It is possibly overkill, but then so is Microsoft Office, with 95% of users using 5% of the features. In terms of value for money I cannot fault Tyros 4 - it's a must as a studio tool, although you will need other modules additionally.

It's overkill for home use but if you fancy it and have the cash, well why not?

After all, £250,000 worth of Aston Martin isn't necessary to drive from place to place but it's a thing to drive from place to place.

I once thought about buying such a keyboard, but with Native Instruments Komplete 7 bundle I got a lot of similar sounds. Don't get me wrong I love the Yamaha Tyros synths, but paying €4000 to get a keyboard is a tad bit overkill when all I need is the sounds that I bought for €400.

@Abrenuncia roland had it in the early 90's on the G-series and E-series too. The VA series allready had the Variphrase function which was way cooler! :D
