i find it so hard to believe that people can get these beautiful animals and then abuse or neglect them. They are the most amazing animals. Bless you for taking care of them and showing them love
Well done for your good work,I have rescued a great dane (Samson) in the past, they are the best of dogs and only want loving, treat them right and you will have a friend for life
I have had many danes a few were rescues from people who thought they would like a Great Dane but did not know how much these dogs need, Danes are lovely beautiful souls, I love my girls, and miss those that have passed, I pray people would learn about these and any breed of dog BEFORE they buy and research where they came from, and where possible a rescue is great, if you have the right home for a rescue dog, but always be aware of the dogs needs and your ability to meet those needs,
We already adopted a Great Dane (and a Labrador as well) and will always ADOPT dogs (and cats) from now on. No more puppies for us. It's a pleasure and a challenge to get poor, abandonned animals to 'bloom' again. Although our Dane came from a good place, I have to say. But she has definitely become so much happier over the months and years with us. Our lab was less lucky before he came to us... but he's now and old, snorring but happy and very loved dog-friend.
I've helped rescue a few great danes and mastiffs recently. The big dogs are hard to place since lots of people want the small, cute dogs. It's a shame for people to overlook the large breeds. They are soooo beautiful! The most recent danes, a mother and daughter, were so pretty. They took up my whole car!

@Prov1210 I want em! I've been looking for a giant breed to adopt, and the aggravating thing has been how much the nearby rescues want to charge for them. $500 and up! Rescues shoot themselves in the foot when they make it cheaper to buy an unpapered puppy than to adopt a middle-aged dog with probable health or behavioral problems. I realize that they're trying to cover their expenses, but if they want people to adopt an unknown quality, they need to make it financially attractive.
wonderful work, these dogs are the best they just want to please. I got one from a rescue best thing ive ever done. If there is a place to send donations please post it thank you for caring for these lovlies
omg this made me cry like a baby.. i want to own a home someday and adopt some danes :) i have 2 small lap dogs and cant see myself with out my babies:) Im so greatful for organizations like this and i do a very small part in donating but i hope it helps a kitten or two.. YOU GUYS ROCK !!!
You done a wonderful job showing these precious doggies! They are such a special breed of dog. Don't get me wrong, I love all breeds of dogs whether they are pure bred or mix breed! Thank you for putting this together and sharing it with us!
why not buy animals, if someone really wants an animal then they could buy them. but adopting a dog is also a good idea, so they can go to loving homes. i think it awful the way some dogs are treated around the world. aparently in crete there are loads of stray dogs. another dog rescue centre should be made up, for the dogs to be tret properly and have loving homes. who cares if it costs alot of money, its helping thousands of animals. how could anyone treat dogs so badly' its unfair! x
i rescued a Great Dane named Annie when I was 2. Now i am ten and she is getting pretty old ;-(. i love her sooo much she looks like alot of dogs in this video she is black with a white spot on her chest
Wonderful picture video! My Dane/Mastiff Nico is just about to turn 2 this week, and there is nothing we wouldn't do for him! He is the biggest and best puppy we could have ever asked for! Thanks for sharing this, and I hope they are all well now! We have 3 dogs here already, plus live in Canada too. (Hamilton, Ontario). And I also agree, adopt!
@KisaKittyLove If you are in Toronto, check out the website Danes in Distress who operate in your area: there is a walkathon coming up in May 2010 at Guelph . All workers are volunteers.
I agree ADOPT a dog who needs a forever home. I adopted my Great Dane Dudley 41/2 years ago we are joined at the hip. I just love him so much he is a sweet boy. Give these poor dogs a chance. They will love you so much in return.
I"m really glad organizations like this exist to save dogs like these! Why you would even have kill shelters is beyond me... but thanks again! The Danes are gorgeous :)
Gentle Giants...you are the winner when you have their love. ALL puppies are cute...so sad that so many wannabe owners don't do their homework & realize the care & space needed. Thanks for stepping up & filling a need for this awesome breed.
Would love to start a great dane rescue group in australia as when i went looking for 1 in need of re-homing etc before going and buying one i only found breeders and then just 1 lady who would put you on a list as she sometimes had a dane in need of a new home...Sadly over here it seems everyone wants to rescue little dogs and the big dogs get overlooked...
breaks my heart! Unfortunately just found out that my five year old has heart disease..quite common in Danes?! I rescued him from Ireland and he's been around the world with me, and even knowing what I do now, I wouldn't have changed him for the world!
All I have 2 say, is that I have a great dane and he is the fukin man!!!! His name is Odin. Best dog I have ever had, and will... 165 pounds (as of 2 years ago) .... oh and please... dont crop the ears.....
Everyone reading this, unless you're going to take your dog to dog shows, please consider adopting your next pet from a rescue. You would make a huge difference in their life and rescue dogs are forever grateful. Rescue orgs are also very diligent about temperament-testing the dogs and giving them vet care and generally know a lot more about the breed than anyone at a pet store. Always Adopt from a Rescue. Sorry to say this, but most commercial pet stores support puppy mills.
Regarding 18secs.... my great dane's ears stayed like that *uncropped* through his 10 months of growth because his head grew so much faster than the ears and they would rest on top. We made so uch fun of him But now that he's 13 months and they've flopped over.
OH MY GOD,TEARS ARE SLOWLY RUNNING DOWN MY FACE! I MISS MY BOY SO MUCH. REX WAS A 8yr OLD BLUEMERLE. I LOST HIM DEC.24,'99. BUT HIS ASHES LIVED ON MY DRESSER FOR ANOTHER 3yrs UNTIL MY HOME BURNED. NOT A DAY GOES BY WHEN DON'T SAY, "I USE TO HAVE ONE OF THOSE." THE DAY I REALIZE REX WAS REALLY GONE--THAT WAS THE DAY I CRIED MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE I LOST IN THE FIRE! I THANK GOD THAT I HAD THE HONOR OF HAVING HIM AS MY BEST FRIEND. THANKS FOR REMINDING ME OF HOW SUPER DANES ARE!!!!
OH MY GOD-TEARS ARE SLOWING ROLLING DOWN MY FACE. I SO MISS MY BOY-REX-EIGHT YR OLD BLUE MERLE-I LOST HIM IN DEC 24,1999. THEN I HAD HIM IN LITTLE WOODEN BOX ON MY DRESSER FOR ANOTHER THREE YRS.(his ashes only weighed 8 lbs)
As the proud Mom of two wonderful rescued great danes,Dexter and Matilda, your video made me smile. Thanks for your hard work and devotion to these awesome pups.

will the dogs ears at 0.18 and 0.36 stay like that??????
????
sportywolf 3 years ago
I suppose (hope) 0.18 not, but Im afraid 0.36 will stay like that.
I don't like the procedure to get them their ears standing, it's like plastic surgery for dogs... they are so much nicer with hanging ears... :)
