One of my favorites- of course it's about Australia and I'm American, but so much of it can apply to America as well. I don't think, though, many people know how sad this song is. Colin Hay himself said the song is partially about the plundering of Australia by greedy people. It's why I think the acoustic version works even better than the original- the acoustic version helps contextualize the message.
