@sk30l youre crazy....curb is at least as good as seinfeld if not better....if it was as broadly watched as seinfeld it'd be an even bigger hit than it already is.
I remember seeing this episode a long time ago, but I didn't know who John Cheever was back then. I'm studying his work now in my American Lit class. Good stuff!
I almost choked on a piece of bread watching this... I guess that's what you get when you want to watch a Seinfeld bit and eat a sandwich at the same time.
"The Cheever Letters" was probably one of the most underrated epsiodes from "Seinfeld". George and Jerry bolting out of there after Susans dad comes out is classic. If anyone has the ending to this episode, I would greatly appreciate it if you can upload it. It is one of the best ever. Thanks in advance!
I did a paper on John Cheever and he wasn't outwardly gay but he did have a 'more than normal' relationship with his brother and a younger man later on. Creepy! But his story The Swimmer is really good!
"Dear Henry, last night with you was bliss. I fear my orgasm has left me a cripple. I don't know how I shall ever get back to work. I love you madly, John.
"The Cheever Letters" is a very underrated episode. I think it gets overshadowed by the preceding episode, "The Bubble Boy," but it really is comedic genius...just like just about every "Seinfeld" episode. Thanks for posting the clip.
For some reason, Susan's mother's look at 2:16 always cracks me up.

In his lifetime he was a closeted bisexual, according to his own journals. He may have had an incestuous relationship with his brother.
Reading his story collection now. Excellent stuff.
