There's a lot more going on with an 03 Cobra vs. your average mustang such as independent rear suspension, bigger brakes, motor built like a tank with 32 valve heads , supercharged from factory, 6 speed transmission etc.
Personally I'd take a 2003 Cobra over a 2010 Camaro SS any day, I'm not a fan of the new Camaro body style.

@2011CamaroLT Its 35,000 for a modern brand new 412+HP sporty car that can do 0-60 in 4.6 sec, thats a great price. And with a few mods it can easily run 11's .And pretty sure this 2010 SS and a cobra with under 5000 miles would be around the same prince range.

@2011CamaroLT true, but you can get a 5.0 v8 to 500+ with less then $5000. A kenne bell for a cobra which is worth around $4000 for 2.5L Supercharger can get you too 520 I believe. Plus, just set the v8 to a a pleasure car and insurance wont be that much. I wouldnt plan on making a v8 a daily driver anyway. Just for going out or going to the track. Theres no other use for it really.

The HPE550 and HPE650 are an aftermarket contribution (hennessey) to the Camaro. Put the same money into a GT500 and any HPE550 or HPE650 will get owned. Thats like saying Hennessey's twin turbo Ford GT is the king of everyone factory or not. As of now a 5.0L mustang owns a base camaro and a GT500 def. owns the ss stock for stock. As far as your ZR1 comparison to a mustang its a sports car to a pony car. And that new Boss LS does a fine job against it with only 444hp and LSA.
@The2001cobra i know its after market, but its the same hp numbers for just a little more money on the camaro side. but whena camaro with 650 beats a supersnake with 750, thats a sighn that the live axel needs to go. the boss is a good car, BASE Z06 quick, but not ZR1 quick. ZR1 quick is like lambos and fearrris. the only exotic car the boss can beat is the R8. wich is still impressive dont get me wrong, but the ZR1 is a whole nother category, cant even compare it to pony cars.
I think that LSA is comin back and Ford is showin everyone its cheaper and how it can be tuned for an intended race aplication Drag/Road race look at the FR500's from ford all LSA fr500cj 1000+hp 9.20 lower drag car trapping 150+ or a FR500gt4, FR500c etc. all with A LSA winning cups all over the place. IRS for track use are so tight that their rebound rates resemble that of a tuned LSA. Learn to use a LSA and its cheaper more reliable and just as efficient as fords proving.
The IRS was one of the biggest down falls of the 03 04 cobras.Yes as shipped from a factory a cobra suspension was better than an GT but modded LSA GT's whooped the shit outta modded 03 04 cobras track and drag.Also Gotta remembler ZR1's,GTR's,Cobras,HPE series cars all forced inducted.Take them on a 15 lap hot race being pushed to limits can you say heat soaked pit stop for an hour or more thats another Boss advantage since its NA.More than 2 laps place money on a Boss or Z06.
Please don't tell me your looking at the numbers from M+T comparison. Nice and all but look at the different positioning they put the tires on the dyno that shelby was almost off the roller! The only accurate dyno from that video was that challenger it was set up neutral on the dyno given they knew how to correct tire pressure. Shelby drivetrain loss 120hp Camaro was only 38hp impossible unless HSE and dyno positioning helped. Shelby needs new meats in the rear.
@The2001cobra new tires and a new axel, and the GT500 will be back in the race. i hope the new GT500 will be much better on putting power down. i know the live axel wont show up till 2014, but reguardless, they can fine tune and adjust so they can get better accleration times.
@SirProStatus The funny thing is the hpe 650 camaro and 550 are only 53rwhp apart. I think they are just understating them to beat the shelbys.Put a nice 325mm tire on the supersnake and run hard. Pretty sure they said the 650 had 305 compared to the SS's 285. That helps alot. The 650 only ran .1seconds and 1.3 mph faster than the suepsnake. BTW Shelby has 800hp option now.

The Zr1 has the fastest at 1.36 seconds. 44K car compared to a what 112K car for 4 seconds??? Put me in that Zr1 and a modest racer in the Boss LS would whop me. The only cars that beat that Boss on LS was ZR1, carbon ZO6, Porshes 997 series cars and the R8 actually beat it also. That boss beat out the Audi 4.2 not the v10, it beat the M3 the GTR AMG's SLS and the ZO6. Not by alot but enough to rank it in the top 10, and the top nine didn't beat it by much and it knocked all these down a notch for only 44K none of these cars even come close! For racing purposes which is why Id buy any of these anyway!

I usually have a big smile on my face when i floor the 105hp tin can beside someone in a corvette just because its funny. It also saves a ton on gas when I just want to drive around for no reason. Also, the civic gets a ton more looks and the girls around here tend to smile more in it, while in the lincoln they seem scared when I WOT.

@rockstardrinker95 Well 90% of those mustangs you see are the crappy V6 models and the rest are GTs, I rarely see Cobra's.
There's a lot more going on with an 03 Cobra vs. your average mustang such as independent rear suspension, bigger brakes, motor built like a tank with 32 valve heads , supercharged from factory, 6 speed transmission etc.
Personally I'd take a 2003 Cobra over a 2010 Camaro SS any day, I'm not a fan of the new Camaro body style.

@2011CamaroLT true, but you can get a 5.0 v8 to 500+ with less then $5000. A kenne bell for a cobra which is worth around $4000 for 2.5L Supercharger can get you too 520 I believe. Plus, just set the v8 to a a pleasure car and insurance wont be that much. I wouldnt plan on making a v8 a daily driver anyway. Just for going out or going to the track. Theres no other use for it really.

The HPE550 and HPE650 are an aftermarket contribution (hennessey) to the Camaro. Put the same money into a GT500 and any HPE550 or HPE650 will get owned. Thats like saying Hennessey's twin turbo Ford GT is the king of everyone factory or not. As of now a 5.0L mustang owns a base camaro and a GT500 def. owns the ss stock for stock. As far as your ZR1 comparison to a mustang its a sports car to a pony car. And that new Boss LS does a fine job against it with only 444hp and LSA.

ZR1 quick is like lambos and fearrris. the only exotic car the boss can beat is the R8. wich is still impressive dont get me wrong, but the ZR1 is a whole nother category, cant even compare it to pony cars.

I think that LSA is comin back and Ford is showin everyone its cheaper and how it can be tuned for an intended race aplication Drag/Road race look at the FR500's from ford all LSA fr500cj 1000+hp 9.20 lower drag car trapping 150+ or a FR500gt4, FR500c etc. all with A LSA winning cups all over the place. IRS for track use are so tight that their rebound rates resemble that of a tuned LSA. Learn to use a LSA and its cheaper more reliable and just as efficient as fords proving.

The IRS was one of the biggest down falls of the 03 04 cobras.Yes as shipped from a factory a cobra suspension was better than an GT but modded LSA GT's whooped the shit outta modded 03 04 cobras track and drag.Also Gotta remembler ZR1's,GTR's,Cobras,HPE series cars all forced inducted.Take them on a 15 lap hot race being pushed to limits can you say heat soaked pit stop for an hour or more thats another Boss advantage since its NA.More than 2 laps place money on a Boss or Z06.

Please don't tell me your looking at the numbers from M+T comparison. Nice and all but look at the different positioning they put the tires on the dyno that shelby was almost off the roller! The only accurate dyno from that video was that challenger it was set up neutral on the dyno given they knew how to correct tire pressure. Shelby drivetrain loss 120hp Camaro was only 38hp impossible unless HSE and dyno positioning helped. Shelby needs new meats in the rear.

@SirProStatus The funny thing is the hpe 650 camaro and 550 are only 53rwhp apart. I think they are just understating them to beat the shelbys.Put a nice 325mm tire on the supersnake and run hard. Pretty sure they said the 650 had 305 compared to the SS's 285. That helps alot. The 650 only ran .1seconds and 1.3 mph faster than the suepsnake. BTW Shelby has 800hp option now.

@The2001cobra i love ford too i want a 07' GT500. but cars like the corvette, you just cant beat. a ZR1 is quicker then most supercars. and most supercars are double, tripple or even quadruple the price. its way insane. but im hoping the 2013 GT500 is as good as they say it is gonna be. 5.8L supercharged between 600-650. and if it doesent run with the corvette, make a new GT and put that engine in it and maybe more HP, and then ford will be dominating the supercar world.

Totally agree about that vette. Just stating that the Ford Boss LS trapped a 1.40 flat time at leguna seca. The Zr1 has the fastest at 1.36 seconds. 44K car compared to a what 112K car for 4 seconds??? Put me in that Zr1 and a modest racer in the Boss LS would whop me. The only cars that beat that Boss on LS was ZR1, carbon ZO6, Porshes 997 series cars and the R8 actually beat it also. A 4s seperat the listed cars as for the average racer itll be up to his her driving

That boss beat out the Audi 4.2 not the v10, it beat the M3 the GTR AMG's SLS and the ZO6. Not by alot but enough to rank it in the top 10, and the top nine didn't beat it by much and it knocked all these down a notch for only 44K none of these cars even come close! For racing purposes which is why Id buy any of these anyway!

@veritech102 i have a mark viii and a civic, while the civic is slow as heck it is more fun to drive around. I usually have a big smile on my face when i floor the 105hp tin can beside someone in a corvette just because its funny. It also saves a ton on gas when I just want to drive around for no reason. Also, the civic gets a ton more looks and the girls around here tend to smile more in it, while in the lincoln they seem scared when I WOT.

@veritech102 I totally agree man. I love all American Muscle cars. I'm a Ford guy as well. I have 99 GT SOHC. I like to see videos like this on youtube. I also like to see Muscle Cars kicking the shit out of Imports with useless wings.
