  • mona lisa...

  • adwert.. :(

  • that's why local coffee businesses get shut down..

  • woah...that was... legitimatly amazing. You sir, are one talented engineer.

  • too bad it says starbucks coffee on it...

  • COLD coffee

    \

  • amazing! i love it!

  • how is we buy this machine ?

  • @muratback It's in the description box.

  • So cool

  • This is one of the most awesome thing I have ever seen. Really!!

  • Well done Sir! I'm impressed. To all the haters, bugger off.....

  • That's wicked!

  • typically Starbucks, which must always have the best.

  • :O wow thats amazing :D

  • I have to laugh at all the "the coffee will be cold by the time the printing is done" comments, if he coffee is cold after 2 minutes it's a pretty shoddy coffee shop! I think this is a pretty cool idea, though I do like the hand formed designs better.

  • Amazing. Truly awesome.

  • Honestly I have nothing against the machine or the person who made this, but I must express my distaste for a latte art machine. Frankly I feel it ruins the making of latte art because it has no human element to it. What I am trying to say, is that everyone is turning to machines that are more precise and can make finer details. But I think that some products are better when done by hand because it makes them special, unique. Eventually we will sit on our asses and let the machines do it all.

  • @TheBizboy80 , eh hmmmm, you say this about machines as you type it out on your computer smart guy.

    J

  • lol new machines start out slow since they don't have much development and ideas to have a solid foundation so its like playing a new game, you start out as a newb and as you progress you get better same as making a new machine or implementing new ideas with a machine -.- cars before are slow too so why the hell would you criticize this new idea -.- give it a time then trashtalk it >:D

  • That is so cool =D

  • geniaal

  • you should print jeasus face and sell on ebay! haha

  • did that guy seriously ask if that white stuff was sugar or salt?

  • This is really neat. To bad when someone's mouth messes up the artwork.

  • That is really cool. Too bad when someone puts their mouth to it, it will be ruined.

  • It sort of reminds me of a tattoo gun.

  • =O!!! Awesome!!!! I bow to you my friend!!!!

  • this is not latte art. First off its just using the carmel coloring. the beauty of latte art is how the foam and espresso mix to create a design. give me an eye dropper and i can do the same thing. and by the time you get your latte its already cold. I will admit its a cool invention, however i would not consider this latte are by any stretch of the imagination

  • so you get a nice looking cold coffee, nice :-)

  • What's that white stuff?!?!?! Sugar or salt?!?! IT'S MILK YOU MORON!!! Do you just walk up to people and ask stupid questions all the time, or just when they're filming?!!

  • that is glorious!!!!

  • NICE... I don't CARE how long I'd have to wait, but I am SERIOUSLY gonna get myself one of those!! XD

It is DEFINITELY worth the wait...

  • wow!! cool umm but it might be better if u did that urself>>>.... any way that is rally nice

  • at first I was like "wtf?"

then i was like "omg thats so cool"

  • thats amazing. im just a manual latte art kinda guy but that is so cool. i want one! hahaha :P

  • u r amazing

  • omg thats so COOL!!! BTW, its caramel that its shooting out it said on the website its on

search up latte printer and the website has the word impact in it.

  • this is great!

But the idiot comment on 0:40 is great!!!!!!

Amazing Latte printer. What is this Sugar of Salt ?

This was not Italian guy :D

How is the price when this machine is buildet in a coffieterie in Europe?

    Nice job!

    Greeting from Slovakia.

  • @myjavec1 didnt notice the ideot comment -thanks for sharing ... hahaha

  • This is great, man. I can't say that it will satisfy the general demographic of coffee drinkers, but your talent has definitely spun the market in a new direction. I understand the general uproar about "Latte Art," but I'm also a bit tired of seeing leaves, hearts and the same hackneyed designs that people have put on here. I hope you do well with your business. Thanks for thinking outside of the box.

  • have you made modifications for a faster printing?? Seems to take a long time, I would be afraid that whoever wanted their latte would not want to be late themselves on their way to work to be waiting for some cool printing on their drink. Very cool though

  • Well, if they're in that much of a hurry, perhaps they ought not stop for fancy lattes, yeah? but, then again, people do what they know will only hurt them dispite.

  • its pretty cool but when i drink my coffe i dont look at the art but it could be a really cool future

  • well dang. that's pretty cool

  • Thousands of genuine art are made in computers everyday. Printing them transfers them into a different media but art is still art. Hope your product sells well. To all the snobs out there: ENGINEERING IS AN ART. Deal with it.

  • @wzuni9a At least free pouring designs takes actual skill. *shrug.*

  • @wzuni9a How is this art? Genuine question :)

  • Remember when art was genuine?

  • WOW! Interesting.

  • this just lost the whole point of latte "art". printed graph isn't art.... way to go dumbass

  • and when it will be finished?? until then everything is ice cold!

  • wenn das ding fertig ist is die latte kalt xD^^

    5 stars

  • how pretentious !

  • ....and the craft is dead. Some things are meant to be handmade, you know.

  • cool, whrer can i buy this machine?

  • and the coffee is getting cold...

  • Genau !

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL XD

    you're right ....!

  • Photo is definitly better quality than painting whatsoever. But the best photo can mever beat the best painting.

  • Great printer.

  • That was hot! Make one that says Morning Joe: Brewed By Starbucks sometime.

  • Nice trick, but I prefer the traditional Latte Art made by a barista hands, is more beauiful and faster...

  • I agree, nothing beats the silky velvety milk that accompanies the perfect Latte Art.

  • cool, if starbucks actually sees this, you'll be effin rich!!

  • Comment removed

  • who is the absolute MORON for asking what the white stuff is! And he gets a paycheck from someone? OMG!

  • OMG!! thats crazyness...luv it!!

  • Lol I am rather impressed being a coffee loving geek XD I kinda want one now... but I'd need to improve my steaming milk so it stays better ;p

  • OMG! this is flippin SWEEEEEEEETT amazing awesomeness :D

  • lol coffee does not go cold after two mins

who drinks coffee straight away neway ??? normally you leave itt standing for afew mins to cool to drinking temp. this printing provides a cool looking coffee served at a suitable drinking temperature :D

  • This is brilliant! Not sure why people think the coffee would have gone cold, it only takes two minutes to print!

  • smd

  • usually i'd say things like this is a waste of time. But i ove the engineering and originality. But like what the other person said, the coffee would have gotten slightly cold. Maybe a faster printer is on the way....perhaps...:P

  • this is well waste of time, the coffee wud be cold after all this.

  • .

What a waste of time and resources.

    .

  • you have a lot of spare time in graduate school

  • why Latte and not Milk?

  • milk isn't thick enough

  • perchè non è milk (latte semplice), è caffè macchiato caldo con il latte, è proprio in inglese che si dice così, se vai al bar e chiedi "one latte" ti danno il caffè macchiato caldo, chest'è fra'.

  • It's wonderful, but it just goes to show that starbucks baristas will always rely on automatic machines.

Being an engineering student, I think it's an awsome idea. But by the time THAT machine is finished printing, the latte (if it's well poured) has died.

  • too bad the printer prints the logo of the dark lord on the latte. And WTF? Salt or sugar? Does he know what a latte is?

    However, this is pretty cool

  • I agree in full.

  • you do realize that the person who asked the sugar/salt thing wasn't the maker of the video, right?

  • Funny to see, how many closed minded people are out there... So many comments about HOW SLOW! It's the first machine... Then those who think it's useless... Is ART useless? Next time think about what you have invented....

  • forget pretty cool, this is AWSOME!

  • wow ;O

  • is it possible to hack your own printer to do funky stuff like this?

  • awesome :O i want that thing at home :D

  • amazing

  • good

  • That's probably what people said to the guy who built the first computer. :P

Awesome stuff. Can't wait for your 15 seconds prototype. :D

  • how much,,does this equipment,,cost,does anyone knows

  • Are you interested in building one yourself (~200), or to get the brand new one (~800$)?

  • @opikalo Not sure if you'll know what i'm actually relying to, so my apologies if this is wasting your reading time, but I'd love to find out the details for building one of my own coffee printing machines that you've mentioned would end up costing approx $200, which I'm assuming is in US Dollars. Could you please get back to me on this, as i think it'd be an awesome thing to make for my own personal use, (I drink a LOT of coffee)

  • The invention it self is amazing but Lotte art is made with your hands. not machine.

  • I totally agree. It's not as easy as pushing a button and having it done for you.

  • its art in the fact that he spent this much time constructing it and programing it. Art is all in the eye of the beholder.

  • Waaaaay too much time on his hands. Geeks rule!

  • AMAZING MACHINE WOW!!

BUT!, this cant be called latte art ,for the meaning of art is expressing ones feelings and machines dont have one...machines only print what they are programmed for, theres nothing like single poured latte art for it saves time and coffee is still hot

BUT NICE INVENTION THOUGH!! another breakthrough in technology

  • I have to say, why get starbucks coffee, i mean i'll be honest their cold drinks menu is great but the hot drinks are feral!

the froth is lumpy and not smooth, makes me sick...

i just wonder why they have no effort in presentation... as for this printing machine, pretty useless to me, if someone is going to create a pattern they should make the coffee the right way

  • wow you must be very smart if you really invented this all by yourself.

    hahah just sayin :)

  • Ok... well I still think it's cool

Perhaps not practical, but I could never do anything like that.

Why does everyone have to be so negative?

  • The video was made less than 2 years ago. Fast forward to today and you have a recession.

Sure, customers at Starbucks are just dying to pay for artisitc lattes when they are being laid off from work themselves.

Even, middle class is giving up "luxury items" by limited going out to fancy restaurants & coffee shops.

Have you heard Starbucks slashing 6700 jobs and losing 300 stores? Now, it's even having to compete with McDonald's by offering a "value" menu. Say goodbye to gourmet coffee.

  • Starbucks are horrible coffee I tried their caramel hot chocolate in Dublin Ireland and it was disgusting, terrible counterbalance.

  • He was just illustrating something he had invented, it's not like he's planning his whole life around it as a business venture. Sheesh.

  • Since when is Starbucks considered gourmet?

  • wow, that's amazing.

  • not good for art

    but good for commercial

nice idea good job! very creative for business

  • This is brilliant, cant believe the negative comments saying coffee is cold and not artisic...who said it was..it is an adaptation of a machine doing something kwirky and cool...very imaginitave...well done..(soulless-you arse)

  • wow, this is completely soulless.

this is a printer. using it takes no skill or creativity, the drink (which, judging by the pile of heavy foam and absence of crema on top, was never at par to begin with) is losing precious seconds of flavour development, and in a high volume environment, this robot would be a giant waste of time.

cool idea, but i suggest you go volunteer or jobshadow at the finest cafe in your city and learn about real coffee before trying to market this half-assed idea.

  • Shut the hell up, no skill? You try and set that up jackass. Flavour development... high volume enviroment... get a life.

  • ok, bravo that u bulit it. But..it is no more latte art. is maschine coffee art. and btw, it took too much time

    sorry I dont like it

latte art is latte art. And it can be make only by barist

  • Customer: "Nice art but my coffee is stone cold!"

  • the machine is cool...hehehe

  • Who was a cooler teenager

  • awesome!!!

  • thats cool

  • wow...

  • very impressive! but is that just a cup of milk!?

  • Latte, 30 Mls of coffee then 60 Mls of Steamed/Frothed (almost boiling but not) milk and a good amount of froth on top which make sit a latte. Thus why it's all white on top though ususally there should be crema already...

  • wow, your a fuckin genius..

i could do that but i dont want to

  • Just give me my fucking cup of coffee already

  • wat is that sugar or salt?

no no no the white stuff

    THATS MILK U FOOL!!!

  • yeah that was hilarious

  • ahaha! I was right!!!!!!

  • consumer whore!

  • look beyond the corporate logo if you can.

  • it's cool but i'm bothered when people make machines to do things that are otherwise prized as a human skill.. just seems like it cheapens the skill needed to hand-make latte art

just my opinion, what would be your counter-argument for that?

  • oh, its the starbucks symbol!!!

  • that's innovation! Awesome

  • Just saw a vid on how people are getting into this profession in Russian coffee houses. How it's a growing art form there. And it's already being replaced by technology. Amazing invention.. but damn this world.

  • me and my friend keep arguing about how you pronounce latte.

    Is it laaaaate like paaaark.

    or latte like cat.

  • lah-tey

    Hope that helps...

yeah, its a neat idea, but the time it takes to make the art is a bit long. Could you imagine a line of customers at a coffeeshop waiting for that?

I just stick to the standard pour latte art, i never cared for toothpick-ed latte art because it takes away from the actual skill it takes to make it. (granted, i understand that the creme of the shot and the milk has to be steamed/frothed almost perfectly for good art.)

  • it's latte like paaaaaark lol

  • to bad you had to drink the coffee

  • I hope you reach the MILLION views soon! because this is such an amazing video!

  • is the coffee cold yet? geez

  • Wow that is so amazing!! *claps*

  • wow starbucks should hire u

  • lol of course, at the end of all of this your latte is stone cold. Pretty neat machine though!

  • laser printers are faster!

  • I actually tried lasers on latte, it does not work - blows up bubbles instantly. Only works if you'd like to remove foam :-)

  • Well then, I'll just shut my mouth lol.

  • I have to say...I have friends that have worked at Starbucks....those machines that pull shots are not properly updated as they should be. Weather, temperature, humidity, all play a part in making good epresso. The grind of the espresso should be adjusted to accomodate all these things..plus the strenght of the preson making the shots. There are so many things that must be taken into account. A person is required to adjust this all.

  • X-Y plotter and ink-jet, nice. It would nice to see the same thing done with the industrial equipments that's used to squeeze solder on PCB boards. It would be much much faster, but cost a great deal more too. Hope your venture will do well. Cool project btw.

  • I run a coffee shop and worked very hard for a long time learning to steam milk just right and pour it correctly to make latte art. It takes practice and talent. I admit this machine seems cool at first glance but I don't understand why people want to take the human element out of coffee making. It is bad enough watching people at starbucks just push a button to pull espresso shots

  • The thinking is that the human element stays by allowing the designer to come up with the most beautiful graphics for the beverage. It is still hand drawn on computer first.

  • I agree that it takes years, talent, and a human heart, to make coffee for real people. If real people want real coffee, they'll go to real baristas. Starbucks drinkers on the other hand, just want that trendy cup in their hand when they're seen by their peers, so let them have their robot-coffee.

  • where I sell this machine

  • This is disappointing. Art can't be made by a machine, the best art has imperfections and is made by the human hand. Real creativity, not just printing it out on a coffee.

  • its as about as cool as my ass.. just use a stencil and some choc powder.

  • the cafe is cold until its printed

  • wow. if the process of this could be sped up and it only took a few seconds id put it in my cafe

  • This is super cool!!!!!!

  • can't get any better than this!

  • wow this is great!

  • grats

  • Nothing better than a nice salty latte.

  • i love it guys. much respect but i have to say baristas who do this stuff by hand are more amazing

  • Yeah it's cool and all... but not practical. It takes too long and the world is already full of too many machines to do our jobs for us. The really amazing coffee art is the hand poured rossettas and flowers done by thousands of baristas all over the world.

  • omg. if starbucks saw this they would pay u millions! omg that is freakin sweet!!

  • DUDE

    HOW DO I MAKE THIS

  • neat!:)

  • Very Cool and nice meeting you guys at Siggraph.

We posted the latte you created for Save Sonny on our channel. Check it out!

  • Wow that is very impressive how you got it to print unique patterns onto it.

  • was the coffee cold by the time you got to drink it?

  • haha i think not!

  • omg that was awesome

    coolest thing ever

im so surprised you made it

  • Nifty

  • I don't even drink latte, yet i want the machine xD

  • Yeah go away. BOTH OF YOU.
