  • CLAPTON WITH A TENOR BANJO...!!!

  • met gerry at friends funeral and he played so nice gave our pal a great send off ty gerry, gentleman

  • Absolutley CLASS. Cant wait to see him at banjo festival in Longford in sept. Some day I might be able to play half as well as that.

  • how does he do all that with just a guitar pick? He is so good at the banjo, right up there with Bela Fleck

  • this guy is a genius . love to hook him up with allison krauss and union station for a few tunes. Ive been playing this music for a long time and i cant imagine a better marriage .Ms. Krauss might just love it.. gerry douglas might even be impressed.

  • This lovely tune is called "Time to Time" and is the title track of his album. Lovely.

  • I love this , bloody fantastic. I've been playing the banjo for just a few months and in about thirty years i could sound this..... maybe.

  • the guitar player needs some credit here too ... beautiful music!!

  • Sharon, Gerry, Dessie Jim et al...consummate musicians thank you for the music

  • beautiful and of course played perfectly!!!!

  • The guy's got music coming out of his ears!

  • What's the tuning of his banjo?

  • @choudalex tuned an octave down from a fiddle. GDAE.. or else EADG . im not sure which way Gerry plays. I think its the latter. GDAE is the more common irish one though with EADG being the older way.

  • very uplifting music. great post!

  • thank you zarisstokell

  • Doesn't make you feel great to be alive. God I wish I could play like that.

  • it's a gerry original from his first album time to time. the first tune is called time to time too. i reckon the second is called moving cloud.

gerry o'connor is the finest banjo player on the planet. that includes bela fleck

  • definitley agree with you there without a doubt! barney mckennas good too but nowhere near those two!! : )

  • why no spcae u feinain fucker

  • I thought I'd seen (read) the last of Gibsonpaddy, but he's rearing his ignorant head here, too, it seems. He's been an outspoken critic of my playing as well. If he's lumping me in with Gerry, however, I take that as a sign that I'm doing something right. What a cuntbag.

  • Class playing, would love to hear and Martin Hayes, and maybe Cillian Vallely

  • What's your problem?

You act as if you are gods gift to banjo playing. Seriously, what kind of expertise do you have to be commenting on someone who is miles ahead of you in terms of banjo playing.

  • Hee! That's Winnie Horan on fiddle, and I think that's Sharon Shannon on box - who else is that one stage?

  • mate, i've seen him tonnes of times, and he's a seriously good banjo player. you're not a patch on him, or me for a matter of fact. you're videos are shit!

  • not you, i mean the "gibsonpaddy" eejit.

  • mate, when you can knock the moving cloud out like that, then you can put him down. he's an absolute god!!!! your videos are a bit shit!

  • eddie i play with gerry twice a month were also playing in strokestown roscommon with four men and a dog this saturday 11th

  • and thats y he woz voted the best and have so many fans ??? yeah?!? low life arse hole!

  • he's the only player pushing on trad music, it's muppets like you hold it back. I'd say you're not half the player he is by the sound of you. green jacket ticidy tackidy ticidy tic, and thats all you're capable of........FOOL!

  • time to time, niamh caper's and the moving cloud all off his cd titled , time to time. it is a Must Buy

  • gerry o connors triplets and improv are bloody unbelievable!

  • Fantastic.

  • Got to love Sharron's understated accompaniment. They play so well together it makes my insides hurt. Then the pain just gets worse when he lights in to "Moving Cloud." Fiver from me.

  • He's a virtuoso alright. The second reel was The Moving Cloud.

  • thanks for that Rickupinoft

  • what a man on that Banjo, a lovely piece, thanks for posting it alan, id say gerry got a few lessons off u...

  • r u for real ye wicketchicken ye
