Heres my thoughts. Megadeth now and in the 90's were much better than metallica. the only reason Metallica is even considered a great thrash band is because of Kill Em All, which I might add, Mustaine wrote alot of. If it wasnt for K.E.A, Metallica wouldnt even have a place in my mind. Metallica has been on a downward spiral since Kill Em All. R.T.L was a good album, but anything after that is 2nd to any Megadeth album released in the 80's or early 90's.

Metallica blows. I grew up listening to them. They were really good up to the mid to late 80st hen they started selling out. Megadeth may have also done some marketing but they always stayed true to their roots. They're still about the music which is one reason for why the band has stil been successful through the years regardless of hundreds of line-up changes. If Kirk were to leave Metallica the band would implode. They almost declined after Jason Newsted left. They could have quit years ago.

Dave sed very clearly that he would give anything to go back in time to when Lars James and Cliff told him to go to Alcoholics Anonymous and he refused. Hence the reason why they kicked him out is because of his constant violence and drug abuse. But they admit it put them in the path of finding a better guitarist. I actually dont think Mustaine is that great a guitarist either, but he is better than Hammet... my stuffed pikachu is a better guitarist than Hammet, at least HE would have some stage presence.

Hammet has to be one of the WORST professional lead guitarist i have EVER heard. His solos have no feel, no structure, no technique (no good technique anyway). But i guess its all down to personal taste. I just hate how so man people lick his ass hole just because he is in Metallica.

I have to say that metallicas stuff at time may have been more complex, but megadeth got (and can still get) about 2 or 3 times the amount of political subtext and agression in their music in 2 minuets (which is what both bands and thrash respectivly claim to do) than metallica in 2 10 minuet songs. they just went public at the right time by changing their sound(argubly for the better). Megadeth mave had a harder time doing that(especially when the went rock/pop for a bit).
