  • @mrspiiink exactly, however it seems everyone keeps whining about it.

  • speed is not all!

  • too much legato...

  • good,as said before, the speed is too fast for the stand of technique, better more learning playing seqeunces at a row but then dont separating the notes of a seq while playing (in a rush)

  • good. I recorded myself playing this song, if you can, see it!

  • amazing!

  • this song can be played fast if it dont affect the structure and the clarity...

  • He's rushing it way too much. He can't reach that tempo, and it could just simply be slowed down.

  • Re: all the comments about this being too fast. It's not that it's being performed too fast, it's that the performer is rushing it. There's a big difference. The tempo fluctuates a bit throughout this performance, and with the exception of the ending, it should be constant. You can hear the performer trying to go faster, and then back off a bit. It's subtle, but as someone who has been playing Bach for 35 years, that's what I hear.

  • way too fast. listen to Peter Serkin's version to get a sense of other options.

  • my favourite bach with no. 8

  • Nobody CAN know, how fast you should play it!

You can only guess... so no tempo can be ´false`

I think if your playing is good you can also as fast like this, but sry, i dont think its well played

  • I don't understand why nobody thinks it sounds good this fast, I thought it was really nice!

  • this song was ment tp be played fast, stop posting comements about it being fast

  • @jadepokefan4ever The original isnt and because its this fast it sounds like CRAP

  • uhhh it would have been much better if you slowed down

  • too fast and uneven. :( try adding the ornaments in LH at 0'18-0'25.

  • Too fast!!

  • @martilla9 According to who?

  • tu joue tres mal !!!!! il fau pa lié les croches!

  • I litterally learned it in 5 days. The thing is - it's not a hard peice to play , It's just tricky because there's no actual melody - it switches around. And the fact that it was written in the braoque periods ( No dynamics whatsoever) makes it hard to relate to the piece. It's difficult to ''feel the music''. But it's an okay piece. I just can't seem to get used to Bach.

  • troppo veloce

  • this should be a lot slower, more emeotion, almost regal, but it should not be played fast, a king does not run!!

  • Even though I'm an amateur (never had a music lesson in my life), somehow I managed to learn this piece (at a slower tempo and without the trills, sadly). Now I'm playing it constantly.

  • i playing this song.. Very well ! :-)

  • Meh, I think this is okay-ish. I mean, your technical skills are very well developed, and if I said mine were better I would be lying. But where's the phrasing and, most importantly, the feeling? I'm hearing notes that you are playing, and not music.

  • hehee i'm 12 and i can play this piece almost this fast without mistakes!!

  • @kagome4evershines so if you want to be a great musician, quit the arrogance...

  • i've played only about 9 years and I taped my own bach invention:) well its one of the simpler ones. a bit simpler than this but I'm only 13 so give me a break =P

    Heres a link: 3 .ly/XDTV

  • muy bien te felisito y tu piano que bonito suena felisidades

  • wow good technik it shuldnt be a presice tempo it dont need to be played slow its like a etude both fast (for technik) and a bit slower. this was awesome

  • Bach was fond of saying that music was not difficult. "Just hit the right notes at the right tiime, and the instrument plays itself.' he said. What a joker...

  • a little rushed in my opinion. but thats just opinion. great work.

  • @bachinventions wow it took me about 25 hours in total :P

  • I think your technics are really good, but I think you have to frase this piece. Im busy studying this piece right now and my piano teacher says i have to frase this.

But, as i said, your technical skills are very good.

  • Your tempo isn't constant. It speeds up and slows down at different places. Maybe try playing it slower. You still did a good job though

  • This is one of favorite pieces... It only took me four years to get here, but then again I can only play at about half this tempo... :)

  • @xxDisneyCutiesxx You know what maybe I am emberrassed.......and I know for sure that I am not dumb.....as long as I know what I am and I am happy with myself...I'll be fine cuz what others say and think don't matter.......You have taught me this lesson...I thank you......... and in my mind I have won in a way you wudn't understand.....

  • Comment removed

  • @xxDisneyCutiesxx you know what I understand what you do....you pik on someone who seems ignorant and rude, but there actualy great people and you make them seem evil...you build them up with rage and anger while you stay calm and hen you go and bring them down by proving them wrong and humiliating them...thats to make yourself look like a victim and the other person like a bad guy...I've figured you out...you may not realize you do this but u do it subconsciously.........

  • @xxDisneyCutiesxx I removed my own comments...stupid...and you sound just like my nine year old brother............tu eres comemierda!

  • Comment removed

  • @xxDisneyCutiesxx no jokes on you...you said this was your friends account....and you just sed "Hey... this has been my friend the whole time" or "My sibling took my account password". Nobody falls for that anymore."

  • I also play that piece too. Nice job!

  • Articulation is not correct. For instance, you should play non-legatto with the eighth notes. Also, you are not respecting the end of the phrases. Excessive legatto!

  • hey echt geil!

    ds muss man erstmal hinbekommen

  • This is "too fast", but crystal clear. I don't know what's a perfect rendition, but I'm sure this is almost there. Congratulations!

  • too fast , or?

  • soo fast

  • just so you know there's no arpeggio or ritard at the end of the song

  • @Xcile1234 There actually is in the republished version from 'Klavierwerke von Joh. Seb. Bach' edited by Carl Czerny (1791-1857).

  • Masterfully done, young Salieri!

  • i realy don't like this

you screwed up this whole song

    it's too fast!!

  • It's played well, but for the sake of the piece, slow it down.

  • @KamiwanMUFFINS I don't think it's that well played really... (not that I'd do any better) the pianist is very good though, but the piece would indeed improve by using a slower tempo...

  • @fedepresti you are absolutley right

  • @carolyuyu1112 Where did you get that tempo marking from?

  • Whoever says that 2 part inventions are "hard" seriously needs to get a clue.

  • i hope im not being to critical but in measure 7 about 0:18 the fingering is different from the book. great video though!

  • that's stupid comentary, there are a lot of different editions of inventions, each one with is own fingering, and bach in the original sheetmusic didn;t put fingering.

  • he probably didn't know that, no need to call him stupid.

  • i didn't called him stupid, just to his comment, but yeah you are right he is stupid,

  • ...

  • this is a very hard piece...

  • i have less than you , and i 've learned four of variations in two days, in less than a week i played it perfectly with an hour of diary practice.

  • Wonderful piece.

  • my 7 yr old daughter loves this piece & halfway finished learning it ...will post once she has learned completely...she really loves your interpretation also.

  • What year of piano played this piece?

  • Grade 7

  • sounds way better on harpish chord like supposed to

  • Holy ur mad good. Im learning this piece and so far its easythough Im only up to my right handXDI hope to get as fast and good as ulucky duck

  • i'm learning it too, the notes are sooo easy but it's really hard to get them under my fingers, urgh, i'm kinda frustrated

  • Well... longer than 4 beats, surely.

This brings up the question of why 1,2, 3,4,5,7,9,13,1415 hae fermatas on the last note, 6,810 on the final double barline and 11, 12 have fermatas on the last note and on the final double barline.

Do harpsichord notes last longer than 4 beats anyway?

Maybe he's just trying to say fermata = end.

  • Wow, your timing is WAY off... slow down...

  • woww!

  • where can i find the correct fingerings for this piece

  • J.S. Bach Two-Part Inventions Alfred masterwork edition sheet music book.

  • Doesn't your teacher have any suggestions?

Peters Edition N°4201 has fingerings of Ludwig Landshoff on an Urtext (the notes that Bach originally wrote). But your hands may not be identical to his...

  • very nice playing!

  • Does anybody actually coulnt the length of that last chord???

  • very very fast... slow down just a bit... but wondefull dexterity...

  • i just have a question, im 14 and im playing this, is that supposed to impressive that im playing it at that age or is that normal? thanks, btw, nice playing! sounded amazing!

  • im 11 and playing it. so im guessing normal. ive seen like 5 year olds playing it, those bastards! who are they showing off to! jk.

  • If you started piano only two months ago it would be pretty impressive. If you started 6 years ago, you're a little behind in progress! :)

If you practise three hours a day, then you'd better give up the instrument, if you practice 45 minutes a day then this could be a 3rd year piece.

  • i dont know but to me it sounds to fast. i did one (zackquint159) and i won state with it.

  • how long did it take you to play this perfect ?

  • lol, let's say... about 25 years?

  • No, seriously! How long?

You play it very nice, by the way!

    :-)

  • Comment removed

  • @bachinventions nothing against you, but i have learned this now for my second week, and i can play it half way through. :P

  • @bachinventions .....25 years ? lollllll

  • @JewelJulia

--> well i can't answer your question but it took me 2 weeks... ^^ and 3 weeks play it perfect.. :)

  • @JewelJulia You could have it learned and basically "perfected" in like a month or two. Assuming you practice well, and for good periods of time daily.

  • NICE!

  • this is great!! and helpful for timing.

  • itsa lady who is playing bach wow

  • slow down a bit.

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSYYdduadfuehfhfjjhjhhUUSUUhuahUAHUaAaAaaAaAaAaAaAaAaaAaAaAaAaaAaaAaAaA

  • ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooovghnhjsgfnbaufjaufbafbafrgirgTTUEIWG8EE8

  • you are very good

  • Das ist cool..

Ich spiels auf Saxophon;- auch nett!

  • there is no debate bout it. in every music school if u play piano, when learning musical peaces ull learn it first, hand by hand than hands together. saying diferent u call 100000000 piano teachers crazey

  • you dont bring out the 2 voices in both hands enough

  • Indeed, this piece was not a delight to listen to, as it should be.

  • I'm trying to learn this right now. I can play each hands part just fine, but playing them together is driving me crazy. Any advice?

  • Never play any song with only one hand,

it's a complete waste of time,

instead practice each bar slowly with both hands, until you learn the whole song,

    then speed it up.

  • It's completely not a waste of time to play both hands apart at first..

  • explain...

  • I've been taught it like that at music school. Just like playing things slow, playing both hands apart at first is a great help to avoid mistakes and learn it right faster :)

  • I've been taught otherwise, if you learn a piece with one hand at a time you accomplish nothing.

When you begin to play with both hands it's like learning it all over again.

  • Meh how can you say you accomplish nothing, you will learn two hands way faster and cleaner if you learned em apart at first... It's not because of nothing they teach it like that at music school (:

  • Experience.

  • Think of it this way: If you'd want to learn how to do a dance routine, which would be the quickest method to be able to do it? Doing it all at once, or learning it step by step?

  • That;s not what I'm trying to say, that analogy is good for practicing slowly.

  • oh, i see now. Well, practicing one hand at a time grows technique fastest. When one has the required technique however, learning with both hands at the same time will be faster. But the theory behind one hand at a time is the fact that you can play much better with one hand than with 2 simultaneously. Technique also improves fastest this way, and it helps make the hands not rely on the other; preventing hand memory and promoting actual memory.

  • ty, I will ttry that now.

  • @ZookaOwnz yep you're right. First step: learn the notes. Second step: playing separated (they teached me this way). Third step: playing both. Fourth step: Feel Bach!

  • i'm 13 and its going very well, try to learn it slowly first

  • Respekt! - Bravo!

  • awesomeee

but ur lacking dynamics on some parts

  • Dynamics, hmm?

  • You did great! Kudos for achieving the exact 1.00 length, just like Bach wanted! This is a very good tempo - playing any slower would probably drain the piece of it's essence. Well done indeed! ^_^

  • That's too fast!!

sorry, but it's not very good...

This cut me to the quick.!.

  • Very smooth and fluent, good display of skills. But I think the playing lacks interpretation, also played too fast.

  • 1:00. Bach wanted it that way.

  • You play well, but too fast for my taste

  • you play really well and seem to be highly talented, but don't you play this piece ways too fast?

  • Necessarily the note 1/8 was played portato.

    you play legato!

  • i have to do this for my freashman year solo peice im so vary scared

  • thanks! i will continue to watch this video

because according to this i have only learned about 1/5 of what you have played :)

  • Great Master! i like ur tempo and quickness

  • wow u r amazing!!!! I haven't seen anything like this on youtube! great job!!! keep up the good work! :) oh and don't mind elcapote90, he is a total jerk...

  • Im sorry ABOUT ELCAPOTE90, HE IS REALLY AN IDIOT. YOu didn't deserve that comment, this is the best video of this on the internet. Very well done, i give you my sincerist.

  • mmm me parece mala la interpretacion de verdad creo que te falta ponerle sentimiento a la pieza la velocidad no es todo :)

  • I was very distracted by your rhythms. Even from the first octave G's in the left hand. Your 16th notes do not line up...Interpretation cannot be to the sacrifice of good rhythm.

  • im playing that!! :)

  • VERY VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE!

And a good role model for all piano players, thank you so much for devoting your time to upload this fantastic video!

  • whats up with you? her interpretation is among the best here on youtube. i suggest you record the first invention and let us be wittness of your (musical) maturity!

  • im not a fan of classical music but... this is great

  • Ok on the fingering. Otherwise well done.

  • Very good interpretation! Tell me, on measure 14, how do you play the ornament? I mean, what are the notes you play?

  • Oh sorry it didn't come through well. Click on the balloon around measure 14 for more details about it!

  • leichte temposchwankungen aber sonst ok , würde mir überlegen es nicht ein wenig langsamer zu spielen ...

  • aufjedenfall. warum so runter rasen? das ist doch kein schwanzvergleich?

  • great job!

i'm playing this too..but you're way better than me!

  • OMG I have to learn this! It's a classic, so beautiful!

  • bien joué, tempo bien gardé avec de la maitrise

  • too fast? technically it's too slow by about 15%. its supposed to be quarter = 120. its about 100 in this one.

  • i believe the song is 78 my friend according to the sheet music in front of me

  • perhaps that measn it doesn't actually matter, cause mine says 120. 78 is comforting because 120 seems a tad too much for, well, playing.

  • yeah 120 is pretty intense usually when i see/hear it played its done at or around 78 course theres always a few that seem to play it faster than most

  • Bach's manuscripts don't have BPM on them, these were added later (with things like dynamics and such) to meet the mood of the age in which the music is published. I think it's too fast, but focusing on speed misses the point of the inventions entirely. And trying to impart modern pianistic "emotion" on these baroque harpsicord pieces is a bit like expecting your toaster to talk to you.

  • way too fast....and empty

  • I agree.

  • Please explain "empty"

  • without emotion.

  • well, its hard to play Bach correctly and show emotion. Some could argue that this is too legato, plus its hard to tell emotion only seeing only his hands play, stage presence plays a big part.

  • emotion doesn't come from the notes. classical players study their entire lives to play with emotion. look at yoyo ma... he can take notes and play them with emotion. one could argue bach is easy to play with emotion because its so good.

  • I'm not quite understanding what you are saying, you say emotion doesn't come from playing the notes, then yoyo ma plays notes with emotion?

  • its not about playing the notes. its about knowing how to play them. there's more involved than plucking a string or hitting a key. tone and timbre and whatnot.

  • yes, I agree. There is quite a lot to look for in Bach's music. A lot of emotion tends to tie together with dynamics, which i don't use when preformin Bach. A good thing to look for are phrases or deceptive cadences, in which to slightly pause or maybe put a legato feel into the piece.

  • well i dont think its to fast and its well played ;)

  • nice ,.....but maybe a little bit to fast !!?

  • maybe yes, maybe not...
