  • Missing happens to all hunters, just another step on your path to inovating your skills..

I had a 9 point try and duck my arrow last season but it did him no justice, I always aim a hair lower than my intended POA , that tri-prong mossy broadhead dropped my buck dead as a hammer! Try aiming slightly lower and see how it works it'll compensate for them ducking...

  • CRAZY

  • That thar is why he got to grow dem big ol' antlers.

On the bright side, he will have an even bigger rack next year.

  • This is why i am low on deer they usually bob down then run when they hear the arrow leave

  • thats bow hunting, patience is the greatest virtue. The grunt works another option is, a purssing of the lips like a bleat, is all without a tube , more mobility and not as starling, therefore he is not as tense and ready to dodge the arrow. Good yardage and shooting lane, it will come and great learning for those that are real hunters and not arm chair critics.

  • i didnt see any brush....just sayin

  • Jumped the string, jumped the string!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • did anyone else see that the deer has the arrow coming out of its antlers

  • u should of gave that tag to me and ill send u a pic of what he would of have look like.

  • u woulda hit him! the fucking thing dodged it!! watch the shot over and over again and u will see that when the deer goes to run it arched its back!

  • yea the17hmr can take down a deer in the head but i dont think its leagal for anystates its like a varmit gun

  • Them Big ol' bucks will do that. Looks like an ok shot, you just got worked over by a big buck my friend.

  • look on the bright side u still got a tag to eat lol

  • hunting humans you think you would have a chance commerceskate? Most people who hunt are pretty good at using weapons and tracking and stuff that comes in handy when hunting lol what are you gonna do skate him to death? pussy

  • i had a doe do the same thing to me yesterday but she jumped over it instead

  • Happens to the best of us!!!

  • man commerceskate stop bitching. just cause you prolly cant hunt worth shit

  • fuck hunting. too bad hunting humans is illegal at least that is a fair fight...pussys.

  • your a douche bag. dont just come on a video to trash talk about it..if you think its wrong leave it to yourself..dont piss everybody off you fuck

  • why cant u accept the killing onother thing is natural?

  • lol ill show u a fair fight....lol me and u...thts a fair fight i dont need guns...and even if i did it wouldnt be a fair fight lol u with a gun would be the funnyst thing...get a life.....

  • aimed way toooo high , nice deer , good luck on the next hunt

  • He jumped the string, happens more with slower fps.

  • Wow, trophy rack to!

    Berrter luck next time.

Have a look at me miss my deer!

  • its not his fault completely ..the buck had some moves...it happen to me couple of years back ..but my shot was a 35 yrds with a recurve ..just an inch high...but o well at least you got some good footage of the buck ...hope you got one later on the season

  • wow man sorry for that miss im 13 years old and at 30 yards i can shoot a arrow right into the head

  • Dont aim for the head

  • get a rifle

  • you pussy

  • finally a man who hunts like a real man with bow technology. i think gunpowder is the most copped, pussied way to kill anything.

  • Im shooting with archery too in Norway, and if there should be lack of food i would rather take my bow as an unexperienced hunter and try shoot a deer or something else than starve to death. Eat or get eaten. Its like the law of nature that have been for 1000's of years, even more than that, millions of years, its totally normal. Hunting with bow is illegal in Norway tho, so many hunters here travels to other countries to get some experience.

  • Bow Technology? Is that an oxymoron? The indians gave up this crap to get single shot blackpowder weapons. This guy got zero meat for the freezer this day. At least he didn't gut shoot it or just lob one through his ass. I think bow hunters are pussies and spear hunters are real men. Oh well it's dinnertime and I'm going to eat some moose burgers from last fall. You know, the one killed with one shot after it stumbled about ten yards.....

  • correct, dear natural reaction to unexpected sound like that is croching, wisconsin white tail are so over hunted that croch to the ground when they hear sound. that was just an inexperianced bow hunter.

  • WHOA! That buck DOES have moves

  • the bow was not the problem, aimed to hi. that is way u always aim low at close ditance because deer must crunch down to leap out of the way and arrow will catch them or just right, but it happens to all of us.

  • Dampeners dont help that close. Shit happens. Now a fifty yard shot ( which doesnt happen often in Texas, where this was filmed) dampeners do help.

  • I bet you that buck has had some experience with dodging in the past...... (-.-)

  • happends to the best of us! lol

  • lol

  • ahh damn man tht was a slob but nice hunt better luck next time

  • ohh that was a nice buck:))

    better luck next time

  • haha bad luck kid dw ive missed a moster buck to thats when i switched to dampeners that helped.

  • bad shot kid don't worry things will go your way.i have made a few shots like that butin the end i have prevailed.have a good one from rdb outdoors

  • No need for silencers here. Most bows nowadays are fast enough to stop the "string jump" at 20 yds. If that deer jumped his string then he needs to get a faster bow.

At 20 yds, the arrow out of a 315fps bow will reach the deer in .2 secs. There is no deer out there that has a reaction time that quick. Sure, the sound reaches him in like .001 seconds, but .2 secs is not enough time for the brain to interpret the sound and fire the muscles.

  • i would start to cry if i missed that moster buck!!! i think i have tears running down my cheek already lol

  • That my friends is why its called hunting and not killing. there will be misses and then there will be hits. but its the love of the sport that keeps us going back.

  • @Bersaggynuts I am still kiking my own ass, just this afternoon I mist one, enormous 10 pointer, got the wrong yardage.

  • @Bersaggynuts Very true you can't get every deer no one is perfect

  • worst shot i have ever seen hunting from the ground is easy terrible shot

  • if you notice it was dead on but the dear herd the twang of the bow and ducked (it would have hit the heart too) my sugestion is to get dampeners they help.

  • haha nice shooting chief :P no im kidding, dont worry about that, i swear to god those animals have a sixth sense. but i do remembe one time when i was trying out a new ghillie suit i made, and a spike buck came with 5 feet of walking over me. i couldnt help but to burst out laughing. But he will be able to outsmart me no problem in a few years.. haha hopefully not..great video my friend.

  • whut the deer did is called jumping the string ...next time shoot when it's not looking, u still had a nice shot without the grunt...

  • no need to grunt to stop this buck, yep he stopped but on full alert ready to run. He didn't duck it he just ran from the shot noise, in order to spring off he had to load up by dropping down. Next time just shoot. And yes I have missed just as badly plenty of times. Good luck.

  • EpluirbusUnum1

no u dont need to silence ur bow...that deer new he was there thats why u shoot low on the deer u shoot towards the heart area and it would have hit right in the center of the deer

  • The shot looked fine, these older bucks are not dumb, you need to silence your bow more so he can not react as quick. Get those cat wisker things, or these rubber ad-ons workd well.If it was a 30 yard shot it would have been no chance.

  • ik tht your on the ground and its hard but i hunt in tree stands its a lot easier because ur up 15 20 ft but goodluck this season im going out tomorrow!

  • you need to learn how to shot

  • At least I know how to spell!!!

  • you need to learn how to spell!! ""you need to learn how to shot ""...hahahaha

  • damn not trying to talk smack like everyone else but that was definitly a bad shot. a little bit too high. about 6 inches. bow hunters have to aim a little bit lower because deer hear our shot before the projectile hits them unlike gun hunting. I wouldn't call it unlucky as much as a slightly misplaced shot. If he didn't duck then it would have been a kill shot but still on the upper half of the lungs. Nice video though. awesome buck maybe next time.

  • Damn dude, maybe next time...

  • I dont even consider that a miss...that buck ducked that arrow plain and simple, props to him.

  • so unlucky! i got a big mulie 5 by 5 when i was 12 and i saw him 4 times before one day after school he was crossing a road..1 lung-1neck and a nother neck with a 245

  • big buck maybe next time.

  • WOAH FUCK YEAH!

  • i don't even believe my eyes...that was a good shot too.

  • thats a godly buck

  • o my god that was crazy

  • the fucker ducked it

  • It's not that the buck was lucky, you're just a poor shot.

  • They don't actually "duck" what's happening is, they are crouching(bending their legs down)to get ready to spring away. It's the flight part of "fight or flight". Same as what adrenaline does to you when you are startled.

  • It was a nice buck, wath kind a bow it was? and how many pounds, just curios. Tanks

  • unlucky, thats such a super buck

  • lOl hA hE hA!!!...

  • thats a big buck

  • WOW! THAT HAS TO SUCK!!

  • thats a bummer, that was a good buck. the guy below me is right, the shot looked a little high to start with. them bastards have a tendancy to jump the string and duck.

  • that shot was originally a little high though

  • It was the bow that made the noise soon as he herd that thunk noise.Or its a mature buck that its been shot at a copule times ide say 7year old buck.

  • lolll very lucky deer =D

  • He ducked that arrow so fast. Always shoot a little lower cuz deer usally duck when somethin is flyin at them.

  • unlucky dude

  • Good placement man, he just dumped on you... That is why those horns are that big. At least you have a video showing a great hunt. If he was a younger buck, you would have eaten him by now.

  • WHOA! DUDE! THAT WAS KOOL!

  • good shot he just jumped it, they cringe down before they take off, he was alert but thats the only way to get them to stop sometimes, bowhunting "the challenge" love it

  • WOW! What a buck! I can see how easy it would be to get shook up. But consider yourself lucky to have even had the opportunity at such an awesome trophy! I feel for ya bro!

  • thats sux, he just ducked the arrow.

  • look kinda like u hit it

  • That buck just saved his own life.I've seen them turn end for end and get hit on the side that was initialy away from the hunter. The blink of an eye.. amazing critters.

  • lucky lucky dear that woulda hit him right in his back, but he kicked forward and ducked.

  • Nice Deer.

  • Good lord what a lucky buck. I know that one made you sick.

  • The buck wasn't lucky just a bad shot. If you look at it frame by frame even if he didn't drop the arrow would have gone over the deers back.

  • no it would have hit him but it would have been a bad shot

  • Can someone tell me if you can take down a deer with a .17 HMR cal?

  • It can be done, but a .17hmr isn't legal for deer in TX. Not sure about other states.

  • @HuntingFootage its not in any state 22 and under is ilegal

  • @freindif Wrong, but thanks for playing. .22 centerfire is legal in a lot of places.

  • its possible but not likely. That, on top of being illegal (in some states) and unethical.

  • @chalkser gotta hit them in the throat, right bellow the jaw, seen it done in a farm, 50 yards out..

  • I had a 14 point buck mounted and it was fantasti but it was sold on me need to find 14point non typical deer in NB canada

  • Deer are amazing animals, they never fail to suprise me every hunt. It is almost like some can hear the sound of the arrow being released, and they will duck the best of shots. And then sometimes you will get one that gets shot at, missed, and they still stay around long enough to get a second shot off & kill them. That's why I love bowhunting, you just never know!

  • yes as a matter of fact they can hear the bow string and it is a natural reacion of them to either jump or fall to the ground

  • lolol matrix buck...

  • wow your dumb hes not a matrix buck u just aimed high...happened to me 9 times this year :)

  • i agree use a gun nice buck though

  • use a gun next time...cant dodge a bullet...good luck next time

  • Nice Deer, I did the same thing a few years ago but the buck only bolted about 20yds, I guessed him at 40yds and shot low in the brisket hitting his main arteries to the heart some tracking but claimed the deer.

  • He didnt jump the string really. If he hadnt dropped you would have hit the deer high and just wounded it. Watch it agin and see how high the hit would have been. Just a bad shot

  • Damn that really sucks. That was a very nice buck. Good luck on your next hunt.

  • Like I said mine was 10 yds. He gave me just a foot behind the shoulder. I tried to squeeze the shot in because the deer was ready to bolt. Head back and tail at 9 o'clock when he was 10 yds from me. Unfortunately I nicked the edge of the tree Later I realized I was right above his run.

  • The slo-mo makes it hard to tell if he jumped the string...I wasn't there, but that would be my guess.

You educated him quite a bit, so imagine what a trophy he'll be if you do get him in the end!

Good luck, be safe, and re-tune that bow!

  • man nice buck to bad you missed, not your fault though.

  • NICE VIDEO

  • sucks dude but people miss all the time if you never missed you never hunted before better luck next year get a bigger one

  • nice footage.. everyone misses he did not jump the string and your bow is not too loud. its called a miss. it hnappens to all of us. good luck and be safe.

  • hey man congadulations on getting so close to a trophy. i think if that was me they buck would hear my heart beat. dont worry about the miss. any good hunter has been there. good job stoping him.

IF YOUVE NEVER MISSED U DONT HUNT ENOUGH. SHIT HAPPENDS

  • its not a white tail, its a giant middle finger.

  • Damn! Sad!

  • damn, 3 weeks ago i missed a niiice huge 8 from about 20 yds away too, it couldve been my first buck ever too, than 5 days later i missed a nice 4 =[ o well ill get them in gun hahaha

  • damn i missed a nice 4 pointer at bout 15 yards away.

  • you called it 30 yd, it was 20. that buck did not jump that string. i've done it myself. and all of us will do it again. thats just bow hunting. thanks for the vidio, and nice deer.

  • i missed one this weekend he was about 90-100yds. I took 2 more shots and hit him. Followed his blood trail but never found him.

  • yea he didn't jump the string notice how the arrow is already to him by the time he ducks down any one that bow hunts know that after you even hit one it ducks like that and true all good hunters have their misses on a trophy good luck getting him

  • well the only advice i can say is if you didn't know exaclty how far he was away from you, and thought he was closer, try putting a rock at the distance in which you sighted you bow in

  • I missed a similiar size buck at 10yds. Late evening had to squeeze in a shot, just nicked a tree. Missed by 1/2 inch but thats Bowhunting.

  • wow, you must have been pissed

  • For the 15 year old- does daddy still take you out hunting? i think so... don't talk

  • Bravo for the footage, sooner or later it happens to everyone. I have my miss stories. thanks for putting it on though, really fine deer

  • called jumping string, bows to loud

  • Welcome to Bow hunting

90 persent of the hunters have missed an the other 10 present are lying about it Good luck next time

  • Man that's a nice deer. I'd throw myself off a bridge if I missed that.

  • IM 15 AND I DONT EVEN MISS DEER LIKE THAT

  • well then you are far to young to realize what "shit happens" really means. I dont care who you are everyone misses!

  • What have you been hunting a whole 3 years? EVERYONE misses, it just happens. Everyone with enough experience nows that, hence your comment. I give the guy credit for putting a miss on here, good job.

  • You are 15 and a dumbass, everyone misses

  • lets put u in a stand 20yds from him and c if u can hit him

id be shaking so bad i could hardly draw my bow

  • All the experts who never missed a shot ... sometimes the target is too close and the excitement is enough to make your heart explode with each boom boom and you cant breathe heavy though gasping for breath and you hands are shaking and your mind is racing ..... and MISS

  • Everyone that hunts with a bow should learn from this video, allways hold low. Be it on the ground or in your treestand. A deer can drop two thirds of it height at the blink of an eye. This hunter was looking at the rack. Good luck next time.

  • that's what you get for stopping him with a grunt, should have taken the shot he was not even walking fast

  • TRY A SLING SHOT NEXT TIME

  • always shot low it will hit the spot.

  • Ouch. lol good try. i had one do that last bow season. but a spikey. not a big one. but yea its a different game with a bow. ALOT different. but if he wouldnt have dipped that shot u prolly would have spine shot him. GL with your next shot

  • you dudes are ding-a-freakin'-lings. Sometimes you miss, sometimes they jump the string and sometimes they die. Hats off to the shooter and videographer for just having the chance to harvest the animal and getting it on film.

  • It took a few weeks but finally someone said something that wasn't really stupid. GOOD CALL

  • i use a rifle if a deer gets that close it will most likely die from a preditor attack anyway if i miss i mean come on 20 yards is pretty close

  • true 20 yards is close but also you have to think this guy wasnt using a rifle, he had a bow, its a totally different ball game, its a lot slower than a bullet and lots can happen by the time you release and the time it gets to the deer, all it takes if for the deer to flinch and you miss the bow shot.

  • have you guys ever heard of a missed shot? i get a kick outta you guys! saying leave the spine alone or a real hunter would have made that shot. this is reality, everyone misses shots! i dont care how good you are, its going to happen. people who talk like that probably have never shot at a living animal before. USE YOUR HEAD!

  • sights or no sights you should have not missed that deer.

  • if that woulda been me that deer would be on my wall, aim lower, that's where the heart is anyways

  • leave the spine alone... that deer should be dead.

  • aww that would just about make you cry. nice buck tho

  • deer didn't jump the string, sampson. when the arrow was only three feet from the deer, he hadn't reacted yet.

  • Thats why its hunting

  • awee that sucks that as a pretty big deer too

  • Deer, when they hear the thud of the release, hunker down before taking off. that is why so many bow hunters get spine shots.

  • Deer was probaly closer than he thought. Even if that buck wouldn't have "jumpped the string" he would have hit it in the spine. Just used the wrong pin.

  • Are you kidding me, did you watch the video...bow looked pretty on to me....the deer jumped the string and ducked right under the shot

  • sight your bow. That sucks.
