i think the VXR was stock but we never talked to him to ask. the civic had a decat, a system and a air intake. there was nothing more done to the car apart from the seats getting took out.

ok but what about the fact the corsa has a bigger engine and a turbo. it also makes alot more power that the civic at the flywheel. i would have said that by removing the extra weight for the civic would have been making the race more fair. because then the cars would have a more even power to weight.

i see what your trying to say. just the civic is about 1100kg not 900kg and thats taking into account the seats and that being out the car in this video. the only civic that comes close to that would be an ek9 and you would need to strip 190kg off a ek9 to get it to 900kg. the the weight of the car in not really a issue when you think the corsa and more power and turque that the civic that would more that make up for the little bit less weight the civic has.

@johnmiller1985 either way id put money on that civic being lighter than the corsa, so whether the corsa has more power or not, if the civic is lighter then its going to give it better power to weight ratio, plus in my opinion the civic is moddified with no back seats and whos to say it hasn't had anything else done to it? whereas the artic corsa has the remus exhaust on and thats about it.

your point is valid and one that there will be people on one side and the other. the only way to find out would be to rolling road both card and weight them as they are. as for mods on the civic it had decat and a system that's all it had. I was friends with the owner of this civic at the time and know what mods its had. in my eyes i think it was a good race. if the corsa had been a better driver it could have been even better.

i was shocked to see the outcome of this but can see why the corsa lost so badly. it is just too heavy i think its only got about 120bhp per tonne which is shite really. they would be rapid if someone decided to fully strip one out though

they have 150bhp per tonne with a remus exhaust and remap costing about £1500they will have about 180bhp-190bhp per tonne and the astra vxr has 175bhp per tonne standard

VXR R has a limited slip differential, if you put one of them in a standard VXR, it will become the same. You cant put big power through an open diff, it just wont work, no matter what the car is.

yeh i know that my VXR8 is a holden (something or other). but i don't care... if i can get enough money i am going to trade up to the bathhurst VXR8. that is a vauxhall tuned one ;-) oh and on the vauxhall VXR8 the engine gives 25bhp more than the aussie one and it handles better... jus some info... if only this guy was in ireland i could race him...lol :-)

it's not my car, it's my pals. as far as a know it's never been on the rollers. it was prob be about the165 bhp mark as a ruff guess

That sounds ok since its stripped out. A friend of mine has a Startlet GT (1.3 turbo) with light mods front mount intercooler, de-cat, full exhaust, manifold, uprated clutch but its all on stock boost which is 0.6 bar. He raced a Corsa VXR (the normal slightly less powerful one) twice and he beat it.

Ok let me put it to you this way

The Starlet weighs 860kg before AC was taken out. It has 154bhp and 138 ft lb of torque and its enough to beat Type-Rs which i admit was very surprised by. The Corsa weighs 1223kg and we raced it twice on long streches so we know it was a proper race.

Oh incase you didnt know the Starlet was not standard but standard has 133bhp and 118 ft lbs of torque which is enough to do 0-60mph in 6.9 secs.
