This is not a Eurasian Tree Sparrow, it's a House Sparrow. You can tell by the small white spot the male has behind the eye, the gray crown, the lack of a black cheek/auricular patch, the black bib extending down into the breast, the gray (not rufous) flanks and the vocalizations.
Yes, I think you may be right...I'm not sure where you are, but they may be called Tree Sparrows there. It sure looks like a common House (or European) Sparrow to me, and sounds like one too. Can you point me to a side-by-side comparison of your Tree Sparrow and the House Sparrow? In the US, we have a American Tree Sparrow that is nothing like the House Sparrow.
In the US, the House Sparrow is considered a pest and is not protected. They randomly kill our songbirds and take over.
Hi, I assure you that this is a tree sparrow, the male has a smaller black bib than does the house sparrow, the female lacks the bib. As for them being a pest, no species is a pest, we have to live along side all living things.
