  • Dude u couldve gotten sponsored!!

  • Having an 80s setup, doing tricks on those boards are hard to trick on (heavy as hell!). I grew up on today's modern boards, but I enjoy riding old school decks so much more. I like your style!

  • Excellent video, I admire the style and tricks that time, I skated in the years 1985 to 1990 and returned in 2007.

Still prefer the old deck school.Tenho a very old style.

  • not a single kickflip yet many tre's haha sweet

  • Hey can you send me a copy of this video? I would like to put some killer back ground music to it and re-publish it.

  • Busting out lips like they're nothing

  • you should have submitted this to Veriflex, they would have sponsored you.

  • @hatsdontfit Sweet thats a nice looking board! I want the green vision gator old school deck, the reissue vision boards are so nice! How much are you paying for yours and what site are you getting it off?

  • @DayEnder616 The kid did a "tre flip" in the video3 times. You're a moron, a lot of tricks were invented way back then and are still used today.

  • Yea, it was exactly the time when I started to skate as an 8 years old boy. We didn t know anything about skateboarding in our small village in Germany, where we grew up. Just Ollies and 180s - hahaha. Would have been great to have guys like you in town!!! You were rocking in this time - wow!!!

  • you really like lipslides dont you? haha. you're great! especially for the time

  • yes you are good

  • cops are idiots

  • love the 360 shoves / impossibles and yes u should have DEFIANTLY got sponsored back then.

  • god damn your basement was amazing lol. and great spots. too bad you didnt get sponsored and go pro or something, you seemed good enough.

  • Dude this video is the shit. I want to start skating again. My friends and I used to make tapes like this all the time with the big huge VHS camcorder. This guy could have been sponsored maybe for a local team but there was a lot of guys that were this good or better. I started really skating a lot around 1990 and my friends were into doing ollie impossible like it was nothing and triple kickflips.

  • I was skating this year, I was better at mini ramp then street but I was doing big hand rails an flips in 89

  • yo do you still skate

  • I love that era of skateboarding.

  • Wow much better than I was at twelve! This is right when I started skating,Airwalk shoes and Hstreet videos!

  • Woah, seeing a vid with virtually no kickflips is weird...but still,i didn't know they wher doing handrails bigger than like 3 or 4 back then...good job,and do u still skate?

  • Wow, seeing old home videos is so nostalgic, even though I don't know this guy and probably live on the other side of the country. Good stuff. You were much better than me back then (though, I didn't really start until late 1990, having just cruised for five years). As was pointed out, going faster might have made a difference in sponsorship, especially back then. But he certainly had enough tricks in his bag.

  • rodney invented nollie 3 flips in 92' fyi dude

  • yeah!!!

  • yeah! lahti showed me this video 13 years ago, I was in awe. talula, oshkosh, rotation station, the island, the alley, the gallery, flatley park. yes you would have been pro if youtube was around then. & 3flips were invented in 89' kids dont understand progression, this was a legite sponsore me video, great memories! -Matt from the new Surfin' Bird 114 s. broadway. Ben should have been sponsored! he's on the new surfin' bird team if he wants!

  • yeah!

  • dude most of that stuff is still impressive to this day!!! awseome vid

  • You still ride? I have a shit ton of oldschool decks NOS and used, if you looking for what you used to ride hit me up.

  • Nice vid ben! I like that concreate rail. Used to have one just like it miss my chop stix. Rock on man hope your still skating.

  • check my channel for some classic 80s skate rock !!!

  • Great vid brings me back

    reminds me

  • that was awesome. Im 17 and im big into old school skating. This vid gives me some inspiration. To all skaters out there.....Skate On! P>S> u could have been sponsored.

  • you could never be sponsored, almost gets hit by cutlass at 0:46

  • dude, your skills were good. I started probably around that time 88-89 when I was in 7th grade....I still push around the park with my sons...but man this vid brings back some memories. I couldn't imagine trying to skate one of those boards now though.....I got used to the new shapes by the time the mid 90's rolled around. good stuff man!!!!

  • You were great!! I love ''amazing feet'' trick!! How is it called?

  • Yeah I think you could have gotten sponsered. Post a video of your self today. I think I might have a spot on a team for you. But I'll check with my associates.

  • u still skaten today?

  • cool video dude u defently have skills i remember that sma shirt u had on i had one of those and you have bridge bolts to noturios for snapping what ever happened to them

  • Sweet. Where did you grow up? I like the train in the beginning.... Good steady dedication to the craft. Props.

  • You were so good, you could have maybe made it to H-Street.

  • dude that cop look's and sounds like mr. layhe

  • definately rad, tricks are really gnar

  • That was a good watch, really good for that time

    You still skate?

  • i just gotta say this fool is better than most skaters now ahaha fuck dude props, respect all that shit to you!

  • hey whatchinmewatchu, its from the 80's there bearings werent neerely as fast. Also there boards were big and heavy, and the cameras were tape, not digital, so fish eye was out of the quesion back than. so stfu and think about what era that is.

  • Or a pressure flip/ollie impossible?

  • dude was that a 360 flip in the basement?

  • jk you should of got sponsered

  • i meen your decent?

  • question is...do you still ride?

  • no sponsorship, sorry. decent skating bad video and camera work made it look like you were riding slow, which u were kinda. also who you gonna convice to buy a product in wisconsin? uless you rode at the turf companies would not care how good u are cause there is no one to market to there. its too cold. if you sent it around you should have atleast got some free goodies tho. i did back in the day when i made my video about this time.

  • hey whatchinmewatchu, there are alot of skateboarders in wisconsin, even where i am (beloit). i agree with what JDrockerDUDE said. besides skateboarding isn't all about sponsorships.

PS: Wisconsin isn't always cold. It's gotten to 150 degrees here.

  • good for an old school skater

  • Hell yeah bro!! Backside lipslides and handrails in 89!! Great tech tricks too, railslide to grinds, love it!! Good video from the year I started!! Still skate??

  • HA!! those where the days....was this in Wisconsin? A couple of those spots look like ones I hit out there around '91.....

  • 360 ollies and nice lipslides, good shit for 89.......should have gone to santa monica?

  • 0:33 what would u call this 180 boardslide maybe?

  • Great ben!

  • your grinds are so oldschool and i love it!

  • you should have gone pro

  • yeah that was really good

    7:11 was awesome

    and also the rest

    :D

  • Thanks for posting this vid. Brought me back to 1989. Awesome 360 ollie and early hand rails.

  • i think this is when skateboarding was starting to go street and turn hip hop instead of punk

  • Nice skating. My last year of skating was 1990 when I broke my ankle.

  • you should have gone pro

  • nice shuv its and oh my god 5:09 that was the nicest 360 flip i have ever seen (guess)

  • tht cop soundz canadian

  • Those were some sweet moves. You definitely could have got sponsored.

  • I remember you from Green Bay. There were so many of us that ripped GB before you. I remember skating your basement. You couldn't skate vert at all though. I never once saw you at Boldt's ramp or anywhere vert oriented. None of us from GB were ever good enough to be sponsored in those days.

  • I think you have me confused with Brian Emmers. That is his basement in the video. I am from Appleton. Didn't really skate much in G.B. actually...

  • pawäääz alda

  • deffo gud gud

  • maybe not sponsored but you had some nice tricks man !
