I have a theory- global warming is an incorrect term, climate change is more correct. The warmer it gets, the more water in the atmosphere. During the winter, this falls as snow, which reflects sunlight back up. More water = more snow. more snow = more sunlight reflected and lower temperatures. This will mean extremely hot dry summers too. Eventually, one will outweigh the other, either the ice does not melt or the world is hot all year round. Either way, we'll starve or freeze to death. grim :/

You probably know that water is H2O. What that means is water is one Oxygen atom bonded to two Hydrogen atoms ( H-O-H ). The way that freezing works NORMALLY is that as something cools the atomic bonds contract and the atoms get closers together, eventually making it a solid. However with water, due to the nature of the hydrogen bond, bellow 4 Celsius it expands. This is impossible to recreate without mass energy. Sorry :(
Vostok Ice cores show the Earth has cycled between temperature maximums every 100000 years. Global Warming has been going on for 100. We are at the peak of 100000 warm period and I doubt green house effect can end that cycle. We should go into an ice for 100000 years again in a few decades. Last ice age 15000 years ago was far warmer than average temperature for the last 100000. CO2 emission might just make the turn into ice age more severe.
Think about it if the ice caps melt and since fresh water and salt water do not mix if the ice caps melt we can have more fresh water to go around. Global warming is merely the result of our sun going through periods of high and low stages of activity. At this point in time, solar storms are a lot more powerful than they've been in the past, resulting in higher gamma ray quantities and therefore higher temperatures. I don't think that CO2 has as much affect as the external and natural galactic activity. CO2 may destroy the ozone layer which is basically a natural shield from harmful raidiation, but it hasn't always protected us completely.
Just look at Venus's Atmosphere farrariguy. Its like 95% Carbon Dioxide. So it traps the heat from the sun making it the hottest planet in the solar system, despite mercurey being closer to the sun. Granted the Earth is only like 1% or less Carbon dioxide. Increasing amount of it will increase heating.

Even now if you turn to people near the Antarctic they will tell you their is massive freezing going on.
They speak on Greenland yet we know that in 1500 when European settlers located their, there was no Ice or very, very little.
In a hundred years that all changed but the Inuits stayed.
When they left their diet was changed drastically becasue no land to farm, Ice.

NSDIC shows that 2009 sea ice for the Antarctic is way up above the 1979-2000 average.
Arctic sea ice is currently 12% up on 2008 ... so much for the alarmists' nonsense claim of "ice free".

Large Civilizations are doomed to make mistakes in terms of managing their environment and eventually their home-planet or habtitat, destroying it and destroying themselves with it. Old civilizations like the Mayans are said to have fallen due to over-farming/grazing, when alot of people flourished and overpopulated one area, destroying it. Nowadays, that overflowing is worldwide. The planet cannot support so many humans using its resources without replenishing them.

I agree. We need a strategy that redresses the externalities inherent in our lifestyle so that the price we pay for things better reflects their true cost. I think the best way to do this is to give each human an equal share of the "right to pollute" and arrange the economy so that those who use more than their share must pay a gradually increasing amount to those who must have used less. This will create a selective pressure to find more mutualistic products, infrastructure, and lifestyles.

earth is on a cycle and this is just a point to where it is at. earth is just going about its business getting ready for another ice age. we are just speeding things up. but in all essence we have nothing to worry about its just a cycle that takes hundreds or thousands of years (from the christian view) and if even if you are not a christian it is the same. we dont need to stop driving cars though we just need to be careful we dont speed up earths cycle to much or we will be gone. Even if you think that global warming isn't real, either because humans caused it or because the earth is undergoing natural cycles, you can't deny that overpopulation IS a problem. What's more, people focus on the wrong things entirely. Corporate greed and wars - and other unncessary expenditures - as hackneyed and predictable as what I'm saying is - will always come before peace and common sense. The greedy do run the world.

I'm assuming by your comment you don't know a lot about chemistry.
You probably know that water is H2O. What that means is water is one Oxygen atom bonded to two Hydrogen atoms ( H-O-H ). The way that freezing works NORMALLY is that as something cools the atomic bonds contract and the atoms get closers together, eventually making it a solid. However with water, due to the nature of the hydrogen bond, bellow 4 Celsius it expands. This is impossible to recreate without mass energy. Sorry :(

My above comment was too long, let me expand.
If you use mass energy to recreate the freezing process the two things will happen:
- You'll use so much energy that collecting it will cause more damage to the Cryosphere than using it would.
or
- You stand the risk of an atomic explosion while doing this on a large scale.
Unfortunately, the crystal structure of frozen water (hexagonal ice Ih) is very odd, but even harder to artificiality recreate.

Vostok Ice cores show the Earth has cycled between temperature maximums every 100000 years. Global Warming has been going on for 100. We are at the peak of 100000 warm period and I doubt green house effect can end that cycle. We should go into an ice for 100000 years again in a few decades. Last ice age 15000 years ago was far warmer than average temperature for the last 100000. CO2 emission might just make the turn into ice age more severe.

Think about it if the ice caps melt and since fresh water and salt water do not mix if the ice caps melt we can have more fresh water to go around. Back in the ice age where everything was frozen it has to eventually melt so its just a natural occurrence also NASA its for aeronautics and space not gay fucking cryosphere bullshit. Global warming is merely the result of our sun going through periods of high and low stages of activity. At this point in time, solar storms are a lot more powerful than they've been in the past, resulting in higher gamma ray quantities and therefore higher temperatures. I don't think that CO2 has as much affect as the external and natural galactic activity. CO2 may destroy the ozone layer which is basically a natural shield from harmful raidiation, but it hasn't always protected us completely.

Just look at Venus's Atmosphere farrariguy. Its like 95% Carbon Dioxide. So it traps the heat from the sun making it the hottest planet in the solar system, despite mercurey being closer to the sun. Granted the Earth is only like 1% or less Carbon dioxide. Increasing amount of it will increase heating.
