I always take them with a grain of salt and expect the car to make less on any other dyno, be it mustang, dynojet, dynamics, etc. Looking at the trap speeds (123-124mph) and weight (3600lbs) of the LF-A this engine is right on the money at 552 fly wheel hp.

@ZuuL1555 i was playing with a HP calculator on google , and if you put the time to it normally gets ( 11.8's @ what you said at 124mph and it's weight) , it makes 547.04 hp at the flywheel. but that changes if you get it to 11.7 then it gets the 552hp @ the flywheel.

Engine for engine the ZR1 will be less satisfying but more reliable and more efficient in terms of gas mileage. Oh, and it has torque. The LF-A is more of the same. But I love them all!
@krstnmark Not really, the LF-A is far more refined. The engine is a fantastic piece of engineering (despite what my previous post may lead you to think). The LF-A just isn't in the same league as the Corvette. But, quality trolling nonetheless.

@Frickitt Motor Trend's dyno run with the LFA was horrible for some reason. There is no way a V10 LFA will make only 283 ft/lb of torque at the wheels along with 430 HP. Lexus would never overrrate their car as it would hurt their reputation.
I wasn't ever a fan of the musicality of a v10 (like i could do with just the bass note and mid note but not the high note on top of that) but this car starting with 3600 rpm sounded just amazing!
i wish someone would twin turbo this damn thing so all the gtr people could shut up... of course a twin turboed v6 would beat a N/A v10 same reason my turboed 4banger smoke cobra's it's TURBOED.. love this damn car and the sound

@loserwing You doubt "a" twin turbo would fit in there? do you even know how forced induction works? you dont just mount the turbos, it takes alot of modifying on both the body and exhaust to turbocharge any naturally aspirated engine... try a search for Lamborghini Gallardo twin turbo... everything is possible :P and btw, 20hp each? maybe, if you run it on 0,2 bar...

@loserwing to add twin turbos to this car would kinda defeat the purpose of the engine all together. Lexus claim some pretty crazy stuff w/ this car that turbos would kinda get in the way. Like the fact that they say it revs from idle to red line in .6 seconds and 90 percent of the torque is available at 3,5k revs.Even though the internals are forged and are very strong but to boost an already 12:1 motor you would need race gas and nobody wants to buy a road car that needs 5 dollar a gallon gas.

The LFA is for posers with $. It sounds and looks great, but pair it up against anything else and it'll FAIL. They could've invested the money spent on sound development for more HP or adding AWD.

@Mimsk y does it have to be faster? its not all about being fast in a quarter mile. the LFA is an masterpiece from its shell to the technology involved. its only the 2 car to have been engineered to aeronautical standards, the engine being a V10 weighs less than a v6 yet it revs so fast an conventional needle wouldn't keep up. engine was sent to Yamaha to tune the acoustics of the engine. they took a decade to build it, Ferrari made 3 cars in between. it is pricey but lexus wont make profit.
So your telling me Lexus couldn't find a tach maker that could "keep up mechanically" with the LF-As motor yet the "old as dirt" Dynojet electronics had no problem grabbing rpm for the torque portion of the run. lol. I needed a laugh for the day.

let's do the math. the engine produce 552 hb, at the wheels= 514 bhp, percentage of power lost = only 7%... that is super amazing even on hypercar standard...
The V10 is smaller than most V8's and it revs much higher with Lexus reliability. In order to understand that kind of logic, go out and buy yourself a Timex watch and tell yourself that it can do all that a Rolex watch can do. People that do not like this car cannot understand why the Rolex costs so much more. I do not want to have a Timex even if I have to work overtime to afford a Rolex watch instead.

@slick88zx i'd say this test is more accurate since there is simply too much power loss in the motor trend dyno run. this however makes alot of sense.

The V10 is smaller than most V8's and it revs much higher with Lexus reliability. In order to understand that kind of logic, go out and buy yourself a Timex watch and tell yourself that it can do all that a Rolex watch can do. People that do not like this car cannot understand why the Rolex costs so much more. I do not want to have a Timex even if I have to work overtime to afford a Rolex watch instead.
