I'm really interested in the harness you have, and I'm thinking about making one of my own, I've bought a harness which I intend to use the leash from to make it, but if I could get some more pictures of it, while on, and maybe some off, as well as some basic measures I'd be extremely happy, my mail's mickwald@hotmail.com Thanks :)
My baby cockatiel was attacked and rejected too by his parents so I took him in and took care of him. Im happy you love birds and this video was SO CUTE! <3 5 stars :)
my sister found an abandoned parakeet in her backyard but then he died after a few months :( but she still has her cockatiel, she's 9 years old now, it's kind of scary to think about that but she still looks and acts the same as when she was a baby :)
this vid was like a blast for the past for me, since that's exactly what my cockatiel coco looked like while she was growing up with her brother and sister who sadly have flown away, but i pray that coco will stay with me for many years to come
omg!!! That bird is soo pretty ive seen none like it :D Its looks like a pearl cockiteil but the feathers are yellow so maybe a cinimen uh cinomen :/ i can niether say nor spell it right
I am so thankful for people like you who care so much for our feathered brethren. I have a budgie who was rejected by his mother. She tore out some wing feathers that never grew back. He my my joy.
my pair had chicks may 11-13 theyre all girls and one of them is just like your baby. the other two are normal grey females. how old is your pearl in 1:04?
I have a small Cockatiel too, some months old. Do you have any tip? He's right now pretty angry and so on, but maybe that's because he's not secure in his new home..? I'm going to give it a couple of days then try to give him snacks and so on, right now he's crazy about them so I can't give it to him because he's insacure about the situation :( But he'll come! :)
What a lovely comment, thankyou so much Mommy7532! I always say I will never own a bird because you cant 'own' a creature born to be wild, but they sure do own me, heart, body and soul!
@AnnieBirdy you know, this was really nice.my favorite picture was the "What's for pudding" picture because he looks sooooo cute! thank you for saving that tiels life!
I was wondering what happened to his sister that looked like it was going to be a Lutino? My son has a Lutino, Cosmo, and she is the sweeeeetest thing I've ever seen. Tiels truly ROCK!!!! Check out my channel, my pair just had three and I'm probably going to keep them all even though a local store wants me to sell them to her. . .;)~
Hi Crazy4amazons, sadly the other little baby, Pickle, didnt make it. her diverticulum muscle never functioned properly, and despite 5 weeks of day and night intensive care from myself, and specialist treatment of a highly experienced avian vet, she lost the battle. Absolutely broke my heart. If you go to my website and click on the link 'the tragedy of Pickle' it will take you to her long hard battle on Mytoos. You can also see Cinders story there!
This is such a lovely video! I have 2 cockatiels myself and only one is friendly the other one isn't as friendly and when I got him he was in poor shape he had alot of bare spots that needed to be regrowed and now he looks like a handsome bird but he only trusts me as I'm the only one that's able to pet his little head and give him a kiss on the head, the sweet one loves doing cute things to get attention but she plays with me as well. That bird you showed is really pretty. :)
Thankyou Dragonesa, its wonderful to read that you took in one of the ''less pretty'' (grrr I hate that!) birds and loved him for what he was. Cockatiels are such lovely birds, so incredibly sweet!
Your welcome, now I'll be returning home from vacation this week so I'm really excited about seeing my cockatiels again after 6 months, I miss them alot! My mom has taken care of them while I'm away and they like her too but they like me more for some reason, so soon I'll be able to post a video of my birds playing once I'm home. :) I can't wait! :)
Annie, I just wanna say, that even God himself should be pleased by what you are doing to help these little tiels. I have 2 of them myself. I love them dearly, as you do yours. I also wanna say Thank You for posting all of your wonderful vids!
Hi Dakidmark, dont worry, I am absolutely against the breeding of birds when there are thousands upon thousands of them sitting in sanctuaries desperately awaiting a second/thirdfourth chance to be loved for what they are, birds, wild creatures. I only ever rescue. I want to help ease the problem, never add to it.
Do you live in the UK? I live in Berkshire and I want to find a place like that ^-^ You always seem to get Amazons up for giving away :( I think its because their owners are ignorant and haven't read into how their behavior changes when they reach maturaty :(
Hi mmmmHam, how lovely to meet you! yes, i do live in the UK. the most common PUBLICISED 'give away# birds tend to be the larger species, BUT, sanctuaries are OVERUN with the tinies like budgies, finches and tiels. If you want to know more about rescue, please PM me, there is much I can tell you (or anybody!) but there just isnt enough room in the comments field. Your concern warms my heart!
Hi MIXEDBO! Thankyou for responding! What happened to your last 'tiel? If its too painful to repeat, I fully understand my friend. Would you consider a little rescue tiel? They can and will give you all the love in your heart back tenfold :-)
Aww Im so sorry to hear that martindeo, its heartbreaking when you lose a bird, they seem to souch your very soul. Do you know how or why he/she died? Sometimes, knowing how or why can teach us so much.
I hope you are feeling a bit better now, I am sorry about your loss.
Annie, you are such a special person. What a great job, and those are lovely pictures. Miss Serena Roberts couldn't have picked a better person. Big time HUGS to you!
Barb, you say the kindest things, thankyou!!! I was scared to death when I first started handrearing, as it really wasnt my bag, but TG little Chutney flourished!!!
Hi, the blue thing is an avian harness. Its basically the bird version of a collar and lead for a dog, so you can take the bird outside safely. The harness secures gently around the birds back, and chest. The one in the picture was far too big for little Chutney, but I used to just drape it over him to get him used to the feel of it. You attach a very lightweight 'lead' to the harness so the bird cannot fly off and get lost when outside. They do not hurt the bird at all if fitted correctly.
Hi Phantomisle, nice to hear from you again! Well done with the baby, its a wonderful feeling when you save a life isnt it. You will have many years of love and joy from little Fabian. (I love the name!)
Thankyou Satifan, and yes, they dont stay babies for long do they! Life is really quite a miracle if treated right, isnt it!
you are just a sweet person. i have done all sorts of things like this too. but i raised a cockatiel from his parents and the parents are mine too! the cockatiel is now gonna be 6 months on june 8th!
