FIOS uses the existing caxial cable to each otlet in your home. it is not 100% fiber. Comcast speeds are soon to be un-matchable. LOYAL subswill get a huge break.

Sure FiOS uses the existing coax in the home for STBs, but that's plenty of bandwidth for uncompressed audio and video once inside the home. They can't do that on comcast because they'd have to use the coax line to everyone home, and than split it hundreds of times. Also, FiOS can use an ethernet directly to the router, no coax, and get speeds of up to 150MB down. New Actiontec has gigabit lan ports and wireless N ! EAT IT COMCAST

My FIOS install was top notch, this is typical Cable Co. Bullshit. Yeah, as if comcast's network will be able to SCALE like fiber-to-the-premise does. FIOS can go faster than gigabit with simple upgrades. Comcast will hit a wall at about 100 mbps.

Voice, Video and Data. Our video quality far exceeds com er I mean, Xfinity's (sounds like a hybrid automobile), Sorry to burst your bubble.

Unlike coax, it won't rust, it doesn't pick up electrical interference, it won't ground or short out, water won't affect it. Inside the house, it is coax, but outside along the poles and underground, it is fiber optic.

Fios is fiber from the (S.H.E.) super  head end to the ONT ( optical network terminal). This devise converts the light into its appropriated data, video and dial tone signals. The video is pure laser light and comes out of the ONT into a coax cable to the set top box. Fiber optics to the prem is in a league all by its self. Comcast video is not the same, trust me, I install Fios.

I have Verizon DSL and am satisfied with it....we'll see when Fios hits the area...I told Time Warner to take a hike and get their crap off my house....I now have an outdoor antenna with a digital converter unit for my 16 year old RCA 31" Home Theatre...picture still looks great.
