why do they put a brick in the body?

  • david's and marty's videos are the best :D

  • David's videos are so good I watch them even when I already know the subject matter. Thanks for the vid.

  • The thing on the headstock is upsidown

  • hey thanks for the vid. It's really helpful =) , you guys are the best!

  • This is a really really great lesson, but i was wondering if you could do a lesson on metal guitar i mean like underoath, oh sleeper, impending doom bands such as that thanks

  • I got a guitar/bass teach with the name Taub

    that a sweat lick!

  • yay!! congrats on reaching 555 videos

  • yeah alt picking is the best way to add dexterity in your picking hand and add speed...its more than double if you add alt picking on more than 1 string, for good examples watch john petrucci.

  • your truss rod cover is upsidedown?

  • @SixStringSolid

    I just noticed that too!

  • is your model lable on the neck backwards... my gibson has them reversed from the way yours are... by the way i love the fret markers on yours!!!

  • Hey David, you're one of the best instructors out there, awesome tutorials and lessons.

You released a D slow blues backing track, which I've used and is awesome, but theres just some things I don't fully understand of theory while soloing.

    Isn't this in D major?

If so, why does D minor pentatonic work over it so well

Does it matter major/minor which pentatonic to use?

And I'm still a little iffy of chord progressions

Are they the chords formed from 4th and 5th notes?

    Please help, and thanks!

  • Hey David, I've been a fan for a long time and I was wondering if you could help me by maybe making a lesson on some intermediate song writing ideas. I find it sometimes is hard to get out of simple diatonic songs to making the jump to more complicated songs. Thanks and Rock On!

  • It's a good think he made this video yesterday or else the link will be in the wrong place. Lol

  • check out my channel pls... :) and no bim not trying to get you to view some slutcam action, nor trying to get you to buy anything..just want opinions...:) user name jtlagyt0l

  • @jtlagyt0l Oh thats a shame ! i was hoping it was some old dirty women !!

  • BUTTSCRATCHA

  • fucking beautiful finish on that LP

  • yay youre back!!

johnny bravo's lessons were boring =P

  • @nosebleedbc lol

  • @harro098765 lol i know this guy rocks and so does two fist magee!

but johnny bravo's lessons are boring and gay pink panther riffs just don't match with me =/

  • @nosebleedbc lol yeah he really does. but what ever happened to marty?

  • @harro098765 not a clue :P, don't even know who he is lol

i subbed rockongoodpeople when two fist magee was teaching..

    cya bro

  • do you really need to pick up and down? i gotta problem with that bcuz i use to pick downward for a very long time so i have a very big problem in adjusting

  • @lcddg

Just practice alot! Alternate picking is the key to speed and will help you alot with about everything you play at guitar.

  • Hi - I think alternate picking will take you the furthest the fastest. It will take some time to get proficient at if you have been straight downpicking in the past. Check some of my other lessons here on my youtube channel at RockOnGoodPeople for finger exercises and how to improve your picking - best of luck

    -David T

  • @lcddg yeah you'll have problems if you don't learn a more advanced picking style that'll be what takes you from beginner to intermediate because alt picking just sounds better in most cases

  • @lcddg yeah, i mean, its tough to get used to, but once you get it its WAYYYY easier, believe me, it really is worth it

  • @lcddg Yes. It is a great investment. I learned alternate picking in 1986 and it took a few months to get good at. For the last 20+ years I haven't given it a single thought I just naturally pick in both directions.

It helps to single out techniques to practice. While watching TV just pick up and down. Change strings every once in a while. Try to pick with minimal effort and volume using just the point of the pick.

  • good idea would be putting tabs in videos

  • Thats a beauty of a Les Paul!

  • @leetbh

  • Hey, isn't that second lick in the beginning of the first solo from Mr. Crowley by Ozzy Osbourne?

  • i really just enjoy watching him play. he should do some videos of just him soloing over a jam track, that would be great.

  • did they copy this idea of "the lick of the week" from theodore ziras???

  • best. lesson. ever. lol

  • that les paul is really cool

  • @leetbh nah,Two Fist McGee is better :)

  • That was very helpful

  • the 3rd lick is in fight the good fight solo by truimph. great lessons dave and all you guys at nlg.com. rock on

  • 2:29-30 note and 2:37 reminds me of ''knocking on heavens door'' with dire straits

  • David is a cool guy!

  • wow hahaha I love the face between 1:11-1:18 hahaha!! good video tho

  • That Les Paul is to die for, those fret markers are lush, I'm sure I'm not the only person who loves guitar porn.

  • That guitar is so beautiful!

  • 555 videos =)

  • it would be even more helpfull if you showed how to mute the strings on these begginer lessons...great lick anyways=)

  • Hi - thanks for the kind words - we do have a lesson on string muting - check our other lessons on our channel here at RockOnGoodPeople

  • good

  • thanks master :)

  • Yes! 4th commenter :)

  • @P2GearsOfWar ya and the first idiot.....congrats

  • @halohater9

    wow you're funny. Fucking dick.

  • meh I'm so tired of these beginner lessons .

  • @ragrytakr Then don't watch em.

  • @ragrytakr Don't watch them, Hendrix...

  • @ragrytakr I'M TIRED OF YOUR MOM!

  • @ragrytakr Then dont watch them

  • @ragrytakr seriously hhahahaa if u don't know how to do a pentatonic scale, I don't even know why u own a guitar

  • @6stringsandaneck

What are you even talking about ?

I never said i didn't know the pentatonic scale.

A person taht doesn't know the pentatonic scale shouldn't own a guitar ?

Damn , I'm glad you'r most likely the only person that thinks this way.

So you say Hendrix didn't deserve to own a guitar ?

And neither did Slash , not only didn't he know the pentatonics , he didn't want to learn them.

What terrible guitarists they are, you should tottaly burn their guitars , they don't deserve them.

  • @ragrytakr wait what? dude i'm on ur side hahaha i was agreeing wioth what u said... all of those guitarists knew those anyway. I was saying that he's teaching a basic pentatonic scale... the simplest scale of any i've ever heard... it's bluesy but boring after a while if it isn't changed up. It's so basic that if anyone owns a guitar and doesn't learn it within a very short period of time, they have no business playing whatsoever... i was not saying anything against u

  • @6stringsandaneck

    Oh :D

Guess i misunderstood your first comment then.

Still though, If you don't take any lessons , it's really unlikely that you'll learn the scales by yourself.

Hell , I didn't even know they existed back when i was strarting.

They sure USED the pentatonics , but yeah.

Slash uses those scales , but he's not hinking of them like scales , so he can't name them either.

  • @ragrytakr Unless of course you're Marty freidman...... Who made up his own scales by trial and error.
