  • Thanks for posting. All they have to say about the magnificent opera La Forza del destino is that it was cold in St. Petersburg and some people booed.

We hear the famous leit motif with the noise of sleds!!! Of course we don't get to hear the superb "Invano Alvaro" duet, worse, they cut it and repeat the cue "non fu disonorata, Ve lo giura un sacerdote" twice, mixed with noises!!!

  • Oh my freakin god!!!

I didn't know this existed awsome

    where can i find this?

  • @ezev8logos ezev8logos, your enthusiasm might even compel me to post a few more episodes of this miniseries, though I haven't posted since 2008. Aida anyone?

  • @patrick96321 Please post more!!!

verdi is one of the best composers in history.

And it is hard to find this on dvd

I would be very grateful if you post more

  • It's a magnificent video production (but I hate to see Verdi grow old at the end). Where can you find it? Try amazon. Look for "Life of Verdi". It's on DVD, produced by Kultur. Currently it's $48 new or $28 used. I saw it on PBS when it came out originally. Loved it. I'll post more when I can...

  • One can understand why the public found the music old-fashioned. Alvaro didn't do much justice to it, with his wailing performance.

  • "The Life of Verdi"

    starring Ronald Pickup.

Recently elected to the boisterous first Italian parliament, Verdi is commissioned to travel to Russia to write La Forza del Destino.

    This 10-1/2 hour miniseries

    is available on Kultur DVD.
