@ButlerLewis You want to hear a story I was in Kansas City Missouri it was my Dad and I and my Cousin,My Dad took to my Cousin and I to a Royals Game,Cal Ripken was signing Autographs after the game.So we went up there and he said I'm done but guess what happened I got to shake his hand in person and he said have a great day and thanks for coming to see me play today I was only 6...
After many years at age 25, I finally accomplished my childhood dream of getting Cal Ripken's autograph. He personally signed a picture for me. He was my childhood hero and my favorite baseball player. Thanks to an old childhood friend of mine who now works for Cal Ripken, I was able to get his autograph. I've seen Cal play in Baltimore, at Miluakee's old stadium, and in Seattle. I came so close to getting his autograph a couple of times, and now I finally have it.
Be4 I moved to California, I lived on his street...I will tell you the street if you wanna see it on GoogleMaps. Just send me a message on my homepage.

I'm a die hard Yankee fan and absolutely love this guy. His talents are undeniable. He played with heart, talent and the love of the game. He was the anti-cry baby. One of the classiest players to ever pick up a bat as well. He also was the beginning of the big Shortstop. 431 hr's lifetime. Without Cal there would be no A-Rods and no Jeters.
ur a yankee fan? lmao u should be embarrased man... one of the sadest sotries in sports the yankees...givin out free money for 90 wins and a playoff choke every year...diamondbacks,angels,marlins,red sox, angels again,tigers..sad enough they may not choke this year cause they wont even get to the playoffs...fire brian cashman pleaseeeeeeeeeee
26 world series victories is jus terrible. Derek Jeter having 4 rings. thats awful. But I must ask, what the hell does this have to do with Cal Ripken the Ironman?
Yeah. What you said about Ripken, that's all true. Other baseball stars such as Jeter, Rodriguez, Garciaparra, and Tejada are seen to be a part of Ripken's legacy.
@310stanger I'm a die hard Yankee fan as well, couldn't agree more. Fortunately, I lived in Baltimore for six years as a child and got to see him play; unfortunately, I wasn't a little bit older to see him in his prime and to watch him play longer. Footage like this gives me the chills...I love looking at all of my old baseball cards I collected of him over the years; they don't make ballplayers like this anymore.
HAPPY 51ST BIRTHDAY, CAL RIPKEN JR., AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE!!!

The Orioles need Ripken to be the owner. He would be better than Peter Angelos.
irishfan4life23 8 months ago 5
@irishfan4life23 Yes, definitely, because baseball lost its meaning when Ripken is no longer there. We want and need Ripken now more than ever.
BRING BACK CAL!

@littledebbie187 Defaintly it would be good for Baltimore and baseball.
irishfan4life23 8 months ago
@irishfan4life23 More than that, it would be grand. Baltimore needs to get baseball and other sports back into prominence like it once had.

I miss the Iron Man, the O's were so good in the 90s when they had him, Brady Anderson and Mike Mussina.

I don't know why. I hardly even know who he is, but for some reason, I find this commercial quite charming.
His daughter looks so much like him.
FlamingBat 3 years ago 2
That's because this commercial IS charming - and touching, too, hitting just the right notes at the end of an AMAZING career.
By the way: the young lady who plays Cal Ripken's daughter is the actress Hallee Hirsh. She DOES look a lot like him, doesn't she?
jmccracken1963 3 years ago
Why didn't they use his real daughter? She only had about seven words.
FlamingBat 3 years ago
No that is not Hallee Hirsh. It's Rachel Ripken, his real daughter.
jediwise 3 years ago
Hirsh is only 5' 5", Cal is 6' 5". Rachel is tall like her parents.
