I like kirk, but he uses so much wah pedal so then you realize that he doesnt play as good as it is said. He is overrated. And also he doesnt write songs. Dave, does everything: Lead, Rhythm guitars, writes his own songs, has perfect solos. So i think he is better.

Hammet is the best emotional guitar fucker out there, Metallica ftw. I dont dislike Megadeth, they have some cool songs too, but keep it real, no1 comes to close what metallica was in the 80s.

i love both of them. but i gotta say when it comes to guitar kirk just totally annihilates dave at everything. kirk's confidence, charisma and stage presence is out of this world. when dave, however, plays he's so still and so stiff. kirk has his own unqiue style of playing, you can tell his solo from a mile away whereas with dave it's like just another metal solo. .
I never really liked Kirk, but I admit, he's probably a better guitarist than I'll ever be; I just find his music so overrated, I mean he made Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest guitarist ever and Dave was nowhere in that list. I don't mean to compare the two since I love both bands, but Dave has just always been better, or at least more technical in my opinion.
They're both great guitarists, but in my opinion metallica would have been better off with someone a bit more creative, listen to James' rhythm in the solo sections, brilliant. All different types of riffs. Listen to Kirk's solos, repetitve, it seems like he rushes to get them done

Well, I love both bands. As Metal bands they're both great. As far as guitar skills are concerned, Dave Mustaine is WAY better tha Kirk Hammet. Kirk is always playing the sam e licks over and over...and wah...jesus 90% of his solos have Wah on it. Always following the time signature of the songs. Dave, on the other hand, is a great player, agressive, creative and a great composer. That's just my opionion.

Well, I love both bands. As Metal bands they're both great. As far as guitar skills are concerned, Dave Mustaine is WAY better tha Kirk Hammet. Kirk is always playing the sam e licks over and over...and wah...jesus 90% of his solos have Wah on it. Always following the time signature of the songs. Dave, on the other hand, is a great player, agressive, creative and a great composer. That's just my opionion.

i am a metallica fan but i would say dave is better. kirk does jack-shit 4 metallica compared 2 what mustaine does 4 megadeth. yes maybe kirk's solos r better but mustaine writes megadeth's songs and he's the lead vocalist as well. kirk barely does any back-up vocals. so as an all-round guitarist and musician, mustaine owns hammett.

If you really agree with that than Madonna and ABBA are better than Metallica.
