lol, these are heart stopping moments and scare the cr@p out of you, you get so angry at the time but can have a good laugh abt it afterwards :o)
The silly thing is EWE can easily see her from a fair distance away but either your head is down or it hasn't registered what it is yet otherwise you'd have slowed down. Funnily, advance driving techniques help you recognise these hazards (open gates etc)
Laughing aside.... I was hurtling down a hill through some woods a couple of years ago (on a bridlepath) and an unleashed dog ran out in front of me. I'm guessing at 35mph+ as I hit it.
Took me over two years of doctors, hospitals & eventually physio visits to finally get my back & neck right again.
the "sport"cyclists of now are just abnormal. why would they cycle on the middle of the road. have no bells just act like jerks. when my gandma died and we where following the grief journey those kind of cyclist just zigzagged through it on the middle of the road between other cars i could kill them. thats how angy is was.
Haha your so highly strung its hilarious! Again, another video where your ranting and raving, this time your shouting at a sheep..fuck sake. Did you get its reg number? Fool.
Well, you avoided a collision, so good job there...but, whatever possessed that sheep to race across the roadway like that?! Do you think something frightened it?
I must say, it was so unexpected, I shouted out loud.
Dude, if a steel, hydraulic door closed on your midsection and was cutting you in half, you would scream so bad. You... Scream... All... The... Time... Haha! =P
You know the Russians trained dogs to blow up tanks? And the US navy trained dolphins to blow up ships? I think that this was an assassination attempt by those pathetic drivers who instead of addressing their poor road skills (which place your life in danger), think that by threatening you their stupidity and/or ignorance will be forgotten.
HAHA!! I just can't get over the noises you make when you get really excited. "AHHHHH!!! You stupid fucking bastard!" I would never hear my doc. saying that.
Very well made this, I have have sheep do this to me sometimes, don't half give you a fright. They always cross at the worst moment too ! :-) Many thanks :-)
Bad road craft. You should have seen the sheep and anticipated what it might do. But you're the bleating twat on the bike who blames everyone else for his cock-ups so I don't expect you to understand this.
You shod read "Proficient motorcycling". It's meant for bikers, but it's useful for cyclist too. You didn't spot the danger in time and when it happen, you act with textbook target fixation .
Nice broken pot-holed road. You won't mind riding in a cycle lane even if it's like this road then will you? My point..? You say you won't ride in cycle lanes because of the state of some of them, yet you seem to ride on this one ok - at speed as well. You really do contradict yourself at times.
It certainly does have plenty of potholes. However, if you can't understand the difference of traveling down a deserted country road (which I know very well) and traveling down a busy road with cars passing close by to you, then there is no hop. ;-)
@magnatom .......*rolls eyes*....you miss my point entirely. I just mean, you complain about potholes in a cycle lane.....then willingly go on a road like this....AT SPEED TOO! I live in Devon, and there are plenty of back-roads like that, but I would not drive my car on them as fast as you're cycling on that one.
Nice near miss with the sheep by the way! Have to say I did laugh at your cursing - cos I'd have done the same!
@BigGigantos The pot holes thing isn't necessarily why cycle lanes can be dangerous, although it doesn't help. Cycle lanes are usualy located at the edge of the road, which would be fine if it weren't for all of the other things located at the edge of the road, slippery drain covers, bus stops, parked cars and rubbish in the gutter. I can't count the number of times I've been cut up by a bus pulling in front of me to a stop, so often it's safer to stay in the centre of a lane than a cycle lane.
@magnatom I remember the potholes from town better than I can the ones to the hills from where I live. But I tend to keep an eye on the road a bit more in town as anything can walk out on you, and not cycle so fast so I can stop and not to pull out into danger.
I cycle on the right side of the cycle lane, and pull in when i hear a car, to save my skin more than give up right of way.
My brother is to a car what you are to a bike, an accident waiting to happen becasue it 's your(his) right of way.
@BigGigantos ... Well in a town with a potholed cycle lane he can chose to cycle on the road if its on better condition... now in the middle of the country on a potholed road his only other option is cycling through the fields.... which would you choose?
There's clearly no contradiction as the circumstances are different.
but in both cases he chooses the better road surface. Herp Derp.
@BigGigantos Absolutely true. Make no mistake, but I would rather have a puncture or break a wheel with loads of room, on a country lane, to react and space to react appropriately. That is not the case if you have a kerb one side and a bus the other.
I suggest you keep quiet until you know what you're talking about.
but then again cyclists do the same thing in heavy traffic in red lights they pass cars and lorrys stopped at red lights and go thru them when theres people crossing and its the pedestrians who have to dodge out of there way kmt just let 1 cyclits touch me when im crossing the road wwhen theres a green man sayis i have the right to cross
ure just so stupidddd and these videos make u look like a div what ever happend to looking way head planning anticipate and take the apropiate action u shud carry the highway code book with u
A deer almost did that to me, but I stared at it and it backed down.
I had a pigeon or pheasant fly out of a bush slap bang into my front wheel once, lots of feathers, don't know how it felt after that.
Best of all was a squirrel that sprinted all the way across the road, and managed to go BETWEEN my wheels as I was braking hard at about 20mph. I was stunned.
Why curse at an animal when it's your own lacking observational skills that created this situation? This isn't amusing, it's pathetic. You should have anticipated an animal can do strange things, and you could not see around that bend to the right. Therefore you could not give it a wide berth, and should've slowed down. If you do not presume a sheep is daft, you're the greater idiot.
Listen to the video. The initial shout was at the animal. A reaction. You then hear me growl. That was aimed at myself. I was annoyed at myself. I am happy to hold my hand up and admit that I made a mistake. I've learned from it.
Have you ever made a mistake? More importantly were you willing to admit it and learn from it. Most importantly were you willing to share that mistake with the world, so that others wouldn't make the same? If so, good for you.
That ambiguous growl aimed at yourself then is the only hint at your admission of a mistake, apart from this post. Excuse me for wrongly assuming from the title, intro and ending - as well as the context of hundreds of pointy-finger videos on your channel, that the sheep was getting the blame. Based on this scant evidence to the contrary perhaps my mistake here is being too harsh, but I like making my (road) position clear without leaving room for misinterpretation.
@NijntjeMegen Who are you to presume a sheep is daft? The fact that he shouts regardless of what he says, curse or no curse may have spooked the animal. Just shooting down the road potentially clad in spandex is enough to put fear into the heart of both man and beast.
Did anyone get hurt, no . Did magnatom learn to expect strange reactions from a beast, yes ,thanks to your post. Get off yout high horse and get on a bike, have some fun, you just might need it.
I hold that every single person, animal or item in or near the road is daft until proven otherwise. Not only does this encourage defensive riding and prevent whoops-a-daisies, it prevents aggression too. And as you can tell, I'm otherwise prone to dress like a love-child of Darth Vader and Thor, jump on a big Friesian with ironclad hoofs to guarantee potholes - and make heads roll. Carglass don't yet have a quickfix solution to a mace.
The blame lies with you, as a road use you should be looking ahead to see if there is ANYTHING that is likely to cause you to divert or emergency stop. The sheep was visible standing on the side of the road from 20-30 metres back. I hate to think what would have happened if you had been in a car.
sorry but my sympathies lie with the sheep...she quite clearly had the right of way and besides, i could clearly see her indicating. Furthermore, you need to know that a fellow sheep she was running toward has taken your details and reported the incident to the police
@hunhun23 Deer is the issue here, sheep aren't on the road that often (mostly see them being moved from field to field but every so often one gets out).
They're a bit stupid too, I saw one run head first into a metal fence beause it couldn't find the hole in the bush it was using (I was in between the sheep and the bush hole).
@drsquirrel0 deer out one the road are a problem as well. I almost had a run in with one the other night. I was driving down the road heading home after a long day at work and this doe runs right out in front of my car. Thankfully I was driving slow enough that I did not hit it. Deer are beautiful but they are dumb as all hell.

Do you believe that animals do that on purpose?
I mean.. it was obviously waiting for you, and then launched off. This sheep has some awesome timing! Cute :3
I think it escaped from the other side, and then it noticed someone is coming for it, so it returned.

We have that problem here in the states as well. Someone on a motorcycle hit a black bear and had to be air evaced to the hospital
