@PersonOfBook Yeah i thought so too, and not only is it different but it's like the exact opposite. It went from "paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty" to "paradise city where the people are scared and the people are mean" ha ha
"A person quizzed me a few days ago about Paradise City and kept referring to the Axl Rose song, so I told him to imagine it for the women," Taasha offers. "Axl's singing that the grass is green and the girls are pretty with his misogynist view, so what was it like for the women in that city? Well it was probably pretty fucked. I really love people's interpretations of our songs and they're often more interesting than our own."
yeah, gronk002, you must be a bit audibly impaired if you don't hear the resemblance. Both songs have a very similar melody, they rhyme in a similar way, just the arrangement is different. You can take any song, change the heavy guitar sound into more mellow and claim it's your song, or say "it's an homage" if you prefer. Did The Audreys ever admitted that the song is taken from Guns'n'Roses or they just present it as their own?
Clearly the band is not trying to 'steal' the original. It's clearly written as a re-interpretation of the male perspective behind the original Gunners track; this time from the female perspecive. Neat, huh? Surely you don't think that The Audreys just randomly 'stole' a Gunners track thinking that people wouldn't notice? Give me a break. PS 'an homage' is quite legitimate. You might want to look this up, too.
Oh, BTW - please don't critique my English when you can't even get the band name correct (here's a hint; use capitals; perhaps even at the start of sentences- novel, I know).
Oh wow I didn't see this comment which is also excellent. You are like a teacher encouraging your idiotic pupils. You are like Confucius. And you are witty too - I can tell.
so now it's a parody, not a homage anymore. Isn't parody supposed to be funny? Well, what makes you think so anyway? Did the band ever admitted to it or is it just your personal opinion?
so it's not your opinion? you've just read about it on their website. I prefer having my own opinion, and if the song sounds like the Guns'n'Roses' one, that's a fact no matter how they justify it. They still sign it as their own.
It's truly amazing that they can simultaneously mock Guns and pay homage. Now there's a trick. And you were able to see that, while the rest of us were just stupid.
flooted whoever you are....You make me laugh (literally no sarcasm haha), u kinda just read all the comments and make a mockery of us all, do u want to share your opinion on The Audrey's take on a guns and roses song, or will u just keep egging us all on in this battle?
'Stole"? My god you're not very bright are you. Its an 'homage', a reference to the Gunners track. A re-interpretation with a completely opposite lyrical perspective ( and completely different music actually ).
I know these are all big words. Look them up if you need to aynieBlayz.
well gronk002, i initially wasn't the person who posted this comment up, he was logged into my account, however, i do agree with him, and he makes a valid point in saying the the audreys stole it, the music is the same, they key and the lyrics may be different. in my opinion its pretty much the same. might i add if you want to make a comment that im not very bright. Maybe you should learn some basic english yourself. I believe the saying is "paying homage" or "a homage" rather than "an homage"
Your unique insight is inspiring. Are you psychic. You are very 'bright', unlike the rest of us. Perhaps you should run for President or start a talk show. If you haven't written a book about the audrey's you should. Everyone would buy it. Then you could write a book on everything. I can't think of a challenge more worthy... I am awed.
yes... cos sarcasm is the lowest form to communicate what you really want to say without having said it.
"i am awed" is also incorrect grammar
i also never claimed that i was the brightest person in the world, i was simply responding to gronk002... but if you want to interpret what i've said in that way... then you've clearly missed the point.
can i just point out to anyone who saw "the audreys" on rockwiz the other night that it was actually just taasha coates and it wasn't meant to be the entire band?
I saw them with pete murray the other night, they had two members missing, but even with just vocals, double bass and guitar, it was still classy as hell, blew my mind.
Amazing song the Audreys are one of my favourite Aussie acts along with Faker and Angus and Julia Stone. Taasha has an absolutely smoldering voice and the song is incredibly sultry.
I love this song. Check out the new CD "When The Flood Comes". It's awesome and even better than the last one.
( But does anyone know what the deal is with Tristan and Tasha from the band? Are they together or something? It sounded like they were a couple on triple J the other night, but I think she has a boyfriend. Is anyone else getting a weird 70's swingers vibe???? )

they stole not only the title from Guns'n'Roses, the melody and the lyrics are similar too, at first I thought it's a cover
