i call this the last war of the royals because in hind sight, our forefather's died to settle a blood feud between the royal family the history runs deep look at the napoleonic wars this war is the same just with better technology and the reason why such a great slaughter took place is because you have new technology versus old school military doctrine n aristocratic redcoats full of vanity  believin the war could be won by one giant charge maybe with shitty muskets but not a modern rifle!!

The Boer war, Vietnam war, the Korean war, Iraq war, the Trogan war, the 100 years war, the Napoleonic wars, .the American war of independence, the European wars against native Americans, the Sino-Japanese wars ... you getting the picture yet?

Also you should remember few countries have done more to conquer foreigners than America, Britain and France. Freedom means money.

@R2FDeciet I doubt it. Hitler was a megalomaniac who used the Versailles treaty as an excuse to go after France and the reintegration of German citizens into the 'mother land' to conquer lands east. He had plans for the invasion of england and Russia long before they became a threat.

Ultimately Hitler would have found other excuses for expanding and the resulting war would probably have been harder and bloodier than it was. The Axis would have been stronger. Just my thoughts.

@python27au Yes but the treaty of versailles ruined the economy of the major european countries which led to the depression in Europe and without the depression the people of Germany wouldn't have had to find someone to get them out of the rough economical times they were facing, therefore the NSDAP most likely wouldn't have grown as powerful as they did

W hat a war, it should be the last, so terrible but alas it was not, my grandfather fought in WWII. I saw footage I've seen before, as a child, it was Vimy Ridge. The Canadians won. It spawned a country, which I will always defend. Thank you Allied soilders and damned Hitler. To all that prevailed in that horrible war. Thank you.
