David, you are an incredible guitar teacher. I absoluteley love what you're doing, you're helping so many people it's amazing. You are a very talented guitar teacher. This is deffinately you're calling. Thank you so much!
@iPlayLoudest - thank you so much - really appreciate your kind words and so glad that you like our lessons and that we can help you with your playing - keep up all that hard work on that guitar and keep on rocking!
hey dave you make the best lessons i just started playing in april and without your lessons i would not have progressed nearly as much as i have with them
so thank you very much, and keep up the great work
You need to employ string muting to mute out all the noise and pops. Basically you need to mute out every note that you ARE NOT playing. I have a two handed string muting technique that I teach on my website - there is a three day free pass on the home page so you can access the lessons - the string muting lesson is in the master classes intermediate lead section - check them out at next level guitar dotcom
"on how to control the excessive emotion that was being released when playing guitar so that you wouldn't spend too much buying a new set of strings every week because you strum so hard that it's impossible to not to snap those DAMN! strings on your guitar" lesson?
hey david.. how u doing man.. your videos are really good u know.. i've been watching them for months and the explanations r very clear.. i would like to know wich gibson were u using in this video because i really liked the color hehe
hey david, nick from fla..a to z was great and all these utube lessons are really awsome..the blues and acoustic dvds are fun and i really got to a fun point..havin a blast,,thanks 4 all..always lookin forward to new kool stuff.....peace
Ni Nick - thanks so much for the kind words - most appreciated. So glad that you like our DVDs and lessons. Keep up all the hard work and keep on rockinG!
hey Dave i was just wondering, how long did it take you to develop your skills in playing solos because i think playing solos is the one of the hardest things when playing electric guitar.
Also i was wondering if you had an opinion of the Gibson Studio series.
I have a question that I know you can answer David. I play guitar. I'm not amazing but I can play some rock stuff. Nothing too skilled just like power chords and a little acoustic stuff. I've gotten this far by watching videos and tabs. I have no clue on how to read music. I have no knowledge when it comes to scales and all that. Where do I start? I just wanna make guitar easier like being able to read music and knowing how to create some licks
@itsallgood239 yeah i feel ya. dont know any scales or annything but i do kinda know how to read music. hey, David, what scales ARE vital to all this guitar stuff and what is a good way to learn them all?
Hi - for this video I play through the les paul straight into a fender hot rod deville all tube 2x12 amp with just a splash of reverb - no other effects - thats it
This is a really really great lesson, but i was wondering if you could do a lesson on metal guitar i mean like underoath, oh sleeper, impending doom bands such as that thanks
yeah alt picking is the best way to add dexterity in your picking hand and add speed...its more than double if you add alt picking on more than 1 string, for good examples watch john petrucci.
Hey David, you're one of the best instructors out there, awesome tutorials and lessons.
You released a D slow blues backing track, which I've used and is awesome, but theres just some things I don't fully understand of theory while soloing.
Isn't this in D major?
If so, why does D minor pentatonic work over it so well
Does it matter major/minor which pentatonic to use?
And I'm still a little iffy of chord progressions
Are they the chords formed from 4th and 5th notes?
Hey David, I've been a fan for a long time and I was wondering if you could help me by maybe making a lesson on some intermediate song writing ideas. I find it sometimes is hard to get out of simple diatonic songs to making the jump to more complicated songs. Thanks and Rock On!
check out my channel pls... :) and no bim not trying to get you to view some slutcam action, nor trying to get you to buy anything..just want opinions...:) user name jtlagyt0l
do you really need to pick up and down? i gotta problem with that bcuz i use to pick downward for a very long time so i have a very big problem in adjusting
Hi - I think alternate picking will take you the furthest the fastest. It will take some time to get proficient at if you have been straight downpicking in the past. Check some of my other lessons here on my youtube channel at RockOnGoodPeople for finger exercises and how to improve your picking - best of luck
@lcddg yeah you'll have problems if you don't learn a more advanced picking style that'll be what takes you from beginner to intermediate because alt picking just sounds better in most cases
@lcddg Yes. It is a great investment. I learned alternate picking in 1986 and it took a few months to get good at. For the last 20+ years I haven't given it a single thought I just naturally pick in both directions.
It helps to single out techniques to practice. While watching TV just pick up and down. Change strings every once in a while. Try to pick with minimal effort and volume using just the point of the pick.
@ragrytakr wait what? dude i'm on ur side hahaha i was agreeing wioth what u said... all of those guitarists knew those anyway. I was saying that he's teaching a basic pentatonic scale... the simplest scale of any i've ever heard... it's bluesy but boring after a while if it isn't changed up. @6stringsandaneck
What are you even talking about ?
I never said i didn't know the pentatonic scale.
A person taht doesn't know the pentatonic scale shouldn't own a guitar ?
Damn , I'm glad you'r most likely the only person that thinks this way.
So you say Hendrix didn't deserve to own a guitar ?
And neither did Slash , not only didn't he know the pentatonics , he didn't want to learn them.
What terrible guitarists they are, you should tottaly burn their guitars , they don't deserve them.
ragrytakr 1 year ago
@ragrytakr wait what? dude i'm on ur side hahaha i was agreeing wioth what u said... all of those guitarists knew those anyway. I was saying that he's teaching a basic pentatonic scale... the simplest scale of any i've ever heard... it's bluesy but boring after a while if it isn't changed up. It's so basic that if anyone owns a guitar and doesn't learn it within a very short period of time, they have no business playing whatsoever... i was not saying anything against u
6stringsandaneck 1 year ago
@6stringsandaneck
Oh :D
Guess i misunderstood your first comment then.
Still though, If you don't take any lessons , it's really unlikely that you'll learn the scales by yourself.
Hell , I didn't even know they existed back when i was strarting.
They sure USED the pentatonics , but yeah.
Slash uses those scales , but he's not hinking of them like scales , so he can't name them either.

@ragrytakr Unless of course you're Marty freidman...... Who made up his own scales by trial and error.
