Combat Engineers ARE a combat ARMS MOS, just like 11B, 11C, and other COMBAT ARMS MOS's.

lilmenga you serious? rangers are not special forces lol special forces are handpicked from soldiers all through out the army. anybody can go to ranger school may not get through it, but rangers are definitely not special forces nor are they like special forces. special forces only have 4 mos's, any mos can go to ranger and sapper school and the only reason that is, is because all infantry and combat engineers are all deployed.

@thecheddervedder Your Rangers aren't SF but what lilmenga means they still handle elite missions. Also Ranger Regiments stills fall under SOCOM. And they provide security for SF. They wont have any old infantry unit doing their missions. And yes ANYONE can be a sapper or Ranger and earn a tab. BUT NOT anyone can be a Ranger in a Ranger RGT. A Ranger tab and being a part of a RANGER RGT. are two different things. So in conclusion Rangers aren't SF but they are considered Special operations.

Sappers and Rangers are both elite forces but sappers help on the front line as Rangers do more elite missions. Rangers are basically special forces just not as secretive.

I'm currently awaiting my ship date for AIT, 13B Infantry. Is it required that I be a Combat Engineer MOS to apply for Sapper School, or can an Infantryman apply as well?

No, any MOS can apply for Sapper school. Women are also accepted to Sapper school as well.

@ArabsStank actually dumbass, we do route clearance and area clearance in afghanistan. we drive around looking for ieds and getting blown up and shot at. every single person in my platoon has their CAB from this deployment. and the reason females can't be combat engineers is because IT IS A COMBAT MOS you stupid fuck.

No, Rangers are Elite Infantry. Sappers are Elite Combat Engineers. They have nothing to do with the other besides the are both suck fests. Yes one will help with the other because of the conditions of sleep, food and small unit tactics. SAPPERS LEAD THE WAY!
