  • Don't cry because it's over. Laugh because it happened.

  • Wonderful oldie !! One of my favourites. I can never understand why it has never been used as the feature song in a romance film. Like "Unchained Melody" was used for that wonderful movie "Ghost" with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. Remember the pottery wheel scene in THAT one ? SO hot !!!! ;)

  • If I'm not mistaken, this is the Solid Gold Saturday Night show that use to come on back in the 80s. I miss programs like this. I wish that they would show reruns of all of the old musical shows.

  • I had the great honor of being in a band, Monty and the Crystals, who worked with Casey Kasem in his L.A. Valley show. Mel Carter, Bobby Vee, Bobby Vinton, and many others performed. I was just a kid at 18 years old, but those were beautiful, wondrous, and sometimes, strange times. Wish I could do it again.

  • Please give me your opinion. I sang this in the Finals of Greer Idol competition 2 weeks ago. I don't know how to set up a link but it's at greer idol . com doug allen finals Thanks

  • great job on this one rock - to bad for this generation missing out of what great music really is. Their to busy spinning around on their backs cleaning the floor dancing to artist who have no talent can"t sing and cover it all up with a bunch of loud talk using foul talk calling it music what a joke! tks again rock send us another one!

  • Mel Carter and artists like him were the best, you got to know all of the words and you and your baby would be cruising through the drive-ins singing them with guys like Mel Carter on the radio, what an era, I miss it so much. He is truly blessed with that wonderful voice. What a beautiful song too, brings back so many fond memories, my Pontiac Convertible, my girl, at the drive-in, ahhhh, the life!

  • I love this song I especially loved it in Too Wong Foo

  • this is just that good! cant explain the feeling i get when i hear them old school backing vocals!! damn good! :)

  • This is when music was great!!! No worries except if you were gonna make it home before curfew..

  • @dolittle1949 lol omg yes

  • forget that, for this day and time , this guy is as smooth as they come i don't know what happen to music, but the crap thats out here today is as bad as it get. To me its the sure signal that this world is going to hell in a hand basket, the music today, if you can all it that, disrespects not only women , but human existance as we know it

  • A timeless song, beautifully sung. Just one of the great love songs. Just head it on the radio while driving and had to write down the singers name. Glad it's on youTube.

  • i remember when my dad used to dance with my mom in the kitchen to this song at ft. ord ca. i'm 39 now,and i'm afraid good music like this,as is ft.ord,is long gone. those are fond memories i have of my parents from those days. i'm sure my mother is waiting in heaven for my father to once again dance to this song.thanks for such a great posting

  • just listen now this is class from the music to the lyrics of this song and the singer you could not have picked a better one! No one else sings this song live him what a classic from begining to the end tks for this wonderful video winner winner!

  • I'm feeling this way about the man I'm in love with .....age does not matter. I felt this way as a teenager and the intensity of kissing, thrills me more because of my age. Who would have thought someone over 50 could feel like this??? Books are being written on this song's message as I type. The Science of Love is a great read.

  • @MsJanDF

HI! Who is the author? I'm over 60 (but don't look it at all, thank God) and I STILL feel this way about my current love. Age is irrelevant I think when FEELINGS are involved. The best to you!

  • @MsJanDF who is the author of the book you are recommending? I am over 60 and still feel the way you have described. I have recently met a man and fallen madly in love - it's as exciting as ever! Age is irrelevant when FEELINGS are involved. Wishing you the best. In case you have received this twice - I wrote it again because it appeared not to have been posted ..

  • WOW...just WOW!

  • The first time I herd this song was when it was sung on the film 'we were soldiers' just after i proposed to my now wife and descided there and then that this would be our song. To our suprise when it was played at our reception it suprisd most of the people there that we chose this song because of our ages and i think everyone thought we would choose something more up to date but we both loved the song and it went down very well at our wedding too. :)

  • I LUV MEL CARTER, AND THE WAY HE SUNG THIS SONG WITH SUCH EMOTION...MY FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME....AGE DOESN'T MATTER I WOULD MARRY U MEL CARTER AT ANYTIME...LOL

  • this song is one of my favorites. where did good music go?

  • @atoz831 In the crapper just like the economy!

  • Thanks for posting. Very cool !!! Beautiful song beautifully done. A classic. this is music

  • I really need to get in touch with Mel Carter himself. If anyone has a number or email of Mel, please, please have him to email me at: whitediamondz2u@yahoo.com I really, really need to get hold of him. Thanks.

  • Let me say this, "no one" can sing with deep feelings like Mel Carter can. He puts so much of himself into his songs. This especially always hits the very depth of my very being. Mel is "the best there is, the best there was and the best that there ever will be" as a truly gifted and genuine R/B artist! He will always have a place here in my heart!

  • hey im 19 years old and i love this oldies music better than todays music if thats wat u call it today 50s and 60s music u can relaxe to and feel the emotions from the lyrics and the way songs were sung back then now we have this crap music that dont move me wat so ever goodbye to todays music and hello again to the 50s and 60s music its much better never lets u down

  • Funny you mentioned that b/c I was thinking the same thing in regards to how we have gone down the tubes in such a pretty short amount of time.

  • No one can sing this like Mel!

  • Can anyone tell me what year was this video recorded?...He is Super! The best of the best.

  • @piotrovsky1 I thought I saw somewhere that it was 1988. I just looked and couldnt find the yr tho. Odd???

  • awesome!!!!! The best!

  • Love You Paul A.N.!This is just so are our song!....and don't forget to kiss me....Olya

  • This is Bill's song to Grace as long as Danny and I can remember. Beautiful song.

  • bye j >3 your ^0^

  • my grandma (mom-mom) and me luv this songggggggggg! :P

  • Mel REALLY IS VERY IMPRESSIVE!

  • Hold me, hold me,

Never let me go until you’ve told me, told me,

What I want to know and then just hold me, hold me

Make me tell you I’m in love with you.

What a good music. The lyrics mede feel that love and respect still exist.

This is to you Honey. My sweet heart. You make tell you I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU!

  • The original version was released by Karen Chandler in 1952, released by Coral Records as catalog number 60831. It first reached the Billboard magazine charts on October 17, 1952 and lasted 18 weeks on the chart, peaking at #7. [1] It was her only charted hit. The version most often heard today is the latter-day hit version recorded by Mel Carter, reaching #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #1 on the "Easy listening" chart in 1965.

  • GREAT,!!!! How I miss this music.

  • this song is pure MAGIC.

  • June 8, 2010

Mel Carter a most wonderful great singer... this recording is a legend as Mel Carter is.... This song reminds me of the greatness of the song ..... "It's all in the game" by Tommy Edwards

  • I disagree; he's not as good as he used to be, he's much better!

  • Such a beautiful song which showed the time it was made. I believe 1965 the yeear before I was borne. it shows things were still normal in '65

  • My dear wife of forty years has been the last love I have found!

  • SUPER CLASS! What happened to this guy ~ although, how would he top THIS?!!?!

  • He did on a PBS show covering the music from that time, I mean He bumped it up a bit.

  • Beautiful song. Love his voice. A song that puts you in the mood. What an under rated song and musician. He really did this song asif he were a Hall of Famer.

  • This is a beautiful song. One of the all time classics in my opinion. This guy's singing voice is amazing.

  • Wow! What a pro!

Suffice to say beautiful song, beautifully sung.

  • wow

  • Just look at the love & 't joy on this lad's face & body language as he croons his song o' 'love...oooh 'tis fine...where oh where is this fine love & passion in all our lives.?..I want me some!...never, never, never let me go! ~Peace & joy to my fine polkster & nessie, goes without sayin', lol! jillybabes/cakes! Out!

  • First heard this when i was 17 driving my old mustang and fell in love with it; that was 1993!

  • I love to read about people that love this song.

It reached the top 10 in the summer of 1965.

It may have been a top 3 if it wasn't for a few little known groups like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, Sonny & Cher, The Four Tops and Herman's Hermits, [what did THOSE groups ever do?]

It's in my top 10 of the rock era also and I was able to sing it note for note until about 10 years ago.

  • I love this song, and Mel is absolutly the best who can sing it.. Love it..

  • This song is like having the ist pick in the NBA lottery. Send em Home Mel,lol.

  • Good call mature one.....ur rite!!!!!

  • I love this song on the movie ''We Were Soldiers'' couldn't get a better moment for the song!!!

  • i agree that was awsome

  • this song was my moms favorite song .she died in 2005 it means the world to me

  • @butchk66

God Bless You, and your memories...Your mom had a great heart

  • what a voice, what a song -- almost as if there are two song in one.

  • When was this recorded????....

  • Back in the mid to late 60s---I remember it well. If you do a search here you can see him in black and white when he sang it right after it came out on the charts. This music from the sixites was HOT!! without smothering you to death.

    From a Mature Teenager! LOL

  • Alrighty, thanks. I'm only 15 and I think this song is amazing. Too bad other people these days don't agree.... :/

  • Too many people really limit themselves by only being interested in music from their era. They are missing out on SO much great music. Apparently that is NOT you. Good for you.

  • Yeah. This girl asked me today what kind of music I liked. I told her oldies. She responded with "THE BEATLES? OH MY GOD GROSS". I was disappointed.

  • @jaksplitter

sounds like you need to get rid of her! Anyone who doesn't appreciate good music, from whatever era, isn't worth knowing!

  • @jaksplitter

it's the girl who is GROSS!

  • @urdivine I'm dating myself, but I was just starting hi school when this came out, learning to drive in a '65 Impala Chevy...I've loved this song from the get go, and I can still hit all the notes. Hah!

  • Well, rampart331, if you can still hit all of the notes, then you must be a female and at 58 or 59 years old, that is still impressive.

Oh and by the way, I also envy you that you got to drive a new Chevy Impala in '65, whereas I had to wait till 1968 until I could afford a '63 Impala.

  • @urdivine Truth b told, the car was mom's, and it was the only kind of thrill I got at that age. Still, what a thrill it was! Also, I confess that to reach the hi notes, someone has to b pinching me pretty hard. LOL!

  • @urdivine 63 impalas were the coolest!!!!

  • I agree! How could anyone limit themselves to just one genre of music?

  • What year is this done in? ANYONE know besides the kid? Just asking. Thanks.

  • The summer of 1965. Read my comment below for more details.

  • one of my faves so many memories

  • What a truly beautiful love song!

  • great video what a voice

  • What an awesome vid. Thanks!

  • Thank you Mel - what a sweet voice - powerful - so intense - so classy - you KNOW how to sing a song!!!!!!

  • i know i love this song what a voice he has i want to sing this song in my weding this fall WOW they just don't make music like this no more

  • Smooth singing at its FINEST! Absolutely beautiful.

  • Lord I was a little thing and it was song that made me believe in real love one day. This is love Mel is still the great and sounds as good today as yesterday.Aces to you for the posting.

  • He sounds as good today as he did when he recorded it. My all time favorite from a really nice guy.

  • Total Class! When did we go from beautiful love songs filled with emotion and melodies such as this one, which could give you absolute goosebumps, to the trash we have today filled with gutter language and describing what used to be something beautiful, like nothing more

than bodily functions. Mel Carter's version

    has always been my favorite.

  • I couldn't agree with you more! This song is one of my all time favorites and the goosebumps are there every time I hear it. The trash they make today should be trashed.

  • @gabbydeb Yes, I agree!!! Music was great back in the old days!!!! Now days, most music is garbage!!!

  • @gabbydeb My band does this song close as can be to the original, we play blues, R&B, 60's-80's rock, The women go wild for this one each night. But no one does it like Mel Carter

  • @gabbydeb so very true.

  • @gabbydeb Yes, I agree 100%! This was done when the Black Singers all made beautiful Music . They were all such great Performers, Songwriters, Singers back then! Not the crap that is made nowdays , the so-called RAP & Hip-Hop ! That's NOT Music when compared to what was done when this beautiful song was recorded!

  • @BearStar1 you are correct...but it doesn't have anything to do with being black...all popular music is crap these days....crap music doesn't seem to discriminate

  • @dundura123 What I was trying to say was that the Black Singers back then did Real Music, unlike the Black Performers these days that only know how to make irritating booming bass Rap NOISE, which is NOT Music when compared to what the Black Singers & Performers during the Doo-wop, Motown era, R&B, of the 50's,60's,70's & 80's!

  • @BearStar1 That a broad brush. Have you heard of Chrisette Michele, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Trey Songz, Tyrese, Common, Maxwell, Anthony Hamilton, Musiq Soulchild, Kenny Lattimore, etc.? They are all black singers. Just because you hate rap made by blacks doesn't mean that all black singers rap. They're called rappers, not singers. ;) But, enoough. Mel Carter ROCKS. He's done national PBS appearances on their music compilation programs. That's how I discovered him.

  • @ns0710 I Dislike RAP period, ill-regardlesss of WHO does IT or the color of their skin! And I'll say it again, the Black R&B Singers, and the Motown Singers made some GREAT Music in their day & era of which I wish was still being done these days, of which don't even compare to what the singers that you have mentioned! The Black singers then all had their own style and no two sounded the same, whereas EVERYONE now days all sound the same.

  • @ns0710 - All of the people you mentioned can really sing. I think what BearStar is pointing out is that the songs are inferior, in most cases. I think the music industry has bought into too many fads, and has failed to invest in great songwriters. These artists are often -- but not always -- hanstrung by this, which is really unfortunate.

  • @gabbydeb Right on gabby! I feel just like you do! We live in a uninspired, unromantic and poisonous society! I so wish I could say differently!

  • @gabbydeb Amen to that.

  • @gabbydeb

I know you wrote this a year ago but I just had to tell you that I totally agree with you one hundred percent! You said it so perfectly!!!!! I'm just glad I'm old enough to appreciate the music we had compared to the noise today - filled with ugliness.

  • @gabbydeb .......you said it.

  • kiss me kiss me

  • this is definitely one of my top 5 of all time ,thanx

  • I LOVE this song. I had the album when I was in college. Thanks for sharing!!

  • The greatest love song of my time.

  • amen

  • The told me be sensible with your new love don't be fooled thinking this is the last you'll find but they never stood in the dark with you love when you take me in your arms and drive me slowly out of my mind...

You can take any lyrics from this day forward and I am willing to bet nothing is as romantic as that!

  • I love Me!

  • I Luv Him He us awesome!!!!!!!

  • I love you Mel. I know you're only singing to me...........

  • oh wow, i want this as my wedding song too.. been wanting it for years.. only problem he hasnt proposed to me tough hahaha xxx i love Mel
