there are two different types of tanks Primary tanks : Pally,dk,warrior, and druid
then there are secondary tanks who used to be able to tank and still could now that reforging is out :Mage,Rogue,Shaman,Warlock of course those secondary tanks usually have to be stacking resiliance and have massive avoidance
@TheKraziak Resilence doesn't mean diddly in PVE. You can be lvl 80 and have 1400+ resilence (Resil cap then I BELIEVE) but you'll still get crit hitted. People use to do this to mount run Heroics during Burning Crucade. That's LONG been changed. Heck with my PVP Enhancement gear, I have like a 22% chance or not getting crit hitted abut I STILL get crit hitted in both PVP & PVE.
tbh a mage could tank if was able to keep aggro because a well geared mage in icc with the 30% buff has like 40k hp maybe more and marrowgar will not hit that hard and the healers will bring him right back up
Hey Shari are there any changes to us since Cata? I haven't noticed besides using Rockbiter (+30% threat and 5% Shield block or something like that). So far SS/FS seem to work with Fire NOva on Magma totem. I mean we get near limitless mana now and Shamanistic Rage cleanes us.
also all the people who are bad mouthing their dps, this is a few weeks after the first patch for icc, so gear is from toc and maybe uldaur, they dont have armor the bought with justice points in the last week of wotlk so sshh ignorant people

@SexBombEOL you can program boss fights... alot of people make there own servers just to make new boss fights... L2Script and its not that bad. I've made marrowgar throw fireballs everyonce in a while, its pretty fun when you get used to it

There are a bunch of people on here saying he's not tanking. Obviously they don't know what a tank does. A tank takes all the hits so the rest of the raid doesn't fail. This shaman is a tank during this boss fight because he is taking the cleave. For this specific fight, threat doesn't matter to be a tank unless you are the MT.
@whabba92 It's my understanding that you need 2 tanks to stand in front of Marrowgar to split the damage of cleave, that would explain why he's standing next to the MT. Plus, he never claimed to MT Marrowgar, but he did on the trash which is pretty good for a shammy.
@whabba92 if you watch the video carefully you'll see he's not using frostshock on marrowgar instead he's using earth shock this is because he knows he doesn't need high threat to take the Saber Lashes he just has to stand in the way, thus he's trying to do as much dps as possible while staying in his tanking gear and spec so he can live through the lashes
just a quick question: is the focus/cameraman of the video supposed to be the tank? cuz the cameraman and the target of marrowgar are 2 different chars. the cameraman seems to hav full health all fight, while the tank is frequently going up and down. the tank looks like a pally, and omen seems to confirm this.
@torell95secto I'm not Sharicasmi but it depends on teh sistuation. AOE's get Stoneclaw (There's a glyph that aids us w/ a shield) or Strength of the Earth/Stoneskin (again preference here, I use Stoneskin to reduece damage some more) Searing for single/Magma for group, Windfury or Grounding depending on casting VS melee and water doesn't matter, HP I guess. But all shamen tanks are different, I'm still perfecting it myself. I'm on Turalyon as "Lotous"
@Bowpk619 Shaman tanks do not aim for Defense, we aim for Stamina, get Tank Banks, Necks, Rings & Trinkets, and if anything get dodge. We do however require very good heals so we don't get one shotted constantly.

@Nixxen Unfortunately not. Shaman Tanking is VERY difficult as we have difficulty grabbing aggro. Where as the tank classes have Taunts, shamen do not. Stoneclaw Totem taunts every so often but not when you exactly need it. I've done some Shaman Tanking as Enhancement. It's a lot of fun, but your healers will need to geared nicely and you'll need atleast one Hunter to use Misdirecting Shot on you.
@cloudx2266 YOu'd have to be geared like Shari to be given a chance. But beause we're not a plate wearing class or a class with a talent that'll make us uncrittable, we'll never be taken seriously for shaman tanking. I'll be making a shaman tank set, I got a few rings and trinkets so far, nothing fantastic.
@loopers22 Some PVP offres +Dodge or Parry. SOme PVP also offers more stamina than most if not all raid/tier gear offers. His has the bare minimal HP required for a tank just entering ICC. Nevertheless Shaman Tanking is fun. His defense as of 6/7/20 id 471,

Though I am thoroughly impressed with the ability of this shamans tanking, I have to point out that he didnt tank marrowgar. he just soaked damage which is still pretty cool and unexpected from shamans since WoTLK. Notice the targets target frame. The boss never targets Shari, which means he's just there to soak damage and most likely cant hold threat.. Anyway, I 'd like to see him MT this boss. Theres a ton of potential there. GG Shari, I think I might have to try that on my shammy alt.

@baardock People say the same thing when I tank Heroics and regs. I manage to hold aggro as long as I got a Hunter Misdirecting to me, just to help hold aggro. But it is funny when I pug a raid like ICC10 or TOC that people say "WTF? A shaman tank? LOL SCRUBMAN!" and show off that I can tank just fine when the other tanks are getting B-rezzed.

@RealGateGuardian I doubt I could find a link, but it was about 5-6 months ago. I think it was Ghostcrawler, but don't quote me on it. Basically he said Blizzard wasn't really planning to make Shaman tank, but they didn't 100% rule it out. So, it's POSSIBLE, but I don't know how probable.
@damnyourestupid Yeah I know what mean. It's tough to find some things. I do remember hearing that myself. When you said "5 or 6 months ago" I remember reading the same thing. They really don't WANT to make us a Tanking Class, but if you read the forums, we want to Tank/DPS/Healer class ourself like Paladins and Druids.
I mean if we continue to post videos like this on youtube and the forums and just keep bring up the fact we want to be Shaman tanks, I think they'll give in. I mean if the Alliance had the Winterspring Frost Saber, the Horde belly ached until they were given the Venonhide Raptor, and again people complained until they gave you the Bloodsail Admiral title when you did the two quests.
@RealGateGuardian Althought theres a small chance of it ever happening theres always a chance. I don't see it happening in Cataclysm, but any xpac after that. It might be a last ditch effort to keep people playing wow, but who knows. I agree, more videos will lead to actual tanking talents, or nerfs beyond reason lol, either way, it'll be affecting our gameplay somehow.
@damnyourestupid Indeed there is a chance, however small it may be, it's still a chance. It probably won't happen in Cata unless Sharicasmi uploads a video of him/her tanking Heroic Arthas (10 or 25, preferably 25) successfully without causing a wipe.
@RealGateGuardian Even if he tanks Arthas on Heroic, I still don't see it happening this expansion unless they've already got it in the works, which I doubt. If we keep pushing and show them that it wouldn't take a lot of change to merge ele or enhance with tanking talents, maybe we'll get there one day. We can always dream :D

@FosckoDmaw have you ever heard of an off tank? most likely no cuzz you are probably in a fail guild stuck in toc 10 man cuzz you use 1 tank. He is tanking several of the trash mobs which would own a dps if they tried to tank it and he is getting hit by saberlashed for 8ks every second or so. He is holding threat and staying alive. That is all that counts.

@torell95secto I'm not Sharicasmi but it depends on teh sistuation. AOE's get Stoneclaw (There's a glyph that aids us w/ a shield) or Strength of the Earth/Stoneskin (again preference here, I use Stoneskin to reduece damage some more) Searing for single/Magma for group, Windfury or Grounding depending on casting VS melee and water doesn't matter, HP I guess. But all shamen tanks are different, I'm still perfecting it myself. I'm on Turalyon as "Lotous"

@Bowpk619 Shaman tanks do not aim for Defense, we aim for Stamina, get Tank Banks, Necks, Rings & Trinkets, and if anything get dodge. We do however require very good heals so we don't get one shotted constantly.

@Bowpk619 right now any one can be def capped using resilience, but cat is changing crit chance reduction to crit dmg reduction, which is the ONLY thing stopping shamans from tanking in cat effectivly, with new spells and talent reductions n all

Are you even holding aggro? Becasue looking at what Marrowgar is targeting, its that pally in ur group...The Shammy is just stacked on the tank. Your tanking the Trash is all I see (which is still cool for shammy in ICC 10) but to say your tanking Marr dosnt really look like it.

@Nixxen Unfortunately not. Shaman Tanking is VERY difficult as we have difficulty grabbing aggro. Where as the tank classes have Taunts, shamen do not. Stoneclaw Totem taunts every so often but not when you exactly need it. I've done some Shaman Tanking as Enhancement. It's a lot of fun, but your healers will need to geared nicely and you'll need atleast one Hunter to use Misdirecting Shot on you.

@cloudx2266 YOu'd have to be geared like Shari to be given a chance. But beause we're not a plate wearing class or a class with a talent that'll make us uncrittable, we'll never be taken seriously for shaman tanking. I'll be making a shaman tank set, I got a few rings and trinkets so far, nothing fantastic.

@loopers22 Some PVP offres +Dodge or Parry. SOme PVP also offers more stamina than most if not all raid/tier gear offers. His has the bare minimal HP required for a tank just entering ICC. Nevertheless Shaman Tanking is fun. His defense as of 6/7/20 id 471,

it really dosnt matter if he's a shaman or a priest. u have enough threat on something with the right talents and enchants u can tank aswell.. imo this video is nothing special.. as u can see on his screen his hp was going down VERY fast, it was only the amazing healers in group keeping him alive. no real talent on the shamans behalf. really. if u want to flame this go ahead, but i can take dmg to help the main tank out, and im a holy paladin.. (RF FTW?)

Though I am thoroughly impressed with the ability of this shamans tanking, I have to point out that he didnt tank marrowgar. he just soaked damage which is still pretty cool and unexpected from shamans since WoTLK. Notice the targets target frame. The boss never targets Shari, which means he's just there to soak damage and most likely cant hold threat.. Anyway, I 'd like to see him MT this boss. Theres a ton of potential there. GG Shari, I think I might have to try that on my shammy alt.

If you look at the threat meter the pali has it the entire time. . . shaman is 6 or 7th on agro most the boss battle.

@baardock People say the same thing when I tank Heroics and regs. I manage to hold aggro as long as I got a Hunter Misdirecting to me, just to help hold aggro. But it is funny when I pug a raid like ICC10 or TOC that people say "WTF? A shaman tank? LOL SCRUBMAN!" and show off that I can tank just fine when the other tanks are getting B-rezzed.

Hey Shari, are you going to keep shaman tanking come Cata? Should be fun. I have a shaman myself, and I'm working on building up a tank set too. I mean I've done some shaman tanking in the past, I liked it. But I checked out your armory and I've got a LONG way to go.
Keep up the good work. HOPEFULLY one day Blizzard will give into to the fact we want to tank god damnit. Give us a anti-crit hit for PVE come cataclysm Blizzard.

@RealGateGuardian I doubt I could find a link, but it was about 5-6 months ago. I think it was Ghostcrawler, but don't quote me on it. Basically he said Blizzard wasn't really planning to make Shaman tank, but they didn't 100% rule it out. So, it's POSSIBLE, but I don't know how probable.

They really don't WANT to make us a Tanking Class, but if you read the forums, we want to Tank/DPS/Healer class ourself like Paladins and Druids.

I mean if we continue to post videos like this on youtube and the forums and just keep bring up the fact we want to be Shaman tanks, I think they'll give in. I mean if the Alliance had the Winterspring Frost Saber, the Horde belly ached until they were given the Venonhide Raptor, and again people complained until they gave you the Bloodsail Admiral title when you did the two quests.

@RealGateGuardian Althought theres a small chance of it ever happening theres always a chance. I don't see it happening in Cataclysm, but any xpac after that. It might be a last ditch effort to keep people playing wow, but who knows. I agree, more videos will lead to actual tanking talents, or nerfs beyond reason lol, either way, it'll be affecting our gameplay somehow.

@damnyourestupid Indeed there is a chance, however small it may be, it's still a chance. It probably won't happen in Cata unless Sharicasmi uploads a video of him/her tanking Heroic Arthas (10 or 25, preferably 25) successfully without causing a wipe.

@RealGateGuardian Even if he tanks Arthas on Heroic, I still don't see it happening this expansion unless they've already got it in the works, which I doubt. If we keep pushing and show them that it wouldn't take a lot of change to merge ele or enhance with tanking talents, maybe we'll get there one day. We can always dream :D

You're all looking at this in a wrong way. Telling him to do the fight another way, everything he does is wrong, his bla bla bla. It's a shaman tanking, I mean how cool isn't that? Long I've been waiting to see someone testing this out and he does it perfectly. Sure his not main tanking the boss. But assist tanking. And his tanking trash as well. @FosckoDmaw have you ever heard of an off tank? most likely no cuzz you are probably in a fail guild stuck in toc 10 man cuzz you use 1 tank. He is tanking several of the trash mobs which would own a dps if they tried to tank it and he is getting hit by saberlashed for 8ks every second or so. He is holding threat and staying alive. That is all that counts.
